Great video those bat wing toppers are a great bit of kit they do a really good job I cut about 1800 -2000 acres a year with one mainly grass and bracken most of my cutting is in really rough conditions mine takes a lot of abuse I’m in the army training area in Norfolk
As you say. Good to hit the reset button and hopefully a better start for coming year. Be a lot of metal being worn away with all the compacted land. Some good barley straw there be well wanted this year
Good upload, like the longer videos. Fantastic to see harvest in full flow, are the yields better than you thought they would be? Considering the weather we had for the first 6 months I reckon that the average yields across the board are better than predicted. ATB
We pay around £90/week for its hire including pipes and a lance, any trouble with it we just pick up the phone, I guess buying a good second hand one could cost a few thousand. So hiring suits us.
what would some advice be for someone like me, im 16 and id like to start my own contracting company, as i dont think making a large farm as a person who comes from a non farming family is really possible
I would do some market research first to see what contract operations local farms would want doing to see what services you would offer. Farming in general is crying out for good interested young people to come into the industry.
@@JDautopower yeah that sounds right, im extremly interested and i have been my whole life. i think a way to get more young people into farming would be for the government to suplement the salary's of farm workers. though theyd argue that isnt finacially viable. Thanks you
great video again thanks sharing video again 👍
Thank you, you’re welcome 😊
Only just found you. Like the farming content, thanks.
Thanks, much appreciated 😊

Thanks. The topper is certainly a good bit of kit. Well worth the hire from GCS.
Good video, also good to see farmers looking after their machinery. I bet the muck had a fine aroma.😂😂😂
Thank you😊. Yes the Bio solids did have a distinctive smell lol.
Good video 👍 . Amazing morning for combining
@@christopherbignell3342 thank you, it was certainly a good sunrise

Yes the land is certainly hard!
Interesting one again thanks again 👍
Thank you 😊
I’ve seen plenty good sunsets while combining. But I’ve never seen a sunrise. 👍
I don’t want to make a habit of seeing the sun rise while combining 😂😂
Another great video 😊
Thank you 😊

Thanks, there’s a lot going on at the minute. Yes yields are better than we expected after the growing season they’ve had.
The good bad and the ugly ,same as we've all got !
That’s true this year!
Great sunrise..interesting about the moisture content on the rape
@@WILKY422 yes it’s surprising that it can be cut to dry lol.
@@JDautopower slowly working my way through your videos certainly learning new things about farming..
good video
Thanks 😊
Another great in depth video . Love your videos, is it your farm or are you working for someone
Thanks. No it’s not my farm, Im only employed on it. It’s part of an estate.
Why don't they put a fire surpression system on combines .
Good question, they are available through a third party, but none of the major manufacturer s offer it on the option list as far as I’m aware.
Is the topper cutting the wheel tracks ok
It’s doing a good job to be honest, you can see them a bit when cutting really long material
will you swop the challenger for a fendt soon
No, we are going to keep running the Challenger for a good while yet…….cheap horse power.
would it be cheaper to buy a compressor
