moved to Edmonton from europe. I loved this city from the first day! Summer is so beatiful! Now winter but I like it too. It so beatiful outside. Very fresh air. Edmonton Love You!!!
I used to live in edmonton, and I've been sitting here watching these videos and missing it so much, it all means so much to me and I can't believe I had to leave. I miss everything about it.
Thumb up, for not only the beautiful city but also the high quality of this video. This is among the best resolutions on youtube. Usually I skip a lot when watching such videos but this one deserves watching through.
I've lived in many Canadian cities. Edmonton is a very special place indeed. The #1 thing I like about it is that it's unpretentious. Whereas other Canadian cities like Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal have a large population of pretentious unbearable hipster-wannabe rich kids. This city doesn't attract that kind of crowd and therefore remains relatively unspoiled and clean from that vibe. Here I feel like I am really in Canada, I feel like the old values that brought up this country are still alive among Edmontonians. Here I've met the kindest people in all of Canada. They're upfront and honest and generous and caring. I can't say the same thing about other provinces. I really feel like Alberta gets a very bad and undeserved reputation in other provinces. This is also the only place in all of Canada where the locals will try to strike up a conversation with you as a stranger. Anywhere else in Canada people are paranoid and scared and severely antisocial and remain in their little cliques for life. Here I've met so many awesome people without even trying. The rivervalley is gorgeous to go for a walk or for a run. The LRT is surprisingly fast, allowing you to travel across the city quite quickly. The police officers are called Peace Officers, something that I love. There are tons of missions and addiction centers and homeless shelters to look after those in need. Yeah it might not be the most beautiful city and its infrastructure might not be the most modern, but I am very grateful to Edmonton and its people for such a lovely experience 💖
James Philly the people on the country side of Edmonton -spruce grove - are honestly the best people you’ll ever meet they are so nice and the streets are always clean. I live out here and when we go to the city we are always struck with how rude everyone is and how much trash there is. In Calgary the most beautiful city is Cochrane, the town is something you’d see in the movies and is always beautiful no matter what.
The peace officers are not police officers. They are basically highly trained security guards. The police carry fire arms with more training than a peace officer. More cost efficient to have peace officers apparently.
Edmonton is the size of chicago but only has a million people. It has more green space than any city in north america and second in the world. River valley park system is 16x the size of central park. In the summer alone it has 37 festivals. The folk fest and Fringe theatre festivals(second only to edinburgh) are amongst the best and largest in the world. I have seen locally written and produced plays that would go on to play off broadway and London a year before NYC and London saw them. It has all the benefits of any urban center with a small town, country feel. Anyone who says there's nothing to do has never looked for things. Music Theatre Culture is abundant in edmonton. It's an amazing city to live in if you like peace, quite, space, nature, yet culture. All cities have good and bad. All cities are boring if you sit on your couch and don't get out and seek all your city has to offer.
Trish Hach Sort of like Calgary. Right? I live in Los Angeles and every chance I get, you would see me either somewhere in the middle of Hollywood or at My Favorite Beach(Santa Monica).
Trish Hach Planning on moving from Toronto to Edmonton. Got to admit, i'm a little nervous. Not sure the best way to do a long distance move. My biggest fear is looking for an apartment online and when i get there, i find it's in the worst area and cockroach infested. Guess i'll just have to hope for the best. Would it be safe to assume that, since it is a city, that it has it's share of multiculturalism? I would hate to go without my West Indian food.

We live in North Austin and are dying to get away from here and are currently doing research for places to move in Canada. So far, we are looking at Edmonton and St John's, Newfoundland. Trying to compare costs of living and crime and things to do with older kids. St John's speaks to me, but not sure it's so affordable, and seems there may not be much for our older kids to do. any advice?
I love all the life and culture Edmonton has! Canada is not boring at all, I love living here. Vancouver, Edmonton & Toronto are my top 3 favourite Canadian cities
I really don't understand why some people bash Edmonton so much, if you find it boring then don't go, and if you live there, then move. What people need to understand is that Edmonton is not Paris, Rome, London or whatever city you think is beautiful, Edmonton has its own kind of beauty, and if you fail to see it, then keep it moving because it's not for you. I love this city, I love the tranquility, the cleanliness, the people and how it's a balance between city and nature, sure like every city it has its ups and downs and its good and bad parts, but that's every city around the world. I used to go regularly up to Edmonton, haven't been back in a while but plan on doing so, coming from a hectic city like NYC one tends to appreciate cities like Edmonton a lot.

