I have 11yrs experience in brand design and I was recently under a lot of pressure to switch to product design but I hate it there, I really do. I'm super glad someone like you is out there making brand/marketing design look cool.
Super refreshing interview. Awesome to see some of the insights behind the Webflowness! Loved the quick quote shots! Great charm in re-stating some awesome things being said. I’m
I loved the webflow.com/ecommerce page. I was so entranced in what the graphics were doing that I stopped looking at the content. But then I was so impressed with how the graphics/design worked that my takeaway was "this is a quality site. I need to go back and read this. Clearly, it's going to be good."
Very interesting interview, the exchange feels very genuine and even though I'm not a marketing designer I got a few nice bits of info that I can use in my design practice. Also, I love the webflow brand. It feels fresh and playful but with a strong and serious backbone. It's a tough balancing act, so kudos to them.
Loved it, Charli! great work as always! I felt like the title was a little misleading haha I was totally expecting a brand identity designer, I guess I'm not familiarized with the web designers terminology? I don't know haha or maybe include the actual ramification of design like "brand web designer". Midway through the video I realized it was not brand identity haha but still enjoyed it a lot though!
Also what do you mean when you say "product designer"? Because I always thought it refers to industrial designers but now I don't know... I'm very confused haha sorry, English is not my native language
“Brand design” or “marketing design” is a common job in the tech industry, meaning you work on designing the marketing and branded materials. “Product design” is when you design the software itself. Hope that helps!
yep, like Melissa said, I use Webflow for my personal site and the website I work on at my day job is a WordPress site. I wonder if by 'tools' you mean 'theme' though? In which case I always design from scratch and don't use a pre-made template.

So glad to hear from other in-house designers facing the same issues like testing (or the lack of 😅) and the whole brand vs product design
right!? It feels good to admit it's a luxury.
