RIP Melanie, still watching your videos❤
Oh Melanie. How I miss you. I can't tell you how many times I go looking for advice on a project and your videos pop up. I hope your family is doing well, with their angel watching over them. 🙏
Melanie is still helping me through her videos.
Been crocheting non stop for 6 months now. I bit the bullet and just bought a sewing machine! Can’t wait to try your tips when I’m using :)
Realy miss this amazing lady.she was so explicit in her tutorials and her voice was so clear and calm🙏🌻
❤
Where has she gone? Is she not doing tutorials anymore?
@susandonb58 she's passed from cancer, but she soldiered on doing tutorials, her funeral is on her Chanel 😢
We miss you Melanie!! Thank you for still teaching me so much 💕
Hi Melanie, I would love to see a tutorial of adding crochet borders to squares of fabric which you could join together to make a quilt from! Great tutorials! xx
I had so many crocheted pieces, granny squares lying around, then I remembered this video and how you lined these squares. I handstiched them though, and even added fancy quilting stitches, so cool. Thanks for the inspiration
I wouldn't even attempt the first way. The parchment paper looks so much faster and easier for me. Thanks Melanie, your tutorials are the best!
Dear, Melanie Ham
I want to thank you sooooooooooooo much! You have helped me with a lot of projects. Thank you! ♥️
Thank you so much for this video. I make crochet purses and hand stitch the lining.... which I hate doing. This is the info I needed. Again thank you!
Thanks so much Melanie. I have a knitted shopping bag that's just waiting for a lining and your tips will help so much. Also I love your nail polish!
Thank you for the detailed to the point “how to” gonna try the first one to have more control over my crochet piece
I cant believe I never thought of this. awesome! I can finally do some lining in purses.
This is a godsend video! I have been wanting to add fabric to knit and crochet pieces and short of hand stitching which I don't mind I've been wanting to learn to machine sew it to my work. Thank you for the details and tips. I'm gonna play more now with the knowledge I needed to get started. Thanks again.
Love the idea of using the paper..like when you sew lace together..great 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I don't sew but am looking forward to start lining my crochet pieces and this was very helpful!
we going miss you, World going to miss you THANK YOU for everything you shared with us sleep in light 💖💖💖💖💖💖
These are super cute! The first method looked pretty... stressful. Lol. But, both of them turned out really nice!
I have been waiting this video so long! Thank you so much!
I never thought of this before. Of course I'm going to try it.
Melanie,
Thank you so much for this video. As fall approaches, I'm thinking about crocheting some lined purses to go with matching scarves and caps/berets/tams, so this is really helpful!
Thank you for showing both ways. I also have seen tissue paper used Instead of parchment , pressing a hem is what I need to do thanks for the follow-up😉
Great video! I have been wanting to know how to do this for a long time!
Amazing video. Thank you for all the detail and tips. Good camera view, as well.
Thank you so much, your videos will continue to help people. ❤
Thanks for this great tutorial. I managed to use my machine to sew Minky fabric to my knitted piece. The greaseproof paper worked well, and my machine actually handled the sewing without it too.
I'll be using this method on some purses I'm putting together. Also some trivits and coasters. Some other mixed media projects too. Thanks
Great information Melanie Ham.. I started crocheting last year and would like to also start sewing again this video assisted me in my vision for using both together. I am still learning and have a way to go. I enjoy your channel and I am improving with every stitch. Best regards from Melanie Herron ;)
I like the idea of wrapping my fabric edges over the crocheted edges like a border. ❤❤❤❤
I think the parchment method makes it easier to keep sides aligned, and was tidier looking as a final project … thanks so much for the method!
Great tip. I like making crochet purses and always had to hand sew.
Perfect thank u for sharing love your videos!!!!!
A bit late to yhe video but perfect timing for me. I was looking for some guidance for a project and I found these tips really useful! Thank you!
That's awesome and it'll be a lot warmer too good idea
Mickey crochet entrelac
Thanks this is cool!Best of both worlds!
Thx for sharing! I’m converting some granny squares into decorative pillow slip covers.
I like both methods of lining the squares. I am making a purse for my grand daughter and needed to know how to do this. Thanks for this video.
Great idea, this would be a great way to add designer pockets to a sewing project.
Thank you for this great tutorial! Going to add fabric tags to my crocheted gift blankets for grandkids from Gramma:) I think the parchment paper technique will be best but will have to see how it goes. Thanks again !
Going to buy the pags to sew fabric to my knit and crochet thanks this is so helpful. I prefer the first way less fiddly.
RIP dear lady 🙏🏼
Thank you. Really helpful. Solved my problem.
Thank you for the video!
I have a cable knit throw I made a year ago that I've been really wanting to attach a cute cotton back to, after some practice on some granny squares I'm going to give this a go. I'm so glad you made this video ....thanx!
I found this video while figuring out to attach crochet to fabric to make a coin purse. I think I like method 2 better! I'll have to give them both a go and see how it goes for me and my machine. Thanks for a great helpful video! :)
Thank you!! Just what I needed🧶🤩
💕 living legacy ~ thank you
I love you DIY videos!!!!!!!😀
Thanks for the tutorial. I'll probably use the parchment paper.
I want to write a pattern to make a reversable bag and this tuturial is what i used to learn basics for the project
Hello Melanie, fantastic tutorial..thank you. Would you suggest this method for a larger piece of knitted work?
