Even shooting them as you're moving close, and switching to melee to attack them may also bait them into trying to also switch to theirs due to their low HP from getting shot a lot

In tf2, the models don't line up with the bounding boxes that determine stabs. There's about a 30 millisecond delay between the model you see and the actual hitbox, even with 0 ping. Not only that, stabs are clientside, so there will always be a discrepancy between what you see and what the spy sees. The reason spies say facestabs don't exist is because the same settings that cause facestabs also dictate hitscan, medibeams, melee etc. Spies just know how to work around it the best, so they get the most amount of shit for it. It's also the reason why it's significantly harder to trickstab a spy main playing pyro than a pyro main playing pyro.
The enforcer, pretty boy's pocket pistol, smg, lugermorph, shotgun, winger, cleaner's carbine, revolver, and pistol are all being pointed at the spy in the thumbnail.
I like to think of face stabs as random crits for spys I feel like it's kinda unfair for him to not get random criticism and be the weakest class so I feel like it balances out with that in mind
