"A shockingly huge game for a decent price point. Impressive." A 10-hour campaign for 59.99$ base game or 99.99$ for a complete package. I suppose it is indeed "shockingly good" if you compare it to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2023). I mean, spelling out loud that the game has borderline zero depth and copy-pasted encounters in a different coat of paint is quite commendable, however, the statement about the price is so ridiculous I decided to comment for the first time in the last 3 years on YT.
@@moniumus6303 I am one of those "a 59.99$ game should be great gameplay-wise and it should provide good replay value" idiots. And while the game has PVE and PVP modes on paper, I am yet too see any information on them that would convince me I (or a huge chunk of the playerbase) could spend hundreds of hours slaying things beyond the main campaign. Furthermore, in a world where Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 exist for 59.99$ one does not simply call a 99.99$ "complete" package a "shockingly good price point". The statement was obviously disingenuous. And while it is not hard to see why Mr. Luke said that, I simply could not resist myself from pointing it out. If anyone disagrees with that and it is fine for people to pay 59.99$, play for two hours, get the value out of the purchase and then drop the game forever - all the power to you.
@EugeneCutting The PVP and PVE are what adds replay value. Nobody is going to "drop it forever" after finishing the campaign because that isn't the point. The ability to play through the campaign with friends and the higher difficulties also add more variety. You've clearly never played the studio's other games like World War Z if you think the game is copy-paste or lacks depth.
I mean those Tyranid swarms do look like fighting a genuine hive mind, which most games fail to do very well. I hope there's an option to allow them to all attack together to make it feel more authentic
Been waiting for this sequel since the first space marine came out forever ago! Lets go! Looking forward to seeing what happens with Lt Titus this time around
Im blown away by the accessibility of this game, a $60 game with a robust multiplayer, short but dense campaign, & the required specs on PC speaks to the games optimization.
Not egregiously monetized Not written 'for a modern audience' No game breaking or incessant technical issues. Makes it into the top 5 mainstream releases of the past 5 years just on those qualifications alone.
@@lastdefenderofxhotl I guess he means stupid things like suddenly changing the lore of the Space Marines for no reason when they could've focused on the female groups that they never bother to focus on.
Gives me Gears of War vibes, my buddy and I have been playing through the Gears campaigns lately. Set to finish Gears 5 this week, so perfect timing to jump onto this game. I will say, the cut scene quality caught me off guard. Being a Halo fan, and hearing that Saber worked on this I had admittedly crazy high expectations.
If you want enemy variety, play black myth wukong.(Also a phenomenal game) If you want to crush heretics and abominations with your brothers in the imperium, then BUY THIS GAME!
I don’t care for the pvp and hearing the campaign is only 10 hours. I’m going wait for it on sale. Also I think that pve mode will get stale pretty fast.
I agree. I don't buy games for multiplayer I like the campaigns. Multiplayer used to be the bonus, now a bunch of perpetually online gamers only want PVP and will play a PVP game for 2 weeks and move on to the next game leaving the game dead anyway
Yeah same here. I'll wait until it releases and until ppls opinions settle. I have too many good games I'm playing already so I don't really feel the need to spend 90 euros on a 10 hour single player game that may or may not have good multiplayer. Lately I've been playing DRG (10 bucks on sale, hundreds of hours of enjoyment) and kingdom come deliverance) (4 euros for game with all DLC, also possibly hundreds of hours of enjoyment) so in comparison it just doesn't seem worth the money
Ill be waiting on a sale to pick this one up. I dont care about pvp or multi-player so im not paying $70 for a 6-8 campaign but once it goes on sale for $30 im in.
Yeah, I agree. I used to be into Warhammer 40K tabletop when I was younger and really dig the way it’s been brought to live by this developer. However If I finish the campaign in 2 weeks max and then need to play multiplayer (which tbh I’m more of a single player gamer these days) 60 euros is a bit steep. I would rather wait and see what the dlc adds and otherwise get it discounted.
10 hour is perfect times for a campaign. I hate these new trend of grindy 20+ hour campaigns. It’s so useless and stretched for no reason. Mafia is also another campaign on the shorter side but amazing

Just a heads up, the helmet toggle isn't bugged. It just only applies to Titus and the campaign. In order to change the multi-player character's helmets, you have to do it through the armory customization menu! Great video otherwise.