Thank you! I’m lining a purse and I believe I’ll use the first method 😊
Hi, I wanted to do some upcycled garments incorporating crocheted pockets, yokes, and sleeves. Thanks for a great way to attach crochet to fabric
Thank you this was very helpful.
So happy I found this tutorial! I have a crocheted rectangle that I want to make into a throw pillow but wasn't sure how to attach the fabric. I will try the parchment paper method since it looks easier and less likely to mess up the machine. Thanks!
I've never seen this done. Thank you for sharing! Putting my two loves together!
Thank-you! Always wondered if this was do able and you've demonstrated it is. Would basting vs pin/clip hinder the process?
Very helpful thank you so much
Thank you x
Hi melaine, just wondering if you have any video on how to join these pieces to make a blanket afterwards or how to do it? Thanks, your videos are very helpful 😉
Thanks I needed this info
I’m creating crochet headbands/ear warmers with a satin lining. But the lining does not have any stretch.
I’ve prepped my 1st test lining (which is slightly longer than my crochet piece) with a stretch cord on each side so I can gather the lining a bit before sewing onto the headband.
I love the idea of using the parchment paper underneath because I feel that I need to keep an eye on the lining more so than the crochet side.
This is so helpful 💕
Awesome!
I appreciate this tutorial...very helpful for a project I hope to do soon. THANKS!
These are amazing!!!! How do you put them together to make a blanket?
Thanks for making this tutorial. I plan to use this to line a hat for my mother in law. I will probably try to line some of my crochet dresses and swim suits in the future
I think this is great. I have done change purses that were crocheted and then I put in a lining by hand. This would work a lot better though and be a lot faster. I was trying to find a way to stabilize a crocheted belt so that it would still look got and not stretch out of shape . I think this is going to be a fabulous way to to it. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Happy Stitching!
What a great prize package.
thank you so much for that xxxx
What size needle do we need to use on the machine? Thanks!
You have beautiful hands for this excellent demonstration! Thanx....you gave me some options to consider!
Very good!
Hi Melanie I like your cup
I'm making a top and I want to make it sturdier but I didn't knew if it would be safe to sew crochet in the machine, thanks for the tutorial :D
Thank you
Can this be done by hand?
Great video.
How to you attach these together afterward to make a blanket?
Hello. I love Your videos and I was wondering if you could recommend a sewing machine for me that’s reasonable and durable. Thank You
What nail polish is that? So pretty & metallic!
soo awesome job. I have a question. what if I have a small throw that was crocheted up but I want to use that piece as if it was fabric and I want to make a pattern with it. Meaning can I sew it and then cut off the rest that isn't needed?
you can't cut into crochet as you would fabric because it would open up the stitches and the whole row you cut into will fall apart.
Hi Melanie. I am working on a blanket made of granny squares. Am I correct in assuming that you join all the squares to make the blanket first, then add the fabric as described? If so, how do you deal with loose fabric around the inside area/middle of the project? Do you need to stitch more like a quilt?
after attaching fabric how would you join the squares
I think you will join the fabric after joining the pieces first.
Make the fabric a wee bit smaller than the crochet, so that the top loops are still available to crochet through.
You could use a sharper needle that can go trough the fabric? 😁
I love your videos I’m so happy you made this video
I will use it to line purses to start. Then maybe garments one day.
I think using a "walking foot" might with moving the crochet piece along. I'll have to try this out, as I want to add some fabric to a piece i crocheted.
I was thinking the same. Did you try the walking foot?
@@allyscraftycreations actually no, it was for a top I wanted to wear (bikini top with sort of a skirt/shirt to cover the belly. But I didn't like the way it looked on me just pinned. So I didn't bother.
Love
Are you taking video requests?
I'd love a tutorial on how to make a double sided or reversible quilt. 😊
I'm wondering could you do the same using an overlocker/Serger? Even if the crochet got cut by the blade, would the stitch keep the crochet together afterwards? 🧐
How would you add a fleece border on your project
What about if I wanted to line a crochet shawl with jersey material (t-shirt)? Would I need to use a zigzag stitch so it can stretch or should I keep the straight stitch?
I was given a pile of these already sewn together but I don't know what to do with them. Can you give me some ideas? Thanks.
Nice.please tell about sewing machine brand and model.
GREAT tutorial. What kind of sewing machine do you have?
Brigitte Tringas Juki
Tu so much for this video. I’m planning to attach a woven appliqué to a crocheted blanket. These tips will b a big help.
I would fold the material over edge around the sc row
I wanted to know how to do this. Not sure which of the sewing machine ways will work best for me. I’m making some crocheted burp cloths with lining of course. The crochet part turned out nice for a gift for a baby shower but they need a Absorbing lining for the spit up. I wasn’t sure how to sew on the lining to withstand the multiple washing. But now the linings will look cute and not be puckered all over. ( I hope).
Thank you very much for the video; one question; how is it called the foot you recommend ? You say you do not recomend the "walking foot" but which one you recommend? Thank You. 😊
why would you not sew fabric side up? just curious? thanks for tutorial.
Will this work also with kint
I pin my items and use the walking foot.
What an easy way of joining motifs
Hello Melanie! I've knitted a couple of beanies and earwarmers, and as I have curly hair that gets fuzzy with the knitted fibers, I was wondering how to line them with a satin fabric. How would you go to get this done on items that are already knitted?
I'm trying to figure this out, too! In this situation you want the crochet to be able to still stretch to pull over your head. Have you figured anything out that works?
