    You know, I'm normally against bootlegs, but I'll make an exception for the best musical ever written that is hardly ever produced.

      Agreed. Saw the original production at the Lincoln centre and changed my view of musicals forever. Why this isn’t a top, often produced, show I will never understand. It is one of the best pieces of theatre, not just musical theatre, I have ever seen.

      luckily this has changed thanks to the broadway revival, and i can see this show becoming much more commonly produced in the future

      Don’t forget orchestrator Don Sebesky, who collaborated with Jason and did pretty much 75% of the original work! He’s deserves as just much praise for this if not more, which Jason makes note of in his speech at the very end of this concert.

      @Gavin O'Connor You are still half right, though!
      Jason Robert Brown is still a talented orchestrator(as well as musician) on his own, as he also collaborated with David Cullen(best known for collaborating with Andrew Lloyd Webber on Phantom of The Opera and other shows) in developing the 9 piece orchestrations for the Donmar Warehouse/Mark Taper Forum productions of Parade, and he also fully orchestrated his other own works, along with other composer’s work as well, including The Last Five Years, 13, Urban Cowboy, John and Jen by Andrew Lipa, New York Rock by Yoko Ono, Prince of Broadway(which he also composed the finale song "Do the Work": ua-cam.com/video/ezUkOaxGWbk/v-deo.html), and The Bridges of Madison County, for which he won the Tony Award for(along with Best Original Score) in 2014(and those orchestrations are my favorite of his)!

    The guy in this slime tutorial who plays the Old Man in the "Ol' Red Hills of Home", I swear he's the guy who sang Antony in the 1980's Telecast of Sweeney Todd - could someone confirm????

    • @michaelwilliamybarra2409
      @michaelwilliamybarra2409 4 роки тому +1

      Yes it is!
      His name is Davis Gaines, and he's also played Anthony in the 2000 NYC and 2001(the latter being been televised) San Fransisco concert productions of Sweeney Todd, with George Hearn reprising his Broadway Replacement/National Tour(televised with Angela Lansbury) role as Sweeney, Patti Lupone playing Mrs. Lovett, and Neil Patrick Harris as Tobias Ragg(ua-cam.com/video/tJNPEhXBEbQ/v-deo.html).
      He's also best known for his portrayal of The Phantom of The Opera, originated the lead role of "The Man" in the Washington DC production of Whistle Down The Wind, and has also played this role of The Old Solider/Judge Roan in the 2009 L.A. production of Parade at the Mark Taper Forum, with T.R. Knight(of Grey's Anatomy fame) as Leo, and Lara Pulver(Irene Adler in BBC Sherlock) reprising her London originated portrayal of Lucille!
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davis_Gaines
      Oh, and also he played the role of Hugh Dorsey in later versions of the 3-D Theatricals production of Parade, which also had Rufas Bonds Jr. reprising his Broadway originated role of Jim Conley!
      Hope this info helps. :)

    • @michaelwilliamybarra2409
      @michaelwilliamybarra2409 4 роки тому

      I'm sorry, but I made a mistake about your initial question.
      If you're referring to the Televised production of Sweeney Todd with George Hearn and Angela Lansbury, then no, this is not the same guy who played Antony in that production. That actor was Cris Groenendaal.
      If you're referring to the "Sweeney Todd Rare 1980 South Bank Show Doc-London Cast" documentary videos, than no, this is also not the same guy who played Antony in that production. That actor was Andrew C. Wadsworth.
      Or is this 1980's Telecast you're taking about something different from those two productions I mentioned?
      Everything else I said about Davis Gaines(from playing Antony in the 2000-2001 concerts with George and Patti, to the Mark Taper and 3-D Theatricals) is true though.