Not a fan of the franchise of genre but I hope this game goes on to do big things. The devs obviously poured love and soul into their creation and is obviously a treat for anyone interested.
After getting 3 classes to at least level 20, I can safely say that sniper scales very hard. Low level sniper doesn't have enough ammo to move between engagements, doesn't have enough utility in the cloak for it to be worthwhile, doesn't have enough damage to take out the elites in a timely manner. Just overall bad. High level sniper gets cloak so consistently, makes it easy to force threats away from you to line up the elites, has enough ammo and damage to be dropping elites almost as soon as they spawn. Definitely the hardest power scale of the three that I've really played (heavy, sniper, bulwark). Overall, great game. Can't wait for some more missions to be added to the Co-op mode, as that's about the only issue I have with the game. 6 missions is just not enough, especially considering the randomness in missions is essentially opening door A rather than door B, groups of enemies being different, or planting on column 1 vs column 2. All things Darktide did much better with.
The first game is on sale on Steam. I would strongly recommend anyone wanting to jump into Space Marine 2 to give it a try. Not for lore or story purposes, but just because it's still a damn good game.
@@1_underthesun no it doesn't. Pre-orders have been a thing forever and they'll never go away. If you pre-order a game that turns out good than nothing bad happens. It's all about how the game presents itself and SM2 presents itself like a game worthy of a pre-order
@@azzy9293 Even if a game is good, you're still telling other developers (like EA) that you're willing to pre-order. THAT'S the problem. It's the message you send to the industry.

the las fusil one-shots warriors/rubrics. idk what these fools are talking about 😅 the sniper is valuable for taking out the heavier enemies before they get too close
You pretty much sum up what i expected as soon as i heard by whom this Game is made as well the Gameplay-Footage. Saber Interactive playing their strength for horde-shooters (like their previous Game World War Z, or other titles like Left 4 Dead, Alien Fireteam Elite, Back 4 Blood, Vermintide or as you pointed out Darktide) but mixing it with some aspects of the first Space Marine Game. Which means it's not a surprise to me that it might become very repetitive esp. with the Co-op / Missions Mode which you'll play over and over again. But as you pointed out that's also part of the appeal due various reason, like tinkering around with gear and builds, often these games despite having some premade chokepoints still have some variation in enemy placement (not sure how that's the case for SM2), and in case of Left 4 Dead 2 the PvPvE aspect where people can play on the monster-side also keeps the game fresh. So i also fear that a potential issue can be people expecting too much / a different type of game and might dissapointed because of that (because i've seen some people even compare it to Remnant 2). About the Enemy-variety, also not a surprise either. I don't know what it is exactly with this genre, but it's quite common that they lack in terms of variety. Even Left 4 Dead 2 - which might be considered one of the best cult-classic does lack variety in the long run. So that's like - you could say, a staple flaw which hardly gets adressed (and one reason why in Vermintide 2 - which is my favorite game in this genre by the way, i never could get the b'tching about the winds of magic dlc, because they brought a new enemy type faction with it which added so much more variety to it, ... aehm sorry i sidetracked a bit). Good Video and Review, i'm super excited for Monday now.

Bummer.
The operations can be played with bots and are apparently basically more structured missions. Developers also plan to add more missions so may still be worth a look

