- Diamond Head - In The Heat Of The Night (Official Video). The track is taken from the album 'Borrowed Time' (1982).
Re-imagined, re-recorded and re-born in 2020, Diamond Head’s 40-year celebration of their genre-defining debut album is a scintillating shot of fresh metal energy. With Lightning To The Nations 2020 listeners experience not only the rare phenomenon of crisp, fresh and new sounding songs with very little of the obvious original elements altered, they will also be treated to four supreme cover versions.
Recorded over several sessions between various locations, from France to band members’ home studios, Lightning To The Nations 2020 central hub was Andersen’s Raw Sound Studios in London. It’s where Brian and Abbz did the guitars in February and March of this year, and then with the COVID-19 chaos striking, Andersen worked on the album between April and July, with Tatler’s watchful ear inspecting final mixes and tweaks in early August before sending off to mastering at Metropolis Studios in London.
This edition of the album sees Diamond Head spreading their wings and creating the heaviest of homages to Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Deep Purple… And Metallica.

WHAT A VOICE.....as rich as coverdale and rogers....
It is rather OBVIOUS DIAMONDHEAD was a HUGE DRIVING FORCE on what inspired METALLICA !!!
Oh! That solo and those vocals.....match made in heaven!
Yesss
Without diamondhead there would be no Metallica.
This should have been a gigantic hit.
That guitar solo! Brian is criminally underrated.
Recently saw him interviewed by Lars Ulrich but yes you are right they never got the credit or exposure that they deserved. I got into metal about the same time that the NWOHM started up and bands like Maiden and Leppard got all the headlines. Used to read Kerrang at school and unfortunately Diamond Head hardly got a mention.
You think you like this version of it listen to the MI evil album version of it
I wouldn't call Brian "criminally underrated". Criminally unknown perhaps. Those who know his music and his talent would never underrate him.
Yeah, it's pretty epic.
He's awesome. And those lyrics!
The best band who never became HUGE
It's even worse when you find out why they never made it big and how close they were to making it. To sum it up it quickly, they were managed by Sean Harris's mom, but were approached by the manager of Foreigner who wanted to manage Diamond Head, but the band declined. If they said yes they probably would be one of the biggest bands of the NWOBHM along with Iron Maiden
@@meatjuice9081 I didn't know that
@@meatjuice9081 I was a manager of a record shop when Canterbury was released.
I remember all the copies that we had were warped and all had to be returned to the record label
pentagram is a close 2nd

I bought this album (Borrowed Time) in 82/83 on the strength of the album cover. Man, I'm so glad I did. These guitar solos have lived in my head for 40 years. The arrangement of each track is so colourful. A really impressive album.
The album before was a lot better and the one after a lot worse. Diamond Head were unfortunetly on a destructive trajectory with more and better competition and a business plan and management that hardly existed by this time.
Cover art in that era (I was an eighth grader in 82) was so important. I have to imagine Cliff Burton turned the young other members of Metallica onto these chaps.
I did the same Pete...it's funny how most young kids don't know that Metallica didn't write am I evil
@@DerBieso1 nope, actually the opposite. lars and james were huge diamond head fans, and lars actually lived with them for a while. lars later stated that cliff was not into diamond head
Tatler's guitar playing is so tasteful. He's got great feeling.
I remember going to see them in Nottingham many many years ago, on my birthday in 1983. A really awesome band.
One of the best Diamond head songs ever!!
such a killer front man.
love that this song still gets frequent comments
one of my favorite songs of all time
Song hasn’t even started and I already know it’s going to be sick
The Big 4 of Thrash Metal introduced me to this band..Damn they’re good 👍
All the lead singers who sang in that band did an amazing job but Sean Harris' s vocals were something else ( and still are )
Diamond Head and Saxon rules!!!!
The Borrowed Time album is a masterpiece!
Одна из величайших тяжелых групп, без всяких скидок. Один раз зацепили и не отпускают! Татлер - виртуоз каких поискать, вокал-чудо, да и вообще, все у них гармонично срослось, но к сожалению не надолго. 👍❤
The most talented band to never make the big show
Amazing how clearly I can hear their influence on early Metallica.
Not heard this in years. Forgot what a good voice he had.
Oh Lawd that voice😍This is one of my all-time favorite songs, just divine!
Awesome I wish I'd seen them. Classic pipes and brilliant musicians
The singer has an unique style that works
I played the hell out of this album back in 1982 while stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. Awesome album, awesome album cover.
Most underrated rock band
This has to be one of the greatest rock/metal albums of all time!
Real giants !
A hell of a band, Borrowed Time is one my most played vinyls of the eighties... Its a school for heavy metal
I have been listening to metal since I was 13 years old. I’m now 30 and my tastes have changed a huge amount since. I am now just discovering the wonder that is diamond head. What a band.
A superb band that the world needs to know.
Nit gonna say i liaten to Diamond head all the time, but when i do, they give me goosebumbs
My god so good first time hear this song
Diamonds are ...forever
Insanely underrated band. The end for Duncan and Colin didn’t do any favours - the musical chemistry of that lineup was special. Awesome song.
Underrated song of all time
This tune lives forever in my soul!
Sorry to hear that. Get some help!