+Daniel Bishop and to everyone and anyone who thinks Edmonton would be the perfect tourist destination; it's not. What you'll find will be the following: - homeless/poor people living off your spare change and welfare while fighting with each other for the recyclable pop cans in public/residential/commercial garbage bins. - Drunks out disturbing the public in broad daylight - Drug addicts hanging out by mall entrances and public transit stations - hookers trying to get the wealthiest customers - Bad transit operators asking people on board for directions and skipping bus stops. - Bad drivers and accidents. - A lot of traffic - Jaywalkers - Rude people with big mouths (most likely mentally challenged or not Canadian) talking trash in public. - Random fights and people getting arrested - Rapists/molesters looking for an easy slice of cake. - irresponsible pet owners allowing their dogs to run freely in the streets and scare the living crap out of smaller dogs and their owners. - Missing/closed sidewalks and pathways. - Construction and detours EVERYWHERE I could go on and on but I'd be better off publishing a book about everything that's wrong with Edmonton than to list it all in one comment. EvilMuffin I could make a video demonstrating everything I listed in my previous comment. Today Outside of work (Downtown) there are a few posters looking for a witness to crimes and accidents. On my way to work (I use public transit) a drug addict threatened the bus driver to let him in or he'd get all four gangs he's a member of to beat him up (this was in Westmount transit centre). Returning from work this native drunk guy put his hand over my sisters' shoulder in the bus trying to restrain her from switching seats. On my way home from dinner the 128 bus driver asked some dude smoking when he was supposed to leave the station and the dude said right now, so he left (he still had 5 more minutes till departure). Almost arriving home and I saw 2 pit bulls running around freely one outside their house and the other chasing a kid on a skateboard. Jaywalkers, bad drivers and construction are kind of what Edmonton's streets are made up of so i see them any time, in fact three cars almost crashed with the 150 bus when turning right cuz some chick jaywalked instead of going the long way around because the sidewalk is closed due to construction. All this really does happen on a daily basis all over Edmonton. Whether it be Northgate, Westmount, Kingsway, Castledowns, Clareview, Stadium, University, Southgate, Downtown, Jasper Place, West Ed., you name it. I've traveled all over Edmonton and know it like the back of my hand and there hasn't been one area where I haven't experienced or seen on the news of things like these that happen. Don't know where you live but I bet it's more got to do with a lack of attention to your surroundings or you don't go out often.
Edmonton is absolutely a very beautiful city. Even though I was born and raised in the area. Born in Tofield. 40 minutes east of the city. And raised in the city. I have family living in the city today too.
I spent two weeks in Edmonton late August 1973 and the people reminded me of Salt Lake City - very polite and helpful. I am from the US, but my best friend was from Alberta.
We are moving back to Edmonton after the holidays, we lived there before.Nice city, lots of work and the people are most friendly than Calgary in General.

Rkan Shamie its very true, this is a big problem in seattle, theres a very in depth documentary about how big of am issue it is, and as the documentary itself mentions; its not a homeless problem, its a drug problem.

WOW, this was the BEST EDMONTON VIDEO EVER! Used to live in Edmonton but circumstances had me move back to Regina but I miss Edmonton. Maybe I can make a Regina video.
Thank you for this video! My husband is working in Edmonton right now, and I will be there in a few weeks! :) Im very happy for that, this city is beautyfull!
Plenty of videos filmed on mobile phones. It's very hard to enforce a filming ban on that. I was filming using a rig, stabilizer and a large video camera, not something you can hide. Mind you that this was in 2011 where stabilizing equipment was bulkier. Actually one of the first places I've tried to film was inside the mall but was quickly stopped by mall security. Anyway, as I've mentioned, it's just a mall with more stores and an indoor amusement / water parks. Edmonton has more to offer than a mall you can find in almost any urban center.
When someone is depressed they don't think people will care. She was only 12 then... She dealt with abuse and bullying before she passed away... Not everyone thinks the same.
No idea why possible fake threats happened? I mean come on that's childish. Adults don't bully or troll. If you are one sad since my nieces know better. Also sorry if this was stupid. But yeah one crosses the line when they tell others to end their life...
Hi Yiheng, everywhere is heated indoors in Edmonton. It is not as expensive to live here as other parts in canada but it will require you to have like 800 - 900 dollars a month for rent and food. 400 - 600 a month if you are renting a room and like 200 a month should be enough for food if you cook at home. 250 tops. I hope you get into UAlberta ) Happy studies
I am from Montreal and moved in Winnipeg (not really the best place to live in my own opinion, everything is just all over the place), but I am planning to move to Edmonton or just go back to Montreal. This video helped me to know more about Edmonton. Based on the video alone, I can say it is a beautiful indeed.

