This is a demonstration of an ABB IRB120 robot playing snooker. This demo was created by Geku Automation. Please visit www.geku.co.uk for more information.
@ 0:35 You should've added speech syntensator voice of: "Oh yeah, totally scored it. Who the man. Who the man. Who the man. Oh yeah, what a shot, who the man."
The point of robot manufacture is to create machines with high precision, speed, and as many degrees of freedom as possible, while making it as cost-effective as possible. What people program it to do is up to them. Most industrial robots can be coupled to a camera / image recognition systems, and their movement can be adjusted in real time by software that analyses those images. But that's a software issue. This is a demonstration made by a robot manufacturer, not by a company making "automated snooker" software. I suspect very few people would be interested in buying a robot specifically designed and / or programmed to play snooker.
I think it's practicing straight-ins, and not snooker. But, nevertheless it is a beautiful machine that has tremendous dexterity! I work with ABB robots in an automated assembly cell, and when I saw this title I had to watch. It is amazing what these robots are capable of, isn't it?
Everything will break if you don't take care of them, do the service and they will last a long time. There are still ABB (ASEA) robots in Sweden that have been running for more then 30 years and they are still going strong, and that is in full production.
Yeh! Put two robots playing each other with an audience of all robots not forgetting the ref. Reminds me of the match Terry Griffiths v Cliff Thorburn.
I knew they were gonna be stealin our jerbs,! So I got me a job workin on the dern thangs. They need to respect my authoritah ! Those sons a bitses ! Screw you guys,i'm goin home.
It is a stock industrial robot set up as a demo at a trade show..... What better way than this to make your product the center of attention? Most people in the industry know how to relate the moves that are programmed in this demo to what they work with.
pistolschlapper lol You'll see people laughed all throughout that past 50 years saying computers will never do this or that and every time they did. Do you think computers will hit a wall and not improve further at something?
that's AI, these robots only can move to points, that humans determine...unless an AI, that become self aware, uses them, to anal penetrate every single human in the world
Guys guys lol relax. CLEARLY this is just a machinery demo. To shows it can do accurate stuffs and have good articulations. And it's using snooker to show it. End of story.
Thats impressive, one day a robot will get a 147. There are external factors outside of the robots control, such as the nap of the cloth, and chalk on the balls/table that could affect shots. But if the robot can get decent enough position, on each shot, the variations in the outcome of a shot should be minimal enough for the robot to continue breakbuilding, to get century breaks.
Just one shot calculated? Wow i can write this program in under 10 mins during my break. Then heading back to university and even got time for lunch...
So you put a snooker table in the shop and then make them work while the robot plays? I knew the robots were coming for my job, but I didn't know they were coming for the supervisor's job too!
WOW.. it repeats itself, which is too easy to write that up and make it do it, actually playing match which is what "snooker" is.. then I'll be all WTF!??? :0 amazed.
I had a big smile on my face during the whole video... I love robots that are this fast and this precise.
I like his winner's dance
I think this robot is very slim and gentle. The process he plays the snooker is like a dancer.
0:27 Hahaha. Does it really need to take those practice strokes? This robot is really mocking us.
He feathers it then proceeds to use some sort of triger 😂😂You're righ, he's mocking us.
Laughed when he started to feather but completely lost it when he didnt even used the "wrist". He has a trigger the maniac 🤣🤣🤣
Congratulations to the developers, you programmed the robot to brag about his every move XD
Exactly, perfect match of my comment that I have not written due to yours...
Just a while loop xD...
His ‘only’ move even
did that robot just give me the finger?
AWHAWAhWAWHAWHAWHA I laughed in front of my computer.. good good
I recognizes it too ! WTF
WTF is internet-slang and means "What The Fuck". I said this because it seems this robot showed us his middle finger nearly at the end of the video =)
Bahubali
sn0wchyld ya , middle finger
0:35 The robot is giving us the finger ! :O
F*ck you, humans 😂😂
I think porn industry was the first to develop a fucking robot.
crush job
And it even flips the bird afterwards, very impressive, I like it :)
That teasing flex though 😂
It almost got me into challenging that thing..

Playing snooker?? I saw ONE shot and then a whole lot of showboating.
i thought that's what snooker was.
Lmao one shot anyone could make
Playing snooker? ...I only saw the results a coded program interfaced with hardware in a loop run twice before the video ended
ABUZE it's the same exact shot both times so it only counts as one shot.
@@BlazerixGaming the second shot was a foul. 2 reds.
title should be "a drunk robot playing snooker"
Wow! this one is really nice... makes me remember the good old days at ABB where we used to do cool stuff like this.
If it adjusted to colored balls and different shots that would be impressive. Any robot can be programmed for repetitive tasks and fixed parameters.

That’s exactly what they are designed for, to be highly precise at a repeating cycle since there main purpose is manufacturing
8 years and still UA-cam algo suggesting this. How cool is that.
Playing against that robot would be worse than playing against Peter Ebdon...
Robots back in my day had RESPECT for the game!🤖
I think it's practicing straight-ins, and not snooker.
But, nevertheless it is a beautiful machine that has tremendous dexterity!

The "up yours" animation is very realistic.
Loved the way it celebrated after it’s good job
Too much showboating for my tastes, robots are sore winners.
Everything will break if you don't take care of them, do the service and they will last a long time. There are still ABB (ASEA) robots in Sweden that have been running for more then 30 years and they are still going strong, and that is in full production.

