I painted this some years ago. I was shocked at how amazing it looked after finishing. Bill had a great way of taking someone who couldn’t really paint, and turning them into an artist. A wonderful man, and it is good to see you are keeping his legacy alive.
Nice! I've seen all the Bob Ross shows and learned to paint so I'm looking forward to seeing these ones and learning even more! I already sold two paintings back when I was just painting on art paper. Anyone who hasn't tried painting should try it with this method. Why not? You don't have to tell anyone that you painted or show them your painting. and it's fun!
I have always loved to watch Bill paint on PBS. He really was inspiring with his exciting way of speaking and painting, it motivated me to no end. I stopped watching to show when Ross took over because his method of speaking felt like a doctor talking to mental patient or made me feel like falling asleep as opposed to really getting excited and living listening to Bill. Thank you for keeping these videos alive.
All Mighty Mountain! Fire It In! :) Miss Bill Used to love how he would say that when he was painting mountains. Loved how excited he got! From Bill Alexander, to Bill Ross. :) Amazing artists! :) Thnx for the memories! Love, & Blessings, in Jesus mighty Name! :)
We filmed on different locations in 1986-1988 then returned to the studio where we could control the elements. Never went back outside after that. Last filming for these shows was 1994. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching our videos.
Funny enough I just saw the other red candle video on this channel and he mentions that maybe he will show how to paint a book, over a year later and you post that episode, lol
There is a funny story about the book and glasses painting you mentioned. That one painting changed an important step that we took when we filmed Bill. I will tell the story sometime.
Bob made some decent paintings but none of them actually approached the beauty of Bill's work. Bill was the originator of the show and he actually handed the pallet knife off to Bob when he retired! Bill was a much better artist and you could see it in every painting he made! The only reason Bob actually expanded the audience was that Bill had a very heavy Austrian accent.
Bill didn’t really hand his palette knife off to Bob. Yes he did on a show to provide credibility to Bob as Bob was unknown. He wanted to retire but he didn’t. All of these shows on our channel, nearly 200 episodes were all filmed after the episode showing him handing his knife off to Bob. Bill went off the air for awhile in 1994-1995.
@@AAlexanderArt Bill is the one who inspired me to be a painter. I would sit and watch with my mom we both loved it! to be honest I lost interest in Bob because he just wasn't as good ! I still have my old pallet knife and I later applied the techniques I lerned to acrylic paintings. Part of the fun of watching bill was trying to figure out what he was saying! LOL!
@@robertdevino4109 when I first started working with Bill I had to learn what he was saying too. I was hired to write his instructional Books and to manage his art club. I had to watch the VHS tapes over and over to understand what he was saying.
Beautiful and inspiring painting! And while Mr. Alexander makes it look so easy, I know I’ll need to practice these techniques a million times over before I could ever dream of approaching the sheer beauty of his work. And I likely won’t get there. But I’m learning that half the fun is in the trying! And just to chime in on the previous comments, I really have to pay close attention to what he’s saying. But that only serves to make the lesson even more valuable and intense.
This man painted a masterpiece with just a palette knife, i wish i had even just a tiny bit of Bills talent.
Beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!

Absolutely agree! There are so many great benefits to painting.

LOL! Yes, their personalities were like night, & day to each other for sure! But I still liked Bob also. :)

So sorry, I typed Bill Ross, his name is Bob Ross, not Bill, my apologies.
I was watching a lot of Bill videos since the book one went up, and woke up to another new one this morning, made my day!
Thank you for your comment. I am happy to bring these videos to you and glad you are watching and enjoying more of them.
Wow, Bill looks almost like he's been sped up in the video, so fast brushstrokes! :O
Black canvas paintings are my favorite.
I love them too. They are magical and dramatic. Thank you for your support of our channel.
Bill you are the best
I love you too, Bill!
This makes me smile
Rest in peace, "MASTER"🙏
I remember watching this on “The Art of William Alexander &
Lowell Speers”
circa 1988 [the one where they return to the studio]

Great art
Thank you for your comment. And thanks for watching our videos.
I remember this one from the magic of oil painting and it was my first successful painting!
I would love to see it! If you don’t mind please email it to me at photos@alexanderart.com. We love to see paintings inspired by Bill.
I sold it in 1982. It was my first painting I ever sold and I got a happy buck!
Funny enough I just saw the other red candle video on this channel and he mentions that maybe he will show how to paint a book, over a year later and you post that episode, lol

I´m looking forward to it! :)
Very nice.
Thank you! And thank you for watching and commenting!
I miss him so much...😪😪😪
Très très beau tableau pour moi j ai jamais un peintre aussi talentueux dommage que c est très mal filmé
Give it up for the almighty burnt umber.
Are you still alive? (Genuine question?)
Thank you for asking. Bill passed away Jan 24, 1997. He lives on through his timeless videos.
@@AAlexanderArt thanks!
I think Bob Ross got his technique from Bill...
