Welcome to my farming channel, my name is Rob. I work alongside my dad on our 450 acre farm in Cambridgeshire, growing cereal and root crops. I am aiming to give you an insight into a young farmers life and what we get up to on a day to day basis. My overall goal is to give people a view on how important agriculture is and where our food comes from. Who knows where or what we will be doing !! So please join me !

What beautiful soil, we never were in such grand stuff up north. Our equipment was basiclly the same makes, tractor drawn Grimme with a windrower on each, never stood idle plus a Grimme self propelled, we had an extender swift lift,it had to be full all the time, grader was also a Downes, but made to our boss's spec, when going was rough, we needed 8 on the grader & another 4 on the conveyers, we lifted 550+ acres each year, some for firms pack house, but mainly for Walkers crisps.
Best JOB IN the world you lucky devil, doing more good then all people talking about work ,the press save a pass of the cultivator
Why do you think they used to plough the fields back then,so they could get a good seed base.Pen pushers don't know shit they don't know how to farm every thing looks good on paper, but paper doesn't grow crops.
Keep farming every bit you can you'll make a fortune 😂😂
I feel for you, the bloody government can’t even run a bath, let alone tell farmers how to do their job.
I couldn't smell carbon @19.10, but there's been a nasty whiff of political bullshit for a few weeks now and it's going to get worse!
Hi rob ,thanks for the photo on the end, enjoyed the chat whilst dad loaded me ,keep up the good work 👏
Back in the 1970s, my father experimented in a 30-acre field. Half min-till and half ploughed. On Sunday nights, my grandparents would visit and come for tea. My grandfather would catch up on weekly farming operations. My father said to me, "Go and show your Grandad the min-till and plough comparison." (Winter Barley) We duly went and had a look. I said, "It looks good, doesn't it?" My Grandad was a man of few words and a great thinker looking at the comparison whilst puffing on the customary Manikin cigar and said, "The plough was around a long time before me, and it will still be around for a long time after your gone." All these years later, I consider he was right.
Great stuff releasing a bit of co2, it's only 0.0400ppm so bugger all really. What would be better is if they stopped spraying the sky with aliminium, barium etc. That's what caused all the flood in Europe plus here last year etc. There's patents going back to the late 1800s.
Gov? The criminals that shouldn't be! No one should sell their land because once corporations have it it'll be near impossible to get back. At least they still have it with sfi. I hope they don't fall for the solar scam and turbine either as that'll put it out of production for 25 plus years. Well don't for speaking out a little, need more too. As you said food security, yet they're on about war in two years? Make sense of that in a normal world but it isn't normal.
hi rob great video nice to see you ploughing at the end of the day you cant beat it !!!!!
Great interesting video as usual Rob and like me you can't understand this country's food and farming policies we should be growing food on every inch of land possible. In years to come we will regret these stupid decisions we have the best farmers in the world this country should be supporting and backing them in every way possible not kicking them in the balls .
It's still nice to see the plough working Rob, i used to enjoy ploughing.
I remember when I use to work for a agricultural contractor back near Skegness did a lot of ploughing on a track Marshall 155 the bloody plough was forever missing the press
Can I ask why the top link is not in the floating position on the plough? Just curious and do you think a bigger combine might be on the shopping list for next year?
cracking video Rob 👍 that was some fantastic bit of ploughingyou done without using the gps
Why did they plough all those years, to get a better start for the next crop. I have seen more ploughs out this year , so that say it all . There will be a place for a plough no matter what new ideas they come up with, keep up the good work Rob .
Hi Rob , you are right in your approach ,do the opposite of everyone else ,the soil needs air in it.
Hi rob you could do with an extra furrow or 2 on the plough 😮
We ploughed all the wheat land last year but still got ergot mainly in the fields with black grass , cant beat ploughing. Great video thanks.
Why have you still got the narrow wheels on the sprayer tractor, surely normal wheels would reduce compaction. Ploughing was always my favourite job, gives great satisfaction.