LET ME KNOW IF YA NEED ANYTHING. SEE YA LATER, LOVE. BYE!
Just discovered this. Wow...
Why isn't this famous.its so sad
love this song one of the best NWOBHM songs
Can't believe i have never heard of them, This was a great find for me...
Great guitar solo.
So good too!
Its a shame Diamond Head Never got big back in the day.
The guileful warning of Diamond Head...
Young Josh Brolin was filming Thrashin and singing for Diamond Head. What a stud!
Glorious. What a voice.
I saw them at a small venue in the West Midlands near where they come from in 1978 and I believe before they went pro. Even then I thought 'this band are headed for the big time.' Shame they didn't became bigger.
Having only known the songs of their's that Metallica covered, this one sounds much more mainstream radio-friendly rock than I'd have ever expected.
I dig it.
what a voice !!!
This is such a great song.
Now this.. ladies and gentlemen.. is how a NWOBHM song is supposed to sound like
Back than, they could be like a new Led Zeppelin
Best heavy rock album ever. Larga vida al rocck con lettras concientes y sensibilidad social a la epoca.
Yes! Bought the album solely on the cover art way back in the day. Loved it 35+ years ago-love it still today!
I would KILL for that vinyl! Beware!
@@matematicoschibchas Lol!
Brian and Sean are lovely people i had the pleasure of meeting them on their reunion tour 1991 at Bristol bierkeller...
Очень недооценëнная группа, потмне так очень мощная❤
Just imagine if Mutt Lange (the world's best producer) decided to work with these guys, like how he did with Def Leppard, ACDC, The Cars, Foreigner etc..
Steely eyes of a silvery people
Walk behind me, with evil intent
Up to the tower, I stand alone
Stripped of rank before them I'm sent
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
Before long, behind adamantine doors
I taste of the wine of their joy
Through delirium of a tortured mind
Her face gave me strength to this day.
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
In the heat of the night
But love deceived me, and in my despair
I recalled the ring once again
Born of Sorrow my cunning revives me
And I took them with me enchained
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
What befalls us in the heat of the night?
In the heat of the night
hvala

Отлично.Классика жанра! Hail from Russia!
The real ones, the best ones... Hopefully fair enough....
Yes without this band ,no METALLICA
no trash metal bands in general.
Went to see Rock Goddess back in March 5th 2020. Islington O2. Glad I made the effort, I wanted to see them headlining. I had 2 gigs lined up with them supporting DH. 2nd & 3rd Huddersfield and Hull Welly. April 2020. Cancelled because of COVID obviously!
Those gigs never happened, and the Welly in Hull has closed down. So glad I got to see Rock Goddess.
We will see Head again!
I never heard of these guys but they are pretty good.
What a great recording, audio is pure fucking gold, more please

I made out with a girl to this song. 13 years old New Year’s Eve 2022, right at Brian tatlers solo she kissed me. It was so epic. Thanks so much for the memory diamond head (she left me recently but that memory shall live with me forever)
"I'm the manager of huge band, Foreigner, and I would like to start managing you".
"No fanx, we're going to stick with the singers mum".
