Welcome to the Upcycle Design Lab. I craft with recycled, repurposed, and unwanted materials. There is a lot of experimenting with trash and recyclables to make them "new" again. If you enjoy reusing, repairing, and re-imagining old items, I hope you will stick around and check out some of my other Upcycling tutorials and join those of us who are rethinking the things we throw away.

Ohhh how cute! Love these,thanks!❤
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching 😊
SUGGESTION: Cut the two half pieces to desired size. Put the bottom half in the freezer for 15 minutes. At the same time, put the top half in very hot water. Cold will shrink while hot will expand. When assembled and sitting at room temp, they will be heat-shrunk permanently, huh? How cool is that? Very!
Interesting thanks I am curious to try that out. Thanks for watching.
Very! Thank you
I REALLY like these lil containers. They are soooooo cute!!! Im definitely going to try this. Ive just got to get some tools together first. Im so excited!!! 💕
Hi - I am so happy you are inspired. Have fun. 🙂
Thank you Cindy, really beautiful. Love from Ireland
Thank you so much!
I LOVE this!!! I found your channel just this afternoon and have watched several tutorials already. The first one I watched was the original one for this project. I was HOOKED. I went on and just found this one. I absolutely sat here and felt almost giddy...LOL. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us all.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Love, love, love! ❤️

Wow, CUTE. The crisco candle idea is really good, those copper pots look very high end for being pop cans, lol. Nice!

Honey your an artistic genius.but there is no way I'm taking that much time.and looks a bit complicated. Very cute though. I like simple and quick
Hi Charity - Thanks for watching. Believe or not I did make it simpler. 😁😁
I'm another binge watcher since this morning. You projects are amazing!
Hi Stacy - welcome! So happy to have you along for my crazy trashy adventures. 🙂
Found this originally on Pinterest, LOVE your written article there. So glad I followed through to youtube. Keep doing your thing, your way, from a grateful new subscriber.
Hi Debra - Welcome to my little UA-cam Community. I am happy to hear you like my quirky crafting and writing style. 🙂🙂
Love your tutorials.
Thanks Sharon 🙂
I had made a little sterno stove at one time, out of an aluminum can. I did not slit either side to put them together. It took some coaxing...but I was able to slide them together without cutting that slit.
Yes a regular can opener works
These are awesome. You were making me nervous not having gloves on so you didn't get cut. I'm on to watching another of your videos. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Marguerite - I like to live dangerously 🙂🙂🙂 Actually the cans aren't very dangerous but you can get a nasty paper cut from them. Thanks for watching.
I have watched your first vid several times and now this one. Yes, seems much easier! You are so clever, Cindy. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks bunches 🙂
I love these great little gifts.
Thanks 😊

So cute and practical! Love!!!
Hi Lesley - thanks 😊
Love these.
Thanks 😊
You can also use a can opener!
Yes you can use a traditional can opener but in my experience it sometimes damages the can. Thanks for watching 😊
Very cute.
Thanks 😊

I found your channel thru the home talk emails! I love upcycling stuff like this!!! I seriously need to try this for a cute fall project!
Thanks David - enjoy 🙂
A regular can opener also works for removing the tops.
Hi thanks for watching. Yes I have used a regular can opener on occasion but sometimes it tears into the side of the can so I prefer the draft top since I have it. You can also remove the tops with sand paper. The video below shows how and also compares all three methods if you are interested. 🙂

How about adding 4 tabs as fancy mini pot feet?
Well I hadn't thought of that but I love the idea. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
I just had your video show up on my recommendations Helen...(I know your name is Cindy but to me you'll always be Helen cause I like that name) And may I say Helen, I love this! I myself would never do this project (I don't do crafts) but even so...I enjoyed the video and finished product very much.
Just an FYI, those tabs are bent to 90* angles, not 45.
Why did you remove the top of the can if you were going to just glue it back on? I'm confused.
Hi the top is still removable. The part that is glued on is just to make the lid look more rounded. 🙂
The patina on the ones with the candles in is gorgeous, the copper too. I also liked the addition of the chain. Just one negative point…wayyyy too much talking and preamble which is not needed. Most people who would be interested in making these, don’t need as much advice or pre instructions.
Anyone who needs this much detail should not be permitted to handle sharp objects.
Thanks for watching 😊
6:24: "i'm just gonna bend them to a 45 degree angle." .. bends the tabs to 90 degrees. SAKES
Sorry I misspoke.
Polite question … how is this in any way environmentally friendly when you are suggesting all you need is an aerosol spray, two types of glue, a couple of single-purpose gadgets (probably manufactured in China and shipped thousands of miles)? Is this not just greenwashing? And what will be the lifespan of the objects you’re making? There are many more craft projects which are biodegradable and much less harmful to the environment.
Perhaps you don’t recycle in the US as you describe aluminium as ‘trash’?
Hi Jackie - I am not sure I understand your criticism. If you think it is greenwashing that is your prerogative. I am not an environmentalists I am merely a crafter sharing things that can be made from items that are normally discarded.
