+Chuck Gee awesome Chuck - enjoy the ride! :)
I've always used Lesco products from JD Landscapes but I am going to try your program this coming spring. Time to take the lawn off drugs!
Just got my 1st bg. Of Milo yesterday. Very eager to see the results! 💦🌞
allen what would you do for moss?
I want to get a spreader like the one you use. What setting do you set yours on? How do you determine what setting you use? Thanks
Is it better to cut and edge your grass before fertilizing or should you fertilize while the grass is taller and wait for a few days to mow? Thanks Ron
Thanks Alan, love your channel.
TopNotchLawns thanks brotha!
Question if u know it ph dose it make a different what fertilizer to use
Can I still add milorganite to my lawn even if I have people come out and treat them like true green?
OK, just want to make a correction on this, Conventional fertilizer, is 8-12 weeks and it also depends on what brand you buy. Conventional fertilizer now have very high tech coatings on them that slows the release of nitrogen into the soil. This is not the stuff that was used 5 years ago and it's not the stuff that was used 20 years ago. Professional fertilizers are now hovering around 50% slow release nitrogen and there are talks that 60% will be common place in the next 5 years. Organic is 4-6 weeks. Biosolids like milorganite need to go down every 4-5 weeks. Specially when its really hot outside. When soil temperatures are at their peak that is when you see the best results from organic fertilizer. Turf grass need anywhere from 2lbs of nitrogen to 4 lbs of nitrogen per 1000 ft² per year. If you want high end turf lean towards the 4 lbs per 1000 ft², if you want healthy grass then go with 2 lbs ft². For anyone that is reading this. If your lawn care provider is using liquid fertilizer, request granular fertilizer. Liquid fertilizer is not slow release and their are slow release liquids on the market but, the people that are spraying are not using those products due to price. Granular fertilizer only.
Which one do you recommend?
@@l31007 it all depends on the quality of turf you want and the upkeep you are willing to do.
Do the neighborhood dogs count for fertilization? Great videos!!
RUHDD4HVN lol in come cases they do! :)
Damn goin from that suv to audi's... show me your ways lawn god!
Greetings Lawn Care Nut! I hope all is well! Question: How much Nitrogen should my lawn be getting in a single year and also how much should it get in a single application. Tomorrow, I plan to put down Ringer Lawn Restore II which is 10-0-6 and also a crabgrass pre-emergent from Lesco that is 19-0-7. Do you recommend this move or is this too much nitrogen? Let me know! Thanks Bro!!
+Roshawn Parker you can put those two down together. I;m not a fan of the pre-m that also contains fert like you got but its probably the best alternative you have. For the nitrogen, a lawn should get 3lbs per year with is .75 lbs per application. 4 applications per year. it's ok to go a little heavier than that when you are re-habbing a lawn.
Hey Sir, another question, I was wondering how do you feel about using Lime on the lawn before or mix the two (Milorganite and Lime) when fertilizing in the Spring? My dogs have been using yard as a out house (better than my carpet) and was wondering about the soil when Spring time came around (I do clean it but....) I read that I would POSSIBLY need to drop Lime on my lawn, due to the acidity. Thanx in advance!!
nukemhight13 lime can help but typically dog urine damage is in concentrated spots which a broad app of lime won't help with. The only way I've ever found that works for dog urine damage is in training the dogs to go in an area you designate. If you can train them not to go on your carpet, you can train them to go in the back corner of the lawn. :)
Thank You!!
Hello Allen,
My name is David, I live in the Marysville OH area. The temperature here in early spring is between 50 to 60 degrees. I am wanting to fertilize my yard.
I want to my front yard to have a thicker look. What do you suggest the best fertilizer for a thicker lawn.
Thank you,
David
Hey David, thanks for your question. If you just want a simple reco, apply this now and again in 4 weeks thelawncarenut.com/collections/granular-fertilizer/products/24-0-6-flagship-with-3-iron-and-bio-nite%E2%84%A2?variant=40944962994314 if you want to know "why" I recommend that product, sign up for my training class YardCareBootCamp.com
First off, Awesome channe!!l, I watch/listen to your advice, I have a question if you dont mind. I'm going to be using Milorganite this spring (Mid April-mid May) on my lawn, but...I have areas that have moss (I live in Spokane WA, got big trees in my yard) should I first use Moss out, let it dry, thatch the moss, then use the Milorganite?? What do you think? Thanks in advance!!!
nukemhight13 moss is an indication of a soil pH issue. Trying to kill the moss will not solve the problem. You have to try and cure what is causing that moss which is the amount of shade. My advice is to prune and thin out the trees and let the sun dry out the moss naturally. Using Milorganite won't make a difference there one way or the other. Make sense?
sure does!! thanks for the advice!!
At 12 bucks a bag it gets expensive
Did my question get deleted?
P Spinks I don't see it
2x a year is the real answer
Best case 1x with nitrogen based
1x with traditional solid fertilizer
Every 5 weeks sounds a bit too much.
