how to crochet a flower pillow case of any size | tutorial

- With this tutorial, you can make a flower pillowcase for any size pillow you have 🌸
stitches used in this tutorial:
single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch, back loop double crochet, skip stitch
Abbreviations:
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
sk st: skip stitch
sl kn: slip knot
asterisks ** : repeat
materials:
at least 3 colors of medium 4 weight yarn (or any weight you prefer)
5 mm hook (or 3 mm for smaller squares)
scissors
threading needle
stitch markers (or bobby pins)
Buttons (1-3 depending on size)
yarn used:
soft classic solid yarn by loops & threads- in color: mauve
lion brand pound of love- in color: pastel pink
impeccable solid yarn by loops & threads- in color: white
impeccable solid yarn by loops & threads- in color: soft rose
PATTERN
For Flower Square:
row 1 of seed- ch 4, sl st to 1st ch, ch1 + 8sc (total 8 sc)
row 2 of seed- ch 3 + dc, inc in each st (total 16 dc)
cut yarn, fasten off and attach petal color to hook
row 1 of petal- ch 3 + 2dc in same st, ch 1 & skip next st, repeat (3dc + ch 1 + skip st)
pull yarn up and drop DO NOT CUT PETAL COLOR
attach background color to hook
row 1 of background- ch 3 + ch 4, dc in skipped st, repeat (ch 4 + dc )
drop background color and pick up petal yarn
row 2 of petal- ch 3 + inc +dc, ch 2, repeat (dc + inc + dc + ch2 )
drop petal color and attach background color onto hook
Row 2 of background- ch 3 + dc in same st, ch 5, repeat (2 dc + ch 5 )
drop background color and pick up petal yarn
row 3 of petal- ch 3+ inc + dc + dc, ch2, repeat ( dc + inc + dc + dc + ch 2)
row 4 of petal- ch 1 + sc in same st, skip st + 5 dc, skip st + sc + ch 2, repeat (sc + sk st + 5 dc +sk st +sc + ch 2)
cut the petal color & fasten off
row 3 of background- ch 3 + inc in next st, 5 dc in back ch, repeat ( dc + inc + 5 dc in back ch)
row 4 of background- ch 1 + sc + 1 sc in next 5 sts, hdc + dc, 2 dc + ch 2 + 2 dc in same st, repeat ( dc + hdc + 11 sc + hdc + dc + 2 dc + ch 2 + 2 dc in same st)
row 5 of background- ch 2 + 1 dc in next 3 sts, 7 dc+ dc +ch2 + dc in same st + 9 dc, repeat (4 hdc +7 dc + dc + ch 2 + dc in same st + 9 dc )
* cut yarn and fasten off*
the amount of flower squares you need depend on the size of pillow
once you have the amount of flower squares you need lay them out and attach them with sc
Back panels:
make the back piece of pillow case by measuring your pillow and dividing that number by 2 ( you will need 2 panels in order to have an opening to insert your pillow)
chain the vertical measurement of your pillow ( measured from top to bottom)
dc in second loop from your hook, dc in every loop down your chain
ch 1 and turn your work
dc in the back loop only all the way down, repeat for however many rows the half way length of your pillow is
* cut yarn and fasten off*
add the button to this panel ( watch video to see how to sew button on)
for 2nd panel
repeat the same # of chains and rows as your first panel
line up both panels and put stitch markers on where you need to put the opening for your button
dc in the back loop only until the stitch marker, count the stitches from one stitch marker to the other and that's how much you chain, (example: 5 stitches = chain 5) dc in back loop only in the stitch right after your marker, dc in back loop only all the way down
ch 1, dc in back loop only until you get to your stitch marker and do just regular dc in back loop only and continue the dc in back loop only after the chain sp all the way to the end
1 more row of dc in back loop only
cut yarn & fasten off
Putting everything together:
lay the front piece with the flowers down and lay the back panels on top of that. the panel with the opening over the panel with the button and sc attach all the way around the pillow