Professional Local Businesses Could you please tell me more about Edmonton ? It seems like a beautiful city to live and I might be visiting there soon after I finish my 3rd year of Nursing school. :) Thanks !
I’m 59. From Birmingham UK. When I was 17 I met a girl on holiday over here. She came from Alberta. I fell in love with her and I still think of her. She asked me to go back to Alberta with her. She said her father had a car dealership and I’ve always wished I had. Her name was Claire Eddington. Canada looks a wonderful place and regrets run deep inside me.
The bumper to bumper crawl of Edmonton traffic isn't represented very well, but yes, those are various streets, avenues and parks available to be walked around in in the fair city of Edmonton. Good job. You nailed this place.
@GG I completely agree. I ride a motorcycle there all the time and I always feel quite safe. And edmonton at rush hour is easier than Toronto or vancouver during off hours.
Edmonton is a city (1million population!) that has everything to offer from the best entertainment, most artistic, from active to peaceful and pastoral. I enjoy all aspects of the city I love...Edmonton! It would be wonderful to update this video..Edmonton looks very different in 2019, even though it’s still the best city to live in,anywhere!!
I visited Edmonton a couple of times last summer; I live in Ontario. It's a really quiet city, its downtown is small and yet appeared to be empty all the time. It has some good areas to enjoy nice walks and appreciate nature, not much else to do there though.
It all depends where you live in USA and Canada. USA is a huge country, if you go to New York City or Chicago, you will not find any short of public transportation, there is people walking in the streets everywhere. But if you are somewhere in Orange Country, California, or any suburban places, you will find people have cars. Toronto, Vancouver and all the big cities are walk able. You live outside of a big city, you have to get to have car.

TakeThatRage119 I guess iv'e been lucky then ...
Edmonton is absolutely a very beautiful city. Even though I was born and raised in the area. Born in Tofield. 40 minutes east of the city. And raised in the city. I have family living in the city today too.
Imagine what people think while watching this video one hundred years later?
I spent two weeks in Edmonton late August 1973 and the people reminded me of Salt Lake City - very polite and helpful. I am from the US, but my best friend was from Alberta.
This video made me LOVE this city already! I want to live there. I hope my wish will come true. :)
Greetings from Serbia!!!
I also want to move there, from Portugal
@@jorgecapitao1435 You’re crazy
Thank you for showing the beauty of our river valley 😊
Actually Edmonton has changed a lot since 2011. The hockey arena is downtown now with awesome architecture.
We are moving back to Edmonton after the holidays, we lived there before.Nice city, lots of work and the people are most friendly than Calgary in General.
at 9:27 a little girl running falls on her face. best part of the video. It must have taken a lot of editing to only have one homeless guy in this video
LMAO so true, edmonton is bum city of Canada
Like alllllllot of editing
Not really, I've been to Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, and Montreal quite a bit. They were way worse.
Rkan Shamie its very true, this is a big problem in seattle, theres a very in depth documentary about how big of am issue it is, and as the documentary itself mentions; its not a homeless problem, its a drug problem.
Yeah...they looked for You,
the Reigning Champ of:
"Useless Fatass Lazy Bum, That Mooches for Wine Money", during that photo op.
Ya musta been somewhere, facedown, with your urine soaked trousers, half off, and soiled, throwin' up in some piss soaked street gutter that night...
Missed your chance of fame.

Sigh.... I miss summer.... Winters are way to freaking long here
you realise we have about 4-5 months of where there isnt any snow on the ground. the rest of the months we are drenched in it. by now you should be use to the cold and snow and it shouldn't stop you from going about your day. :p
Ya I know
You should spend part of your long winter learning the difference between to, too and two.
I hate summer

hello back (i live in Canada) PS aboUt coloUr neighboUrs
Great video, among the best city videos i've seen!
Incredible vegetation for being so north.
The river valley trails are like being in a jungle...no exaggeration...its so hot and humid its hard to breath down there on a hot day! but its super beautiful. Its because Edmonton is the edge of the northern boreal forest...which is a colder jungle! lol
I live in Edmonton so I know some places like the glass pyramids and the river and the city
Beautiful place, great shooting! Thanks so much! 🇨🇦🌟🌲🔹
I am Turkish. once had a Canadian girlfriend. And it was very nice days. He introduced me to Canada in Edmonton. I really come to see there one day.

GlobeTrotterAlpha Thanks Mr Globe.
Born and raised and never left. This is my home. I love this city. The parks here are amazing. City is not too big not too small. Just perfect size. Theres is only one thing i hate about our summers is those darn pesky mosquitoes they can get bad.

