3 things Lex learned here. 1) Superman can bend steel easily 2) He's faster than a bullet 3) He's not going to kill me. And Dan Shea perfectly performed. They worked long 18 hour days, 6 days a week, 9 months out of the year. So they both admit it was utterly exhausting for them. But neither of them have ever mentioned disliking each other or have even alluded to that. If anything, they bonded more over the fact that they were experiencing the same reality.
The best moment is the shot of Clark's intense expression as he aims the gun. He's not playing around.
"Superman,come in."
"And i took that personally!"
😂
I would watch this show every Sunday night on ABC. Fun show, great chemistry between Teri and Dean especially.
Incredible chemistry, they always put a smile on your face.
Superman bends an antique broadsword: 😐
Superman points a gun: 😳
More like a unusable two-hander. Like a toy sword. Also, real swords had/have some flex, but they would break if bend so far. This seemed like it was made from a soft metal like tin. Really bad cinematography.
Honestly the prop work was terrible 😂 I had better toy swords growing up
Then when he throws it on the floor it sounds like it was weightless lol

Have met John Shea when he was flying out of Stansted airport not long after the series finished in the UK. Top bloke, more than happy to talk about the series and his other projects. Total gent.
That's nice to hear. Glad he's still working too.
This was my childhood Superman of the 90s.

The George Reeves Superman we had as kids was a bit different. The comic books were awesome!
So criminally underrated, for both portrayals.

Best Clark Kent in my opinion. Despite the hair the best live action portrayal of Lex.
Wish I could remember the name of the guy who played Lex Luthor offhand because I was a P.A. on a low budget movie shot in Tucson in the late 90s and he was one of the stars. He was incredibly nice and down to earth. Ate lunch with the rest of us peons, was genuinely interested in everyone, engaged us all in personal conversation, was very relaxed and professional. That’s what comes (or SHOULD come) from being in complete command of your craft - a level of confidence and professionalism that allows you to remain human in stressful situations.

The feat of speed was definitely more impressive than the feat of strength.
I like to imagine there's no context or lead up to this scene. Clark just shows up in a random guy's living room and says "you wanna know how strong I am?"
Superman flies out the window, Luthor hears a muffled sound next door “You wanna know how strong I am Johnson?”
Supes did say Luthor, Implying not a random guy
I was disappointed they didn’t include this show in the flash multiverse scene. Loved it when I was younger and was robbed of the conclusion for the cliffhanger when they cancelled the final season.

My daughter and I are watching this series at the moment. I always loved this show.
Loved this show, back in the day. To this day, other than Christopher Reeve, I can't picture anyone else as Superman, Dean Cain was great casting and Terri Hatcher as Lois, perfect.
Henry Cavil all day every day.
Dean and Teri's chemistry is unmatched by any other lois/superman pair.
Mmm, Teri Hatcher 🤤🤤🤤
Dean is the worst one. Not terrible but he is at the bottom.
I like how Christopher Reeve and Margot kidder as well as having good on screen chemistry aren't too good looking. They're both picked for how they are in their roles rather than being perfect looking. They're both 8/10 good looking but not picked mainly for their looks. The later supermans and lois lanes are perfect looking and the screen chemistry isn't as good. It's almost like they've just been picked for being that good looking and having some resemblance to how they should look rather than the chemistry you get with Christopher and Margot is my point.
I remember this as a teenager and I loved it and the funny thing is that that still doesn't prove exactly how strong he actually is because he's strong enough to lift the planet

I just love the randomness of this.
That speed example was dope. Best example I've seen in any superman show
True without even showing (what could have been lame) CGI
That is smart way for the director to show Superman’s speed
This showed superman's human side. He seemed angry here, like he was beginning to lose his patience. Yes, he was willing to shoot Lex, but only to prove a point. The fact that he instantly caught the bullet reminds us all that he's still Superman, and his morals will always supercede his abilities.
Writers for Superman never forget to depict how people constantly try to take advantage of and bully good men like him. It doesn't even matter that he's literally fucking Superman, some people will STILL mistake his kindness for weakness.
Bro had the TRUE look of fright on his face when Clark brought out the gun &aimed it. I didn't hear any Smart-aleky comments coming outta his mouth at THAT point. Only when he realized SM wasn't there to hurt him.😅
Still the best TV show version of Superman to date.
dean cain's superman feels like it could evolve into multiple of the other supermen with time.
physique-wise, he hasthe hair and the barrel chest that George Reeves' superman had. mannerism-wise i could buy this being a young Chris Reeve's superman. the dialogue and delivery in this scene is very reminiscent of the DCAU Superman, specifically the monologue against darkseid("I feel like i live in a world made of cardboard..."). the only superman i don't see in cain's version is the old animated Fleischer studios superman.
overall this was the perfect tv superman for the time, he was his own iteration, but didn't deviate too drastically from the film versions of the time and held onto the contributions of the previous iterations that made them iconic.

My favorite live action super hero show I watched on the American airwaves. Dean did an amazing job but as a whole, the entire recurring cast was simply excellent and most importantly, they understood the necessity of tone. Never took itself too seriously nor did it turn itself into a joke. I see these clips these days and keep thinking better days. So many parts of the 90s me waxing nostalgic these days.

That might be the most badass show of speed I've seen from Superman. Not the most impressive feat in his lineup but just the casualness with shooting someone using their own gun, then catching the bullet at the last moment simply to prove a point.

Lois and Clark. LOVED this iteration of Superman
Could've summarise that with the gun shot. He just wanted to break Luthor's stuff
He just wanted to bend Luthor's sword?
3 things Lex learned here.
1) Superman can bend steel easily
2) He's faster than a bullet
3) He's not going to kill me.
And Dan Shea perfectly performed. The fear in his eyes, followed by the composure and cockiness. Knowing that it would take something way more horrendous to get Superman to kill him.
Watch. After he drops the bullet, it really is like a light bulb moment where the actor IS the character and makes the realization.
