    Man I cringed, watching him use that silver Allen wrench to push the slide stop takedown out. Too easy to scratch it!

    Those alignment marks should be located on the same side as the button you push.

    Funny how in the Marines we were given a toothbrush and a small bottle of CLP to clean a whole M16.

      Is this a joke? Metal wire brush, soap, hosing it down with lube. This is a how not to do it.

    A thumbs-up for the effort to create such a howto video for cleaning the gun. However I think it is way too much - even acknowledging that each and everyone has his own method, all great and fine :-) In this time I'd clean 3-4 handgun and you wouldnt be able to tell a difference. Regarding the chemicals used I think Break Cleaner is OK on all metal-guns only, if you clean a 1911 or 92 with wooden grips this way they might suffer, as well as maybe some break cleaners with some polymer frames. However, in most cases - and even after a 350 rds IPSC level3 match - you usually dont need the brake cleaner. Any CLP will do the job, cloth and toothbrush, and clean away. I always start with the barrel, CLP inside and outside, and let it rest then. Next is slide and then the frame, and once they are CLP'd I clean them both with cloth and toothbrush. Last I turn to the barrel, clean it inside and outside. Then some drops of oil on the barrel, smear it all around, barrel back into the slide, spring inside, then some drops on the rails and one drop each on "the sear" and trigger axle, and then I put the slide back on. Rack it a few times, dryfire a few times, clean away the excess oil and be done with it. This procedure now has worked for me for almost 3o years, with the last 6-7 years having gotten into dynamic shooting sports, and some 30+ guns of all sorts, maker and model. And upon resale there has never been an issue about the condition of the gun regarding cleaned or else. Yes, over time you see wear marks - some you can "delay" by using grease instead of oil, but still the gun is clean enough to work properly.
    The one thing which I saw a professional gunsmith do, which was different to what I always do, is to use compressed air to blow out the metal shavings and metal splinters of the brass! Brake cleaner alone will not always spill them away, there is really some force needed - and some spots are hard or impossible to get to with the toothbrush. Compressed air will do it - but then who runs a compressor in the same room where you do your cleaning? ;-)

    What product you have for cleaning. I don’t see the name

    A good video demonstrating the cleaning process. But a big omission to avoid showing the products or brands used. I have enough experience to guess but video would be more complete if you indicate at least the type of products you use.

      it might be Wurth's brake clean or a light lubricant of theirs to rinse away the foam solvent and debris. most brake cleaners are quite harsh and dry off (evaporate) rapidly leaving a dry, oil free surface but I'm not familiar with Wurth brand. Definitely need gloves no matter the product

      I’d stick with non chlorinated brake clean or you could ruin the finish really easily.

      Trigger is just great, really the only gun ready for competition straight from the box. Next video will be CZ TS2, one more really good competition gun.

    I own a cz shadow 2 orange I know the trigger is better than a regular shadow I have heard many people talk about cajun gun works do you know if there is any benefit to switching on the orange I haven't found a video on it , just wondering if you have any experience with the difference. I love my shadow but I wish it had that 1911 wall .

      Hi,
      well I was using both of them, tried comparing them and I found that Orange have better trigger, low tolerances on whole gun (everything is tight fit) but is it worth the price, I'm not sure.
      You should find someone who has it and try it on range so you can make your opinion.

      The question is are you gonna be good enough for occasion trigger job to make any real difference I'm just not good enough shot you can give me the best trigger in the world and the worst and my target won't change appreciably

    Newbie here, how often should a handgun be cleaned like this? 1000 rounds?

    • @guncleaningguru1265
      @guncleaningguru1265  2 роки тому +1

      It depends at what conditions and with what ammo are you using your gun, but yes, around 1000 clean, every 300 few drops of lube at contact points.

      @@guncleaningguru1265 how do you like the Liquid Moly oil?

    • @guncleaningguru1265
      @guncleaningguru1265  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, my opinion is that is good enough for using up to 200-300 shots between cleaning, everything above that I would recommend any oil with ceramic, it stays longer on vital parts and it is not affected by high temp.
