Good to see you back. Our spring barley is about a week off. The neighbours is closer. We've already knocked off 24 acres of wheat, it came in between 13.5 and 12.2 but very hot, so We've spread it around the shed and keep stirring it up with the tele. Hopefully, it's of milling quality !
Nice to see you back Rob. Dad earning is money combining your barley but leaving a nice swath of straw hope you’ve got a buyer for it with a good price
Good to see you back again that’s a great yield of Spring barley What variety is it ? Don’t think Winter barley done well anywhere in the country this year too wet even at drilling time & cold spring hopefully potatoes will yield well & current prices hold up was over at Cambridge machinery sales yesterday & it was a small sale not that exciting & not many at it but we did see wheat cut & lots of nice looking straw between Stansted & Ely
The variety is laureate spring barley , hope that’s how you spell it !! Ahh yes not too much been cut round here , I think I’m some cases the early drilled stuff isn’t as good ! Wet feet all winter and drowned out . But we will soon be starting all over again ! On wards !
loving the updates I'm only up the road at Cambridge Machine Sales if you ever want a drone driver i just got myself a mini 3 pro, last year i was out with the veals, hope you and your dad have a good season with no breakdowns buddy
Rob sounds like you could have a load of black fen soil in the tank, I am guessing it looked like black snot!! Over the years have had similar in diesel tanks on tractors ( a bit like really soft black rubber) If not the only other thing it could be is bacteria from the ethanol mix fuel, it can also go like black snot, as I understand it the bacteria grows in the water content of the ethanol. It is known to be worse in fuel that isn’t agitated regular (or regular turn over) Irrigators (and combines) are idle for most of the year so no fuel movement. You can get a product like a tampon that absorbs this water content which in turn reduces bacteria growth. If you speak with your fuel supplier they should be able to give you some advice on availability etc. Keep cracking on and will give you a wave next time I am passing you, dad or mum 👍
Yeah this year is sure going down the drain 😝 not UK anymore, Divided Kingdom maybe second Civil War coming soon 😢 I think wind turbines need to be put in English Channel, raise the sails, pull up anchor ⚓️ and sail to Iceland 🇮🇸 Glad to see your dry humour back, best farming channel 👌🏼
Thank you !! It will effect us massively, they are only just up the road , dads and grandad had been dealing with the for years , it’s such a shame. Do we stick brand loyal or do we move to another brand …that’s the question