At least the programmers have a sense of humour
This is absolutely terrifying!
The ebdon 3000
Gave me a good laugh, nice programming and robot dance!
He was flexing his skills hard
Selby is the new Ebdon. 6 minutes for one shot.
Snooker is all about self-control. A robot doesn't have those issues, and, as such, will never be a worthy opponent, however invincible it might be.
Good job. They do their job with good humor and joy.
Everyone gangsta till the robot *learns to gloat*
Ha, that celebration is epic.
I love how it can only make that one specific shot
I will never get tired of this video
I watch this video over and over again!
Hahahaha! I love it! The way it took the shoot was unexpected, I thought it would swing with the full arm..
It took our jerbs! It took our hobbies!
I knew they were gonna be stealin our jerbs,! So I got me a job workin on the dern thangs. They need to respect my authoritah ! Those sons a bitses ! Screw you guys,i'm goin home.
They took our joooooobs!
Haha, I love how they gave the robot a personality.
ive never seen a robot flex so much lmao
The programmer have sense of humor. Good job! :-)))
the victory dance of the robot, is cute ;-;
i was expecting much more

*This mad engineer post his hard work on internet*
Every person out there: *"Nice!"*
ronnie would still beat it
Yeah but wait, not too long in the future robots will destroy humans at snooker.
pistolschlapper lol You'll see people laughed all throughout that past 50 years saying computers will never do this or that and every time they did. Do you think computers will hit a wall and not improve further at something?
It´s only a matter of time.
O'Sullivan too OP
Gapehorner Rocket would beat this fucker so bad that it would rip its own cables apart
Every good robot should have a victory dance!
It's all fun and games till it becomes self aware then we'll all have to hail our robot overlords.
that's AI, these robots only can move to points, that humans determine...unless an AI, that become self aware, uses them, to anal penetrate every single human in the world
Tell that to skynet...
lol would make a fantastic Dildo Machine :)
Not so much overlords, but overfiends.
This just can beat the ball to the appointed position. That's why this one hits two similar balls in similar position.
best victory dance ever
this robot has no sportsmanship... I like it!
love the little victory dance at 0:34
Oh he's just showing off now, he made one shot
touche. i can imagine the sales guys now: "That's it? Dude, make it at least dance or something. That'll really sell it."
I imagine this is how dinosaurs moved and get creeped out.
What an awesome robot...found it really funny and cool 😃
Now what would be really interesting is to you the robot to play shots with different spins and power
What a talented people i love you robot makers
That's a robot with attitude.
Demo to show capabilities, snooker is part of it, but not the main course.
Guys guys lol relax.
CLEARLY this is just a machinery demo. To shows it can do accurate stuffs and have good articulations. And it's using snooker to show it.
End of story.
Foul. Should've potted a color on second shot :D
Great work guys and girls.
Is that supposed to be a dance of happiness after it scores everytime? LOL
Well, yeah. I'll also make every shot if I get to place the balls myself!
I almost missed this video. I normally only watch snooker when Desi is refereeing.
Thats impressive, one day a robot will get a 147.

taking one of these to the pub with me next time I get challenged to a game!! :-)
Damn the developers really flexed its dexterity at the start :)
now picture John Higgins moving like that in the final against Mark Selby
OOoo! Spark plug cables! The Lucas Duck with Looney Tunes!!!!!!👓😂
Like a parrot that`s said a naughty word .lol
mind blowing robot!! amazing ABB technology>>
all i can hear in my head is " AWWWW YEAHHHHHH " then loud dubstep playing
Its just the same movement, i thought its come with some image processing and moving planing with random status.
This thing makes Ebdon look entertaining. What the fuck is it supposed to be doing????
Did that robot just gave me the finger? lol
love it
The robo seems to enjoy itself after the shot.
That Is AMAZING ABB Are Very Intelligent
🎶one shot, you only know one shot🎶
i don't think ronnie has anything to worry about just yet😄
I'm good at snooker too if I get to place the balls where ever I want them!
Just one shot calculated?
Wow i can write this program in under 10 mins during my break.
Then heading back to university and even got time for lunch...
I searched 'snooker' not dance lessons
Well someone had fun programming that showroom loop
So you put a snooker table in the shop and then make them work while the robot plays? I knew the robots were coming for my job, but I didn't know they were coming for the supervisor's job too!
I only have one thing to say about this..... Awesome!!
other adjectives also available
How the fuck did they give it my pre-shot routine???
My wife would love this.
The future 8 times champion of the world...
I've Seen Homer Simpson Try To Do This Trick With A Knife Going In Between His Finger's And He FAILED. HAHAHA, LOL 😃👍.
that's a good idea, I'll consider it for my new design
Nice work!
VERY quiet and undisruptive play, but the "notice-ME," self-congratulatory bowing still reminds me too much of Earl Strickland.
And u have to wait for eternities before he play the next shot
now if only the wealthy creators of this were not greedy i could have one of these assembling items for me for resale .
Cor, Mark Selby's changed quite a bit recently!
Quite the victory dance for one ball potted - and I think they missed a trick by not naming it 'The AutoCue'...
Programming :
5% Playing Snooker
95% celebration
Better watch out, Ron.
Its actually not about the shot, the video is about flexibility of movements for that robot!!!
WOW.. it repeats itself, which is too easy to write that up and make it do it, actually playing match which is what "snooker" is.. then I'll be all WTF!??? :0 amazed.
