@@johanjonasson4188 I don't think it helped at all. In addition to lack of play, this year, he had a very poor clay court season. This is not the Nadal we know. There was definitely something "off" about his performance but not only at the French Open. It's my understanding his foot is always suffering from some variance of pain. If he had surgery for it, then obviously it had worsened. As I write this, I just received a text about Rafa's comeback in Abu Dhabi. It looks like he lost to Andy Murray, 6-2 7-5. Rafa will now play Shapovolov for 3rd place. Shapo is a strong player but inconsistent with his play. Let's see how Rafa does after the loss to Murray. He may be angry and disappointed, with himself, that will help to elevate his game. For a Nadal fan, this year has been so depressing. I still have high hopes for a great 2022.

Khan both Roger and Novak are great players but I have never seen them consistently produce these impeccable shots under extreme pressure with the regularity that Nadal does it .Just listen to the commentators when Nadal is playing inspired tennis they use phrases like "he is just a freak of nature ".I have never heard commentators describe and other player as superhuman.
