Years ago my father's car, 72 Superbug, got pulled up at its safety inspection as it had left hand drive lens. He had bought the car new here in New Zealand like that. VW NZ would use odd parts as suited them. If you ran the engine numbers, it was in a van apparently. Still got the car, in pieces if you're wondering.
exactly , be great since they have so many LED out there & video did mention "make sure to be careful which one to order" , cant see the brand or number to look up.
My oldest son has autism and first time in the ‘58 he was putting on his seatbelt (something I had to literally pound into him to keep it on) and his reaction when I told him there’s no seatbelts so hold on 😂
LED bulb we installed has the same profile (both high and low beam) as the halogen bulb. So, the way to aim headlights is the same as stock H4 (and sealed beam too) headlights
Relays are usually needed when there's really high current in the cct. When you switch to LEDs, the current they draw is tiny compared to a traditional bulb, so you don't need a relay. Your headlight switch will last longer.
Yes, it will work for Bay window and Type 3. Install 178mm H4 High/Low Beam Conversion Headlamp Housing like this one from Hella. So, you can install any type of H4 bulbs LED or halogen. www.amazon.com/dp/B001G76Q2W/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_W2WWSTTTTWKSBSPRR5VS
@@hotvwsmagazine Great! and thanks for the new link. That other one expired. But looks like a lot of them for sale. Just have to be sure to get US spec lenses I imagine.
@@gregboswell2843 I installed 178mm H4 housing for my Bug. I thought Bay and Type 3 are same size but it's good idea to measure your current sealdbeam headlight to make sure it's the right size.
@@hotvwsmagazine Yes, indeed. I have an 62 t-34 6 volts. Sadly, can not remember the size of either its been so long since I had them out. Also have a 64 bug so, the 178 should be good. Thanks again. Appreciate taking time to shoot all these cool videos and answer questions.
Thank you so much! I've got 3 6 volt bugs...Think it's time for an upgrade!
Def will do leds soon 👌

Very informative, thank you Hot VW’s!
That little cap inside is not a reflector, it is there to reduce glare from the bulb.
awesome video cheers
Thanks so much. Can you provide the information to buy the correct LED?

Hot VWs - that link to the ebay site no longer works - can you update that link? This is great information
I want to switch to LED bulbs for my 73 US model, any recommendations?
Do you if you can get led brake lights and turn signals for 6 volt
How do you aim your headlights?
LED bulb we installed has the same profile (both high and low beam) as the halogen bulb. So, the way to aim headlights is the same as stock H4 (and sealed beam too) headlights
do you need relays with those led bulbs?
The LED light we installed didn't need relays.
@@hotvwsmagazine nice to know that

Would these work for a Bay bus or a type 3, thanks.

That link for 178mm is a 7.48 in diameter light. Is that correct or did they need to be just 7 inch or 165mm?

What in the world is going on in the background for the first 7 minutes?

go ahead.... go ahead ....x28
