I love how you have the courage to quilt without measuring. It seems so freeing! I am new to sewing and watching your carefree FUN approach is encouraging to me, a self diagnosed OCD nut! laughing out loud…thank you!
As someone who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31, all I can say is, if you have concerns talk to your gp and find one that will support you. I was told I was too young for a mammogram but when I told my doctor I think it’s time for a scan, she was happy enough to pretend we found a lump in order to have a scan…both of us were shocked when it came back positive for breast cancer. Thank you Jess and ByAnnie, your support and awareness will go a long way x
You know your body. It’s great you had a doctor who listened to you. I had a member of my family who was diagnosed with breast cancer before she was 30. She was in college at the time. She was studying for her PHD in pharmaceutical medicine. She had a year long treatment. When I was diagnosed I turned to her to answer some questions. She was amazing.
My sister is battling breast cancer right now! She’s doing awesome! Want to make this bag for her and her daughter’s. Thank you so much for all you do!! 💝
I work for a cancer center in north carolina. I lost my sister to melanoma cancer 23 years ago and my mother gets treatment as well. I will be purchasing this pattern to help out with the research.
Was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer 6 years ago - stage 2.5. I had annual exams so it grew fast. Lymph node was clear but still had 6 months of chemo. I had a post op infection from plastic surgery expanders and it has taken me 6 years to get to the point that I’m willing to try again. Also I wanted to wait until I was closer to the end of the danger period. Cross my fingers every year.
My mom died of breast cancer in 1988. I was 4 years old. She had the most rare and aggressive, inflammatory. So yes, I am passionate about breast cancer research and mammograms. Anyway, thank you for another fantastic tutorial. 🥰
I’m a breast cancer survivor for 4 years now. I’m the first in my family with breast cancer. Please don’t think that you are immune to getting breast cancer because you have no family history, and go get your mammogram! My BC was found on my yearly mammo. Because I have my mammograms routinely Every year, my tumor was so small it could not be felt. I was stage 1, so I had a lumpectomy and radiation. Please, ladies, get your mammogram!!! It’s not that bad!!😍
I was sent because of an inflammation in my right breast but the tumor was found in my left. My oncologist order a Geno test and it was negative. I do not have the gene for breast cancer. I’m the youngest female and pre-menopause. My oldest sister is post menopause. She had the Geno test as well and it was negative. This is good news for our children, nieces and nephews.
Breast cancer survivor here. My mammogram missed my tumor, a month later my gyne didn’t feel it, but I found it a couple of months later. Do check yourself regularly. I no longer have breasts after my treatment but I still check the area as does my oncologist. I am BRCA1 positive, triple negative, stage 2b IDC, 3/13 positive lymph nodes removed and a bi-lateral dbl mastectomy, flat and proud. First in my family to find cancer is hereditary and not a family curse.
There are soooo many By Annie bags I’d love to see you do. THE ULTIMATE TRAVELER’S BAG 2.0 is my favorite. You are definitely the perfect person to do her bag tutorials. 💕
@@jenniferdevore1869 You can absolutely do it!! We always suggest starting with the free ByAnnie Basics patterns, but there are hundreds of makers who started with the Ultimate Travel Bag as their first pattern :)
Had mammogram & radiologist said it was just a small cyst, not to worry. 18 months later, doing self exam, found pebble like small "cyst". My new Dr immediately sent me for a biopsy done 5pm on Labor Day. Tuesday got positive results. Post surgery & radiation, I am celebrating this month 11 years cancer free. PLEASE no matter your age, do self exams in shower. It can save your life. Thanks Jesse for your dedication.
I’m so happy that you are doing this. I am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in 2019 with Stage 2 Lobular Hers2 breast cancer. The tumor was too small to detect by self check. I was really fortunate in my treatments and I had wonderful doctors and nurses.
