Can a 5.1 surround speakers set be connected to tv without running through a receiver? TV has HDMI in/out (NOT ARC - TV is old but still works great) , it has optical OUT and lots of RCA ports in and out. Need help: Trying to connect epson projector (3.5mm audio out) ro Rockit 8 studio speaker which has 2 options for audio in: 1) single unbalanced RCA in, 2) balanced 1/4 in. I used a 1/4 adapter to the 3.5m cable and got background music and sounds, but no vocal sound. If I wiggle the 3.5mm inside of the 1/4 adapter, I can suddenly get vocal audio, but its shady and the 3.5mm will fall out of adapter if I let go. Why O Why!?!?! Will using a 3.5mm to rca male adapter work so I can get music and vocals? Advice is welcomed.

Bare wire speakers need to be amplified. Tv rca ports don’t amplify unfortunately.
