Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan and Tony winner Laura Benanti will star as Leo Frank and Lucille Frank in Manhattan Concert Productions' February 16 presentation of Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry's musical Parade at Avery Fisher Hall. Though the show has only a short preparation period, Brown and the cast - which also includes Ramin Karimloo, Katie Rose Clarke, John Ellison Conlee, Joshua Henry, and many more - welcomed the press into a recent rehearsal. The company previewed the songs "The Old Red Hills of Home" and "This Is Not Over Yet," which sound incredible even without the concert's full orchestra and choir.

Don't try to tell me that Jason Robert Brown didn't invent the piano.
I’m never going to be tired of JRB’s piano playing. There is no one that can fill a room with just two hands. He plays piano like it’s both rhythm and lead guitar, and bass guitar, and there is a brass horn in there somewhere.
And this is best example of Jeremy Jordan, aka restrained and grounded. And Bernanti is perfect as ever.
But JRB steals the song.
JRB's going to town on that piano. Also Jeremy and Laura are amazing- but that's a given.

That’s because he’s Jason Robert Brown 😅 there’s a reason that they ask people not to bring his music to auditions - because it requires incredible rhythmic and pitch accuracy to be executed properly
I know Jason Robert Brown wrote the show but the fact that he has the songs all of his songs memorized like that just show how much of a genius he is
Director Harold Prince(May his memory be a blessing) has often praised Jason for his knack and understanding of the musical form, but also for being just as talented as a musician as well!
He said that ever since his daughter Daisy Prince(who herself would later collaborate with Jason, as the director of the original Off Broadway production of The Last Five Years) introduced Jason to him, after Stephen Sondheim turned down Hal's offer to do the score for Parade(which was because Stephen felt so emotionally tensed from writing the score of Passion four years ago, and wanted to work on lighter material at that point(which became Road Show, his currently latest work)), he and the rest of the Prince family pretty much became a part of Jason's personal fan club as well!

I am so having fun watching different renditions of this song by the likes of Ben Platt, Brandon Uronowitz and now Jeremy Jordan. JRB's piano is imppeccable then and now. He's that good! Leo Frank is a pretty complex character, isn't he? I love it!
Ben Ross' version is also amazing and the number one for me atm.
Jeremy Jordan is sublime and amazing (in all things and this in particular), but I would watch this just for them piano accomapnying skillz.

The singing was great, but come on. The pianoist deserves huge accolades for maintaining constant 16th notes throughout the entire song. He is a fine musician AND an athlete.
That's Jason Robert Brown! He wrote and composed the show, and is known on Broadway for the hardest piano parts in the business.

@@callanengstrom2532 I've played one full JRB score (L5Y) and you earn your stripes after doing so. I think it's one of his "easier" scores, but good heavens did it have intricate moments!!!

As I completely agree with this, the musical does not fit societal “norms”, as in it is a. Very controversial musical that people don’t necessarily find interesting. I love this musical. I was in it and I loved it but it isn’t exactly the most comedic musical and that is was people want in musicals these days. The story is fascinating and the music is incredible but that isn’t all what people want in musicals.

It took me until the second or third viewing to notice it was JRB on the piano. I don't know why I would think it would be anyone else....
Look at the piano too. There's no sheet music. He's doing the song from from memory. If you've ever played piano and tried to play JRB music, that is damn impressive.

so this song sounded promising in a video promoting the current staging, but i despise ben platt's voice, so i am glad this exists. i think the bridges of madison county is the most boring show ever, but it sounds like jason robert brown can actually write a good melody!

Tenors straight steal everything it's annoying as hell
Taycen Timothy that’s funny cus in high school productions (like mine) tenor roles go to baritones, which frustrates me too. but i see ur pain cus this is the professional world and many great baritones r out there. and i also noticed in musicals most of the lead men are tenors and i have yet to see a bass hav a big part.... hm not sure why that is maybe it isnt flashy enough?

I thought Jordan has a stronger, better developed, better sounding voice than Ben Platt. But after seeing Platt in performance in the show last night, I humbly retract my opinion. They both have amazingly gifted voices, just a bit different in style.
