    I'm making this kit as we speak and it's just fantastic. Tamiya just announced their F-35C in 48 scale, just need them to make it in 72 scale. Italeri is releasing a C in 72 scale, but the ram lines are toooo out of proportion.

    I have both A and B versions and C on order. Fortunately I live in Japan so availability is good and prices reasonable. Except for that damn 1/32 Tamiya Mosquito! If I ever get one I'm going to place it in a special lock glass case, unbuilt in its box, and stare at it in awe everyday. 😍

    I think the ram tapes are not so pronounced now, I may be wrong, its hard to tell from images as the angle of view plays a part. Tamiya have knocked it out the park again. I am waiting for their F-35C 1/48 even if I never build it, it's just a scale model engineering miracle!

    • @nickbrough8335
      @nickbrough8335 Місяць тому

      I think the main difference is that the "tape" is now pretty much the same colour as the majority of fuselage, which makes it stand out less.

    Tell you what Peter, between £31.99 - £34.99, what a bargain for such a superb kit! I have the Hasegawa version (NO wepon bay, naughty) and the very nice Italeri version (with weapon bay - hurray!). Both kits of a high standard but it looks like the Tamiya kit has trumped them - except for not cutting the canopy mask for the modeller, strange oversight. Balanced by the inclusion of the stand/extended gear option. Thanks for the deep review, going on my wish list.

    What does this one have that a Spitfire don't have, or a Lightning, or a Dora-9, or a....some expensive target drones when missiles catch up! 😉😆😂
    I'll rather buy another 1/48 Kinetic Sea Harrier than one of these F-35's or F-22's, there....I've said it, deal with it! 😉😆😂

    You're right on the button with 10 out of 10 for detail and value, it's is not my favourite aircraft but I am warming to it l wonder if the guys at Tamiya would do a B17 with the same detail in 1/72 👍

    I just built the 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Vb. The decals were generally atrocious, particularly roundels, which have two parts - the white backing, and then the blue/yellow/red part. Although the rear fuselage band and yellow wing leading edges were fine.

      @@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab 617 is a bomber squadron and really the F-35 should be designated as F/A-35 (joint strike fighter project after all). In that respect it's a direct follow up to the Tornado. The stupidity is that it's a Marines variant rather than the A model, which the RAF ought to buy (if we weren't saving pennies for Tempest).

  • @nickbrough8335
    @nickbrough8335 Місяць тому +2

    The F-35 is going to be the main global aircraft system over the next 20 years across multiple nationalities. Whilst they all have boring stealth paint schemes, if youre Airfix, Revell, Tamiya, Meng etc etc, not having an F-35 in 1/72 and 1/48 is a large gap in your product range (airfix for example could/should do UK specific weapons such as Spear 3, Meteor Paveway IV etc because no one else will). It may not make any sense to the modeller, but if you dont have it in your standard range, its lots of lost sales and opportunity. It's lunacy that Airfix hasn't produce a EF Typhoon. My cash has gone straight to Revell.
