A British actor walked off the set because his opposite number in the film couldn't act and had an acting coach interrupting constantly. the Black actor had no training and only had the part because of his skin colour .

I'm all for actors being chosen to play a role based on the original race of the character, fictional or not.
Getting beyond ridiculous when we have black, Hispanic, Asian Vikings, Black Queen of England, white Aladdin, etc...
But that's not good enough for the diversity movement.. They just go into the back room and rewrite the original stories and rewrite history.

What Kat was saying about job interviews makes a lot of sense. The thing is, HR doesn't have to ask people about their sexual preference or gender identification. Job applicants are voluntarily putting that information on their resume's. They now know they're far more likely to get hired for their diversity appeal than their actual talents, skills and experience. The sick thing is HR actively looks past talents, skills, and experience to see if the applicant meets a "marginalized minority" quota.
It’s been that way for quite a while. When I was a hiring manager, I tried to bypass HR as much as possible. They never produced candidates that I would want. I’m sure it’s a lot more controlled today than it was 15 or 20 years ago.
They complain about being oppressed but do everything they can to tell everyone about it...

I think the actual point to let Richard Dreyfuss and was trying to say was that he doesn’t necessarily want to play a black man but he wants everyone to be able to play any role they want. He wants them to get that role based on their skill. Don’t get a roll just because you’re black and check off a checkbox. Get a roll because you’re a great performer. Don’t get a roll because you’re a white actor. Get the role because you are a great performer. That’s what I took away from what he was saying. He was kind of crazy in the way, you said it. But I believe that was the gist of it.
My thoughts exactly. Even more disappointing is that this panel labeled him a racist for an awkwardly worded statement that was obviously not made with malice.

How is this even legal? Laws make it illegal to not hire someone based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc so when you say so a role must be filled by one of those characteristics you are discriminating against everyone who doesn't have those characteristics.

It's interesting...........movie candidates meeting these standards for any Academy award will have such low viewership that they will end up losing money while movies that are actually entertaining will never get nominated and crush the competition at the box office.