As just a person that only play offline single type of games, if I just want to play the campaign and do noting with the multiplayer, it’s worth to buy as full price? Wait a sale? Or just don’t buy it? (I don’t know nothing about the Warhammer lore)
Well you don't need to now anything about 40k lore but I would watch a recap of the first game and I would say yes but that comes down to you it is only 10 hours and most of the replay value is in the multi-player that being said I would give the multi-player a try you might like it
if it's anything like the first one, probably wait for a sale (unless you're in a country that gets it cheaper probably worth 40 bucks for an 8 hr campaign). Coop and pvp are significant part of the value prop.
As long as it runs smooth on consoles I'll be buying day one and it will also be my first game in the Warhammer universe so I'm super excited cuz it seems right up my alley!!!!👍💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Luke, I just want to point out, the helmet bug you are talking about that is only present in the multiplayer pve mode, is NOT a bug. You're having the helmet off because its an appearance. To have the helmet on you have to change your appearance. Helmet on/off is ONLY for the campaign PVE mission.
No microtransactions, but the "early access" is definitely anti-consumer. It's FOMO manipulation. Also no ultrawide support and no horde mode at launch. Meh.
2 things you can wear a helmet its not broken that option is only for storyyou have to equip it in the customization duh and 2nd operations is like that cause it a small side stories of a team that helps titus on his main missions its the missons that happen in between and there will be more for free you would know this if you payed attention to the tutorial when meeting the squad
@1:40 be careful with that statement. It is quite common for companies to add cash shop and other monetisation shit shortly after release of the game - so it would not affect their reviews.
I dnt know what to believe. Force Gaming said the campaign is about 5 hours long and Luke saying it's about 10 hours long. Campaign length matters a lot to me. If campaign length is really that short then I will sadly have to refund my pre-order :(
My dumbass. Genuinely, last week me and my roomate were talking about getting the game, he’s gotten into the tabletop recently so this game has been on his radar far longer than mine. He came to me and asked if I was gonna buy the deluxe version to get the skin and play early and I told him “no, I’m gonna save the extra I would spend on the deluxe version and use it on whatever micro transactions they add becuase this is a game I’m willing to spend extra money on.” Now I feel like an idiot haha and I feel bad because he did the same thing…
The coop campaign is a huge sell for me. Gears and halo made me fall in love with this feature, as it made replaying the story and enjoying the spectacle that much more fun as i get to watch my friends reaction. Also, the goofing off and shenanigans you'd attempt to pull in the slow moments. I'm beyond hyped
The single player campaign is only 6 hours long, don't get your hopes up, this game is mainly an mmo-lite. Most of the content will come from seasons and battle passes.
This will be the first videogame I buy since Spider-man PS4. I have been disillusioned with the gaming industry for years but this game and more like this bring me hope
Space marine 2 was meant to be a live service game. You can tell once your in the game, a very short campaign and about 3 modes of multiplayer. It is similar to suicide squad they did the same offered a very generic short campaign and lots of on line stuff. The difference is the devs of that game said it was a live service game, the makers of space marine says it is not when in reality it is. I wish i could refund the game, it is that bad. Sure the game looks great but its generic, repetitive, and the online stuff is awful.
Sounds like a buy for me after a dip in price. So happy it turned out well but for what it seems to be offering, a fun brutal combat loop that leans toward repetitive with not too much content yet waiting makes sense. Road map looks good too, it's the type of game if you pick up for 30-40 bucks in a year you're so hype at the deal and content you find after updates!
I was honestly dunking in a mutual friend (who’s a Warhammer fan) for preordering this game. Preordering is just a bad practice in my opinion. Even despite me having faith in this game. He even used the same usually counter arguments like “preorder bonuses” and “I already know it’s gonna be good”. The tribute to Totalbiscuit in the credits teared me up a bit
"A shockingly huge game for a decent price point. Impressive."
A 10-hour campaign for 59.99$ base game or 99.99$ for a complete package.
But you also have operations, co-op mode, and PvP, and they’re adding more content for free over the coming months
It’s the okay Eugene you can sit this one out (calls the local arbites)
Are you one of those „if it’s 60$ I want it to be 60h“ idiots?

