I’m an older American woman who fulfilled a lifetime dream two years ago and solo traveled with Mongolian nomad families, living with them in their yurts. I have traveled quite a bit, and I found the Mongolian people to be the kindest, most humorous, tolerant, pleasant people I have ever met. They treat their children (who are curious and respectful) better than any other culture I’ve ever come upon. They are also super techie. Yes, you will see a young man among his camels, texting furiously.

It was said during the Mongol conquests you could smell the hordes long before you actually saw them. To be fair though, basic hygiene and sanitation even among the Europeans was lacking too. Superstition and ignorance was very prevalent in many cultures.

Gout isn't necessarily caused by eating rich foods. People suffering with gout have difficulty processing protiens. The unprocessed protiens turn to uric acid. The uric acid usually settles to the extremities (toes, feet, fingers and hands) and crystalizes, causing inflamation of the joints and extreme pain. Liver and other organ meats and shellfish along with rich red meats are often the culprits to set it off.

The part where it says Mongols eat dogs, wolves and humans is untrue. Mongols highly prohibit eating carnivorous animals. The only rodent Mongols eat is a Eurasian Marmot. And in Tengrist mythologies and taboos eating a human flesh is considered a sin. This information was most likely given to the writer as a some sort of propaganda, since the Mongols liked deceiving foreign peoples making them think that they're monsters. And some Mongolian tribes claim that their ancestors were certain animals like eagles, wolves, dogs, horses, bears, foxes or even snakes. So it's highly unlikely to eat or even kill these animals(except horses).

Please do your research thoroughly before posting your videos. Most people would believe right away because u seem like a credible channel but I see a couple mistakes about your history.
    1. Mongolians always had an extra horse to ride with or eat depending on the time and place so they wouldn't run out of food and even if they did they were disciplined enough to go a couple days without food.
    2. They consider Mongolian lives to be more important than any other treasure or precious metal because the mongolian population isn't very big compared to other countries
    3. The early translations of the Secret History of the Mongols were translated wrong so people have the common misconception that Mongolians ate people. The reason why most people thought Mongolians ate people was that after sacking or taking over a city, Mongolians would conscript soldiers from those cities and used them as expendable soldiers. Most of the time those soldiers never came back so a rumour started going around that Mongolians ate them. Mongolians often started these rumours to scare other people.

Gout is a type of arthritis. Certain foods will trigger an attack of it but it's hereditary which is why it was (still is) widely suffered in certain groups. I'm a vegan, non alcohol drinking, whole food eating gout sufferer. Inherited it from my mom who has ancestry from that part of the world.

Mongolians don't eat dog meat. Nobody in Mongolia would agree on that part. Some people say it's because dogs are considered as loyal friends and some would say that dogs are reincarnation of souls who came closest to becoming humans. And also we have a saying that literally translates to "no bowl no mouth" which means if you don't have your own bowl or cup it's same as having no mouth. You just look at the food and watch others eat but you can't eat unless you bring your own bowl. That's why every mongols would carry their own bowls, spoons and knives (small knife to cut cooked meats only). About those washing in running water policy is actually out of respect and care for nature. It is a nomadic ethic to respect and protect the nature because nature is the number one source of our lives. It was considered taboo to wash in the river, but you can take water from the river and wash yourself at home. There are many findings of everyday life equipments that goes way back of Chingis Khaan's years such as water container and washing bowls in the museums in Mongolia. One of the cleaning ways were using alcohol. It was kind of working as a sanitizer. And fire was also a way, but fire is considered sacred, putting bad things in the fire means you and your family would be punished by the god of fire for dirtying their stomach. So, it's just impossible to use fire to clean clothes and stuff, just think about it. What I'm trying to say is most of the historical views on Mongols were reflected upon the soldiers who were away from home traveling hundreds and hundreds of miles just on their horses making sky as their roof and land as their bed. However, we still have certain things common with rest of the world like cleaning houses brushing hairs, taking baths... we are still humans...