What a fabulous video and pattern. Big shout out to By Annie for this #sewpink initiative. Breast Cancer is scary and can sneak up on you when you least expect it. I went in to see my OBGYN when I thought I had mastitis during a time when I was trying to wean my two year old. My breast was sore and there was a lump but I really thought the Dr would just hand me a prescription for an antibiotic and the most I would have to worry about would be soreness and a possible yeast infection. Not so much!!!! I was sent to an oncologist the following week and ten months later I had both breasts removed following multiple tests, ultrasounds and surgeries. That was over six years ago and I don't miss my breasts at all and I'm living life to the fullest each and every day. Check your girls. Go ahead and touch yourself. You'll be grateful you did. ;) PS: Thank you for you!!!
I just came across this and it's the best bag tutorial I've ever seen -- and I've watched a LOT! Most skim over the "tricky" parts and you do a great job of providing the detail necessary for a successful project. Thank you and great job!😄
Love your video tutorials! You always describe the step in an easy manner that makes it so easy to follow along. I always struggle with the joining the binding together after sewing it around my quilts, the way you explained how you do it made it seem less scary. Thank you!
Two year survivor, have to admit it is a little scary to get that mammogram every year, but I do it anyway, thanks for this tutorial and to Annie for their support.
Yesterday I had a mammogram and an MRI of my breasts. I had 2 older sisters with breast cancer and a sister with ovarian cancer. I faithfully go yearly for my exams. I have never did the Braca test yet but will talk to my doctor about getting it done. Love the project bags you did an awesome job with the directions. Thanks you.
Jess - just found this and Can I just say - you are the best teacher ever. I have this pattern sitting on my cutting table and watched Annies video, but have been afraid to attempt it. You have simplified it to perfection!!!!!! THANK you so much for doing this amazing video!
You are the Perfect By Annie Ambassador! You are a Quilter and a Bag Maker... The Perfect Combination of Utilizing By Annie Products!! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! 💙🤗 I got to watch this video while visiting my child you sent a bday gift to for me. I gave her a big hug from you! 🤗 Thanks for being such an Amazing YOU ❣️
Congrats on collaborating with By Annie and you are so amazing!! You are the perfect choice for her tutorial! I cannot tell you how much I have learned from you!!💕
I found a lump in 2015, ran to get a mammogram and it was a tiny cancer. Had the breast removed, lymph node biopsy, all of that with no pain whatsoever. But the scar turned ugly and I couldn’t clean it so I had a tram flap breast reconstruction. I do not recommend this surgery. I got four infections and almost died. My surgeon was a jerk who would never tell me anything nor visited me in the hospital either time. I had to go back for revision as my lower incision was opening and part of the new breast died. They also caused a partial lung collapse and did something to my nose so I couldn’t eat for three months, smell intolerance. If the scar hadn’t messed up I’d have been perfectly fine with my prosthesis. Luckily for me, I never once had any pain. I also was poisoned by the two antibiotics I was using at home and the infection was already gone. Not a great experience but I’m sure it’s not like that for everyone.
Hi Jess. I have really become a huge fan of your channel. You are so clear, enthusiastic and FUN. I came to sewing because of breast cancer. It changed the course of my life. Treatment has resulted in permanent cognitive injury and debilitating fatigue. And I am alive. Living for now. Learning to do the things I am passionate about (like making bags!) I was diagnosed with stage 4 (incurable) breast cancer at 37. I was still nursing my youngest, who was 18 months. When I learned that I, a young, fit, health conscious mom had breast cancer I was shocked. But I rationalized, "at least it is a good cancer." Meaning I thought most people are cured. That it would be not so bad. It is the fun pink cancer, right? Boy, was I wrong. First of all, for those who do get stage 1-3 breast cancer, they have to endure treatment. And then, for 30% of them, it is going to come back and be terminal. And for people like me, diagnosed straight off the bat with stage four cancer...it means that the cancer will be there forever. It means that the future is now, not some far away time. Because of research, I am still alive 10 years later. I received a new drug called Herceptin that changed my prognosis from 3 years to 15. I am hopeful I have more and I can watch my kids grow up and leave home. Research means new lines of treatment that can greatly extend and hopefully save lives. But I have lost countless friends in the breast cancer community. Friends who died young and left behind little ones. Friends who were unable to have kids because of treatment. Thank you and By Annie for raising awareness. Scans are important, but ongoing research is key to extend and save lives.