7:10 im not a farmer nor am i in farming bud, but i keep up with it, and what your saying i 100% agree from 2024 on i dont blame farmers for giving up when everyone else say me for example ( a youtube carpanter builder) daily i can move my prices and i can earn/ charge what things cost, and yet hats of to you guys working 80 hours a week min though harvest to be told 12 months late sorry, mills are only paying £xxx, right kick in the teeth, if farmers stoped farming the world would realise after a few months how f*@ked the nation is without crops in the ground
Min till causing most weed problems back in the day we never put on half the chemicals they do now
I know there's always a place for change, but sometimes, the old ways are the best. Things always look better when you're starting with a clean canvas. You are never going to be able to get rid of the plough. Great video Rob.
Very true words said there Rob,
Rob every field as its own requirements and only the farmer knows its needs for future cropping Believe we are only 66 % sufficient in food production so in future every one is going to want a farmer as there best friend. Hopefully returns for your efforts will be rewarded better in the future
I think with the ergot problem this year a lot of ploughs all be coming out. Great video Rob.
Weve never had ergot in the uk for years. Its an an old skool desease. I wonder if its imported seed.
I believe there has !
👍👍
I had the pleasure of driving a TX62 one year. Last year I had an NH9080.. this year I have a Case 7240. Getting through harvest now, with just one late drilled winter wheat field.. plus 90 acres of spring beans to cut.. yields for me, here in north Lincs, have been mostly disappointing
Well done loveley harvest as you say you can only have what is there
I saw beeans on a pod and maybe 3 to a pod. This year. Not 6 or seven maybe 4 on a push. Last ysar was the same. Go back to old veriatys. Maybe they bring the level back.
Fogoten what dust and dry ground looks like here on the solway plain in cumbria we haven’t had a full dry week since last June i kid you not can’t even cut silage
Glad your back Rob and you've nearly got it done I was started to get worried thought I'd have to watch someone else's farming video. I nearly clicked on that Ollie lad from Norfolk have you seem him I bet his dad don't know he's skipping school lol great to see those New Hollands as usual . You looked a bit tired at the end mate understandably so keep off the Stella mate switch to real ale do you a lot more good than that stuff. All the best to you and your family great to see Spud again.
cracking video Rob 👍
Don't get shocked into a bigger combine because that will equal to more acres then more sheds its early yet the latest we finished was November the 5th we call them pikes 😂
Well done for getting it in and dry too ,, Lewis has finished his first full harvest and had some good results and some ok results, so over all I think you have done well . All the crops needed sunshine and all year the light levels have been down . We will soon pop over and have a beer with you , Well done to you all again
Well done on getting the harvest done, lets all hope its a better growing season and the weather is kinder too.
Just been to Nothumberland this bank holiday week and there is alot of standing corn of all types still out there. They were going Thursday on Barley so good luck to them all in getting it in dry.
Great video again bigger Combine wouldn’t go a miss.👍
Hope next harvest is better though a good end this year. Poor TX62 old girl, needs some tender love ❤️ I think in future, you should get a grant for solar panels to help costs of running any electric machinery and look into drones for some help with crop management. Farmers really should get together to have a cooperative like European farmers and control their own prices. 😅 Oh and the bean crop probably has left more nutrients in the ground for your following wheat 🌾
Good you’ve got harvest home and trouble shutting shed doors with crop over flow
Odd shaped fields, we call them 'gearings' in East Yorkshire, trouble is I now live in Devon and nobody understands me !
Gearings. I get the gear cos its work. Ings is confusing me.
@@antnewbon2673 Such is the beauty of our language in different areas. East Yorks, probably a Nordic influence.
Gearings here in n lincs, too
Are you going to swap the combine this time ??
We’re starting our spring barley harvest next week
great video again rob good to see you getting the harvest in . hope the yields are good as ive heard some are not to great looking foward to the next video already 👍
Hiya Duncan , thanks very much , yep the yields aren’t toooo bad atm , appreciate the support , hope your well
Great video in the next one for get the music👍👌
Thank you , bad choice of music? Or prefer no music with drone footage in silence???
@fenfarming562 you talking about what your doing on your 🚜 most people get the idea
Just how it should be.. As regards bog usage. . Depends what you identify as I suppose. I've never seen seen a picture of a smelly old fart from Suffolk so I use any porcelain that happens to be near.
😂😂😂 best comment going so far!!
Great drone footage Rob.
Thank you 🙏
Awesome video 😄👍🏻🚜
Glad you enjoyed it!