Thank you for this video! My husband is working in Edmonton right now, and I will be there in a few weeks! :) Im very happy for that, this city is beautyfull!
You didn't even cover the West Edmonton Mall? Really?
+sXeCanadianBoy The mall is private property. It's forbidden to film inside without a permit. It's just a mall anyway with more stores.
+GlobeTrotterAlpha my apologies! Edmonton is pretty, but does seem a bit dark since its so far north. I hope you can make it to Winnipeg ^_^
+GlobeTrotterAlpha Then why are there plenty of videos on UA-cam inside the mall?
+Joshua Anson exactly
Plenty of videos filmed on mobile phones. It's very hard to enforce a filming ban on that. I was filming using a rig, stabilizer and a large video camera, not something you can hide. Mind you that this was in 2011 where stabilizing equipment was bulkier. Actually one of the first places I've tried to film was inside the mall but was quickly stopped by mall security. Anyway, as I've mentioned, it's just a mall with more stores and an indoor amusement / water parks. Edmonton has more to offer than a mall you can find in almost any urban center.
! Estoy fascinada con ésta bella ciudad de Edmonton, ,!
Ya la conoces?
heyyy I live in Edmonton
When someone is depressed they don't think people will care. She was only 12 then... She dealt with abuse and bullying before she passed away... Not everyone thinks the same.
0_o
No idea why possible fake threats happened? I mean come on that's childish. Adults don't bully or troll. If you are one sad since my nieces know better. Also sorry if this was stupid. But yeah one crosses the line when they tell others to end their life...
Pink Sparkles me to

Surrounding cities are nice. Stony Plain for example.
Uncle Ruckus Go to New York City, now that’s a real dump.
This town looks perfect thank you for video
I can't Understand why I don't live There
I live in Edmonton, it's really nice, but the winters get extremely cold, -25 Celcius roughly, and we get a lot of snow, other than that it's amazing!
+Josh -25 is nothing. Lloyd on average has -30 sometimes dropping to -50 and below
I wouldn't mind the Cold , I live in a hot city ,always hot,I like cold
The price of items depends on the size of the city The bigger the city is, the more expensive items are.
Lovely city. Remote yet seems so close. The video is very professional, relaxing and marvelous.
Its freakin half way to the arctic! lol
I don't understand why some Canadians hate Alberta.
Because of weather
It's easy, they're a stupid province
@@AlexanderMoises why's that?
I'm from Winnipeg but Alberta is awesome
I enjoyed watching this. Thank you.
Edmonton has a high rate of homeless people in poverty in the city's downtown core.
Nice video about Edmonton. I'm from there and I really enjoyed watching all the different scenes. Thanks for making such a nice video about my city. How do you get such smooth walking shots? Looks almost like you're on a Segway sometimes...? I like your channel. I subscribed and look forward to checking out more of your videos. Would appreciate if you come and check mine out, about Local Businesses in Edmonton. Thanks!
Professional Local Businesses Could you please tell me more about Edmonton ? It seems like a beautiful city to live and I might be visiting there soon after I finish my 3rd year of Nursing school. :) Thanks !
You guys are blessed to be living in ssuch a beautiful town..😩how i wish i had a friend there.
*We can witness that Edmonton is an ECO-FRIENDLY City... which is really really wonderful*
Way better than Winnipeg
I'm from the area and I quite like it, that said, what's so wrong with Winnipeg?

Everything is better than Winnipeg
You do an awesome job on these..thanks so much :)
We need solar energy in Alberta.
Very good video, gives a feeling to be there!

I’m 59. From Birmingham UK. When I was 17 I met a girl on holiday over here. She came from Alberta. I fell in love with her and I still think of her. She asked me to go back to Alberta with her. She said her father had a car dealership and I’ve always wished I had. Her name was Claire Eddington. Canada looks a wonderful place and regrets run deep inside me.
cool story Larry! Its always the ones that we let go that can stay in our heads!

+Marbelis Rivero that was so unexpected!
I miss this city. Someday I'll be there again.

Fioaoiudou Too boring for you?
Bellísimo sueño con vivir en Canadá principalmente en Alberta y conocer las montañas.
How nice the city is!-the flowers very beautiful.

Excellent video. Edmonton doesn't look like a place I'd want to visit, but that's not any fault of your video.
Great video. Astounding work...
Thanks...
Powerful cinematography! I'm looking forward to moving there!
So close to America but yet so far ahead in beauty of the people, cities, towns everything GO SENS GO!!!
