Please do AN ENTIRE video on Wuthering Heights. I'd love to hear your thoughts and what you have to say doing a deep dive. It's one of my favorite books of all time! I feel like it's negative comments always reference the toxicity of the relationship, but I just feel like those readers are only doing a surface level reading and being one dimensional in their review because the story is so much more than that! I'd love to hear what you think!

I am a fifth grade teacher and one of the units I teach is the children’s version of Don Quixote. At the end of the unit they have to write an essay on the topic “Do Don Quixote’s good intentions justify his actions?” Hearing you talk about reading it in grad school, makes me feel like I am actually making a difference in my students lives, in helping them understand this piece of literature.

Haven't gotten too far into the video yet, however I wanted to put it out there that if you want an alternative to comments for Q&A questions (or any other discussions and things) the Community tab might be a good place! A lot of the creators I watch have started using the feature and I've personally started to really like it as well :)

You seem to have a talent for pointing out symbolic themes. Hands. Necks. Fruit. You have such a knack for pointing out the way these things are used to further storytelling through metaphor and motif! It's so fun hearing you sprinkle in those insights throughout your videos.

    Questions for your Q&A:
    - What did you get your Bachelor's degree in?
    - What do you do for work?
    - What made you decide to go get your Master's?
    - Do you want to pursue the same job/career that you intended when you started your Master's?
Thank you! Love your channel! And congratulations on getting married! Would love to hear more about that (and your husband), as well!

The Invisible Man was the first classic novel I ever read and I still say it's the best book I've ever read. I read all the books in my elementary school so my librarian would often tell me which books to pick up from our local library like the Invisible Man. I reread it every now and then and it's still so great.

Not a question, but I wanted to leave you a compliment. Idk of you remember when I commented on one of your earlier videos from when you first started grad school when you were scared for the future endeavors of school and I encouraged you that you can do it, especially if someone like me whose married with 3 kids and teaches full time can do it. I just want to say that I'm so proud of you for sticking with it and coming out strong on the other side. My jaw dropped as you mentioned Paradise Lost bc I’m currently in a class about the devil figure and I have to read the book. I’m terrified of writing a paper about it bc I feel like I don’t have anything to add to the topic and I cannot really read Milton as well 😅 it would be an absolute blast for me if you could do a whole video about the topic! It would honestly save my grade probably 😂

As much as I love all of your recommendations… these videos are IT. this is what made me subscribe in the first place… something about just really dissecting a book and talking about it from different points of ideas and themes just ignites my reading flame! I also love easy and fluff reads but these discussions are the core of why I love to read. Great job Noelle!! Congrats on your degree, I know it was well earned.

What did you get your bachelors in?
What is the career goal now that you have a masters? (I’m working on a bachelors and thinking about getting a masters but I have no clue what types of jobs exist after a masters😭)
And one last thing, not a question but a suggestion of some classics that I love that maybe you would like to check out (though you’ve probably already read/heard of these): The Awakening by Kate Chopin, The Stranger by Albert Camus, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson ☺️

Q&A: I know that sometimes school reading can “ruin” reading for many students with the expectations/deadlines/analysis/lack of choice. Is that something you ever had to worry about or fight against? What do you do to keep some reading for enjoyment versus work/school?

I recommend The Female Quixote by Charlotte Lennox! I read it for my Jane Austen and her Contemporaries grad course and I loved it! Also thanks for the recs! I have added quite a few books to my tbr from this list! ❤️

I’m just starting to read Dracula (I’m about a third of the way through), and I’m finding it amazing. It’s a slow go for me, because it’s in the forms of journal entries, etc., but after getting over that it’s a very potent read. Old fashioned, but old fashioned can be good.

I live down the road from Elizabeth Gaskells' house! I'm also a literature student but I've never read any of her stuff - you've finally incentivised me to read North and South!

Does A Tree Grows in Brooklyn count as a classic? I adored that book and I've been searching for books that encapsulate that feeling ever since..

YESSS Wuthering Heights! Not sure how much Daphne du Maurier you've read, but if you liked WH, I think you would really like a lot of her work. It has a lot of the same atmosphere and style.
I recently finished my English degree, and some of my favorite books I read were Beowulf, The Bell Jar, Machinal by Sophie Treadwell, Othello, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, and Detransition Baby.

some questions from someone who just got into a graduate english program and is dazed and confused:
    1. i love that you mentioned feeling unqualified when you started grad school. i think it very common, i'm terrified myself. do you have any advice on how to regain your confidence, besides writing a great essay?
    2. you mentioned milton not being in your main time period. what time period is your era of expertise? (i'd guess maybe 19th century, based on the novels you mentioned here?)
    3. lastly, if you're interested in saying, where did you do your grad schooling?

Gosh I'm so interested in reading Your papers. Like the one on hands?!?!?! And these mentioned here. It's amazing how You notice those things - fruits this time. I would love to hear more "gradschool level" talk on books. Also this is the stuff I read on the daily for fun and noone to talk to about it :p