This is just the By Annie Project bag tutorial that I have been looking for! I already have all the "ingredients" can't wait to start sewing my project bags! Thank you so much!
Great tutorial as usual. Just made my donation in honor of my daughter-in-law who had breast cancer (and successful surgery) six years ago. I have made a ton of project bag using By Annie’s original pattern and using both clear vinyl or By Annie’s mesh in them. Fun to make either. Keep up the great job you do in helping others to learn a wonderful craft.
I finally got around to doing this project bag and it came out really nice thanks to your tutorial. The step by step was spot on and I never had a problem putting it together. Thank you so very much!!
Thank you for the ByAnnietutorial . My mum died of breast cancer when I was 16 really tough . I am in UK make sure you prefer for all check ups on the NHS . LOVE LOVE LOVE your excellent details to close the binding!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Enjoyed this video. I have ordered the pattern for my shop. I also sew on a Bernina and was wondering what number of foot you used for the zipper.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I would love to see other byannie pattern tutorials. I am particularly interested in the Travel Essentials bag and the Laptop II bag. Thanks again.
I am wanting to use cork fabric for the bag,,,,do I need to line the bag at all?
Excited to make one of these!
Did you know the HM print on the back of the small bag is glow in the dark? It’s so awesome!
Your such an inspiration 💕
I am new to your UA-cam channel. I love that on some of the patterns you used the cutting labels. Makes it so easy
I can’t figure out how to get the downloaded version of these vinyl zipper bag patterns.
Great tutorial! Love this bag!
I would like to see a “room with a view” from by Annie tutorial. I always think of you when I see that pattern. I know you would find a million ways to store stuff with them. I’m excited to do the pattern to organize my sons blocks and toys and he will be able to see what’s inside. They also don’t have a video tutorial for. “The backseat babysitter” from by Annie and I have the pattern just sitting on a shelf and I’m intimidated bc there is no video for it. :(
its not only women that get breast cancer, although it is always aimed towards women, my brother had breat cancer and had a lump removed, so please, ladies, make sure the men in your life also check for breast cancer !
I would love to see another Clam shell or clam up bag (annie or otherwise) that uses Renaissance Ribbons. I love the ribbons but was challenged where to use it on a clam shell bag.
The best friends that you showed towards the end what would that look like with the gold soft vinyl? Just wondering
I bought that exact stilletto! Love 💗 it!
Love you both!!!
What size gauge of vinyl did you use? I have different gauges.
Does anyone know if you can get hold
Of a digital version of this pattern? I can only find the physical Version which is rather a lot to post to the UK.
Would LOVE a video on the By Annie A Place for Everything 2.0. Please?!!
Can’t wait to make one of these!
This was soooo helpful. Thank you.
I hope you do a PFEB. The pockets are driving me nuts.
That jumbo bag is exactly what cross stitchers are using and buying from bag makers...
Went right over to site. So happy to donate!
I was in my mid 40’s when I was diagnosed, but I had a very attentive doctor and she was concerned with high hormone level
and decided that I should have a mammogram I didn’t see the connection but said ok , luckily I did go ahead as I did have BC
that was in late 1998. I had a hard time with insurance getting it authorised. Fact low Vitamin D correlation, high hormone level I was on a high dose of birth control ( to decrease reoccurring ovarian cysts ) Fact not necessarily a family history.
Great advice! Thank you so much for sharing
Could you use SF101 on the lining too?
I use a bias tape tool!
I would love to see the pattern holder or the ruler holder
The best video thank you!
Pleaseeee do the ultimate traveler! It’s been on my list for a year and I’m so afraid to do it! Lol
Love these bags!
That is so adorable! I love your tutorials
Beautiful bag!
I'd love to see the sewing machine cover
What is the background music? Love this tutorial!
Thanks!
