You are literally the Queen of Charms! Everything you make is lovely, but you definitely excel at charms. No matter what old thing you cut up to make them, they always look so professional and shop-bought. I love your voice and the way you pronounce your English, and watching you work is so soothing because you're very "calm" and your voice turns almost to a whisper when you're engrossed in the process. Alice can have her Queen of Hearts... ...but we have our Queen of Charms! 👸🤗😘💖
My husband found a huge roll of thin copper at a yard sale, and I've been cutting and embossing ever since. That was over 10 years ago. I'm getting really low, so I will be using our aluminum cans next. You are doing an amazing job with this. If you ever get any thin copper, try the same thing, then put it in Miracle gro plant fertilizer Mixed with water and beautiful verdigris will gather in the nooks and crannies, creating beautiful works of art. I love this video.❤❤❤
Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing that amazing information with me. I have some wide self adhesive copper tape that I’ve never used. I am excited to try your technique with miracle grow!
Great ideas. Years ago when I started doing this, the cans were thicker. Since they're thinner now, I put wax paper between the dies and the can, which helps the die cuts come out easier and with less damage.
Just amazing! Believe it or not I have been saving aluminum cans that I flattened, but I had no idea what to do with them. Thanks for the awesome idea! ❤😊
This is a fantastic idea! I can hardly wait to play! It gives me the satisfaction of having created something out of found objects, and goods on my daily rounds. The techniques you use are fascinating

Beautiful charms. Thank you. I tried long time ago a similar idea I dont have all these colours, but i found that if you heat the aluminium or burn it over the flame of the stove carefully the silver colour of the can will become gold then will turn bronze with all its grades . I liked the result
The tops from sour cream dig foods or any of the aluminum sheet type tops can be used doing this. I made several from the aldi dog food tubs. I love how they all turned out.

Hello, Aluminum doesn't rust, so you would be waiting a long time for rust to show up. Rust is oxidized iron. Thanks for sharing your process though! Lots of good ideas, ❤
You’re very welcome! Glad you liked it. Oh, I know the aluminum doesn’t rust but I was hoping when I placed it in the rust it might stick to it, as in color it. The same way I dye papers with rust. To my disappointment it just slid off, it wouldn’t stick to it at all 😊
@@Saacibo Yes, this is why airplanes are made from aluminum, so they don't rust and because no metal sticks to it, making airplanes aerodynamic. I do think aluminum patinas, but it's a white crusty film that isn't very interesting and hard to see..
This week this is a second revolution in the world I love to escape to. The first one was in yesterday’s video of Treasure Books channel (backing up magazine images with no glue, project 12). In this video the material and creations made of it are both extraordinary. I am afraid to cut myself and aluminum cans do not enter my house (and if they do, in my province in Canada we bring them to the bottle depot to get the deposit money back). But still, super interesting. I wonder if I can do something similar with several layers of heavy-duty foil I use in my cooking… Need to try that.
Unfortunately, cutting up the cans is a bit of a risk. A few people mentioned in the comments that they like to cut aluminum trays, the ones that are used for baking. I haven’t tried with those, yet. Aluminum foil is thin but perhaps gluing it first to card stock and then cutting might work. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. I appreciate it very much ❤️❤️❤️
Fun! Fun! Fun! Drink up! You always have such a variety of techniques/twists to make the same thing look so different. Thank you for sharing your talents 😍
I started cutting up cans like this a few months ago when I realized how thin the walls of Pellegrino Essenza cans are. I found that if you rip off the key on top (so it doesn’t get in the way) you can use an Oxo type can opener on the side edge of the top to get the top off. Then I just use a utility shears (or pruning scissors) to cut down the side and then work around the bottom to get that off. It is a whole lot less dangerous than using a craft knife.
