- Another compilation of adverts from various dates. Ads for British Pork, the Talbot Samba, Maxwell House, Air Canada, McCowans Highland Toffee, British Caledonian, Westbourne Shopping Centre, Rice Krispies, Tennent's, Vogue, The Leeds, McCain Oven Chips, Edinburgh Evening News, Quaker Harvest Chewy Bars, KP Skips, Evening News Classifieds, Corn Flakes, Roses, British Telecom. Phew!
when an advert WAS an advert!
From 7,65% interest !!!!!! Those were the days. Bloody banks
Is that David Thewlis in the Skips advert?
I was thinking the same thing 😂
he did quite a few adverts in the 80s
Fine Fare Barrhead! Now a Tesco, unsurprisingly.
4:09 The Rice Krispies jingle is bangin
RIP George Cole
This video reminds me of how much I wish McCain's chips/french fries were easily available in the US. As of the time I am typing this, the only place in the US I can find them is from a restaurant supply store and you have to buy a huge amount.
Yes Adverts were actually Adverts then!
@1:50 - Isn't that Trevor Byfield ? He played "Mr Salmon" in the episode of ONE FOOT ON THE GRAVE when they're all stuck in the traffic, and he was also in the ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES episode "STAGE FRIGHT".
OMG, I remember that Air Canada advert, though I couldn't understand it then. I laughed when I saw those two milk bottles placed outside, but how would the passengers cope without their luggage?
5:59,that was a bloody long time ago!
Pres compilation tapes are a lucky dip really, nothing is never in order - The one I have is labelled as having Scottish stuff on it but not all of it! I grouped together ads that didn't seem to have any matching continuity.
Blow me down, So this tape goes from 1982 - late 80s? bit of mix bag then, I never though it would be so wide!
Airline of the Year award was in 1983. It seems the few different years on the tape but NO later then 1985?
Back when it was Scottish
The first four ads appear to be from early 1982, during series 3 of Minder (c.f. X reg).
Highland Toffee (John Le Mesurier voicing from beyond the grave?) and British Caledonian appear to be early 1984, c.f. the TV Eye sting before them.
I see the Vogue ad mis-spells "Kirkcaldy". And 623058 is wrong - the later ads here *are* from the later 80s.
How archaic BT adverts and the notion of using a landline seems now
Great Lockheed tri star on the air Canada and air caledonian ads before the woke .emission lot ruined the planes. Weard out ad about the newspaper, remember them, can anyone translate the barrhead advert wtf did he shout about