Or buy both
I don’t care for the pvp and hearing the campaign is only 10 hours. I’m going wait for it on sale. Also I think that pve mode will get stale pretty fast.
Same
Thats fair. Once they add horde mode and more missions, it may be cheaper and worth the buy. It looks funnnnn
I personally am gonna buy it day one, but im a warhammer nerd. I can't be saved lol
@tonyhacker5980 same, I don't really care about the pvp, but my warhammer fomo is too strong to not get this on launch
Game looks good but think I’ll wait a sale for a 10 hour game.
PvP bro
the coop missions give you more hours to put in to lvl up your character
@@maurice5402 sounds like my typa guy😂, i usually wait till the game goes on sale in like a year.
Ill be waiting on a sale to pick this one up. I dont care about pvp or multi-player so im not paying $70 for a 6-8 campaign but once it goes on sale for $30 im in.
The game looks awesome. I just can't justify paying full price for a 10-hour campaign & half-baked multi-player.
How much would you end up paying to go watch 5 movies? Don’t forget the co-op missions as well, you can play them with bots as companions
10 hour is perfect times for a campaign. I hate these new trend of grindy 20+ hour campaigns. It’s so useless and stretched for no reason. Mafia is also another campaign on the shorter side but amazing
@@juicy3193 exactly, just finished this and i think it even took me 14 hours (played on Veteran - which is hard difficulty, died a couple of times lol) but i enjoyed the hell out of it.

From what I havep layed, yeah, this game is great. No denying. As a long term Warhammer fan and big fan of the first game, I am glad not to be disappointed.
However, I remain skeptical of the monetisation and support going foward. We will see.

You don't think the game is lacking content? A live service with just 6 pve missions. Feels like having both pvp/pve means split dev resources.
i never pre-order but this was my first pre-order in many years.
Even if you're 100% sure you'll love a game, pre-ordering still hurts the industry (from a gamers perspective).
@@1_underthesun ok
@@1_underthesun no it doesn't. Pre-orders have been a thing forever and they'll never go away. If you pre-order a game that turns out good than nothing bad happens. It's all about how the game presents itself and SM2 presents itself like a game worthy of a pre-order
@@azzy9293 Even if a game is good, you're still telling other developers (like EA) that you're willing to pre-order. THAT'S the problem. It's the message you send to the industry.

Doubling down on sniper being weak is wild.
Dude having long range options in a game where most options are exclusively close range is incredibly powerful. Look at the sniper from tf2 as a example
the las fusil one-shots warriors/rubrics. idk what these fools are talking about 😅 the sniper is valuable for taking out the heavier enemies before they get too close

Man, I was considering getting into this but having zero interest in PVP, or replayable multiplayer/co-op content, and only was looking for a huge, long awesome, challenging campaign, but it sounds like this thing is pretty short, and taking away the multiplayer experiences, sounds like there's not a whole lot there. It was never going to be a huge campaign my guy. If it is anything like the first one 10 hours is very reasonable. The whole selling point was the repeatable multiplayer offerings + a campaign. If you have no interest to the multiplayer parts then the game isn't for you champ

20:01 the helmet for multiplayer is a cosmetic, so you need to equip it in the armour customisation.
Looks so good but also quite repetitive, for a supposed "hack and slash" the variety is just not there.
I hope that you have to grind for certain awesome armor In the PvP. I miss the days of old school halo where wearing a certain armor piece showed your skill at the game rather than showing you forked out extra cash

60 bucks for a 10 hour campaign is not cheap, it's not a bargain or a value.
It reminded me of the way halo 3 campaign was back in 2007. Like with the massive battles in the background, and having squads fighting with you.
Praising a game for a single player and multiplayer mode is nuts, its crazy we get to this point
6 well crafted missions vs helldivers with mostly empty biomes snd the same mission objectives..
game doesnt have to be story based for lip sync to matter. its called polish and making a finished product
Sure, but still, the season pass/premium pass is a welcome return. Battlefield did it great back in the day and pushing for this is the way to go.
This is my first warhammer game and honestly I had fun.
I dnt know what to believe. Force Gaming said the campaign is about 5 hours long and Luke saying it's about 10 hours long. Campaign length matters a lot to me. If campaign length is really that short then I will sadly have to refund my pre-order :(
Length depends on if playing w friends or not & difficulty, which vastly change playtime.
It prolly has to do with there being over 3 hrs of cutscenes in the game.

This feels like it's Doom meets Gears of War.
But I guess after watching this video, and from the ones I watched in the past, this game looks like a safe purchase if it’s your cup of tea. And it’s definitely mine!
if this game isnt made for the modern audience then i want it.
