Installing the upgrade all Td5 Defenders NEED!

- Опубліковано 1 сер 2024
- With all the performance upgrades the Defender has received over the years, a rev counter felt like an obvious choice for a new mod. And while there are a number of options available, it had to be the factory Td5 version 👌

This is exactly what I've been looking at doing!!
Agreed. Deffo a must on a Defender TD5 👌
Top super solution.👍
you can't beat the sound of a 5 cylinder diesel
5 cylinder turbo petrol ;)
@@e-lan4221 TD/SD V8 Diesel beats them all in a Defender! :D
A good video guys
Thanks David!
l fitted a rev counter to my 110 some years ago, l never find myself exceeding 3,000 rpm in normal driving although it does rev nicely to 4,000 on the occasions l've tried it!
The TD5 genuine rev counter used to be £85 but now it's nearly £300
Would be better if the kit wasn't with scotch locks, just asking for issues.
Ace job guys. Did you fit an larger intercooler ??
suprised you haven't sound proofred the defenders, espically in the td5 we did it to ours and made such a amazing difference
The noise level doesn't bother me too much but perhaps a future mod 👍
Made a big difference for me - like you I had been changing a lot lower RPM than I had thought. Now try and do an 'Italian tune' once a month to clear off any waste product, especially if I have been doing a fair bit of pottering
Will be interesting to see how my driving style changes 😄
Spoiled down here in South Africa. On the TD5s' manufactured down here I believe this was standard.
Didn't know that, lucky you guys!
I’ve got a petrol Defender with a rev counter, hilarious because it’s the worlds smallest gauge but goes up to 7k rpm
I’ve been looking for a video on how to do this for ages, I have ordered a genuine one
Awesome 👌
Same for me! And they just dropped it - thanks! :)
Where in Denmark do you guys live? I live just besidde Vejle!
I’ve been looking forward to more mods!
I’d just like to ask, what exhaust do you have on the td5? I am looking to get a storm tuning stage 2 and obviously need a new exhaust
It's just a straight through/silencer replacement pipe. I think it's this one: www.paddockspares.com/pm952-ss-silencer-replacement-pipe-def-90-td5.html
If you have a 15p then you will need a cat delete pipe as well
dont use the scotch locks they are crap solder and heat shrink it
Indeed, never ever use that! It will fail within short time
How much is all set
My neighbors winged at me, saying my stock 2013 puma was too loud when I leave for work. Maybe I should get a couple of remapped td5s to do some laps round the street, then they'll know what loud is!
In south Africa this came standard on our defenders. Pretty useless gauge. Would prefer a EGT gauge.
Well, it's better than a clock 😄
Will you sell the clock??
I have a spare clock as I installed the Rev counter
@@stevebaldya would you sell it?
@@benjaminengland2663 Definitely I'm not using it
I thought you were going to fit a v8 as every time I drive one I think this definder needs a v8.
