Hey 12volt, what do you think would cause a feint blue line to be seen in the middle of the screen during EP VHS playback? Worn head drum? JVC HR-S7800U
If the head drum was worn it would affect the entire picture. Could be some dirt on the lower drum or a scratch that is causing the tape yo shift slightly about half way through the scan. The top of the picture is at the left side where the tape starts its travel and the bottom at the right edge where the tape leaves the drum. Anything on the lower drum that shifts the tape can cause momentary loss of signal that will appear as a stationary horizontal line.
@@12voltvids it's a vertical blue bar that is just right of center of the picture. Can see it most when there is a black background. SP tapes are fine, I just had the video head and mode switch cleaned by a JVC service shop.
@@12voltvids didn’t eat the tape… tried several different tapes… it was working fine about 6 months ago and hasn’t been moved. Going to pull the cover this weekend and see what I can see.
I live in the far south Chicago sub. We have a Sony EVC100 which we haven't used in many years Can't fine the remote need one and the manual front round control wheel won't rewind all the time ? Can you help or recommend a good repair company or service in the south suburbs of Chicago. Where are you located maybe I could send it to you ?
Hi Dave how do i go about sending a Panasonic Stereo VCR to you to get working again? Worked when put away in box and it's been in a box for about almost around 2003ish
Do you complain about getting free refills? Let's talk about the doubled prices on food. Even subway sandwiches' footlongs are $15 here, Raisin Canes has also doubles here
If a place charges for refills they should be up front. Not ask if you want a refill and then charge 4.00 for it. That's ok I put down the exact amount and left. No tip. That sends a message and never returning sends another message. I stopped going to subway years ago when they raised their prices.
Nice work and gee if only Sony used blue caps in all their devices back then :) That tape mech looks the same as my GV-8 and GV-9 Video Walkmans.
So very much wish I can pick up a deck like that. In South Africa you might get the 8mm but not a hi8. Good job as always.
They are rare here too.
What a perfect textbook waveform.
Cant beat the analogue scope.

I have a Sony EV-C200 that won't play, rewind, or etc... it will for about 3 seconds then stops... ideas?
Ate the tape spools moving? If so then it will be a rotation sensor.

Awesome unit.
Which version of molycoat are you using? Thanks!

I'm in canada and I couldn't recommend a company here because I don't know of any. They all have closed their doors.
I think it came out around the Nineties
The VCR is a PV-S7670

The thing is it's probably not worth sending a VCR. The shipping costs are prohibitive.
@@12voltvids that's what I was thinking too
There was never a free "refill" in most other countries, so North America starts to normalize...
Can these be used like a vcr?
Yes
i would never guess that solder joint was unreliable. I would replace the motor.
We know the motor is ok because when he clipped a battery on it worked to remove the tape.

@@12voltvids I agree
I have the same unit. It loaded and balled up the tape now wont eject. How can I get the tape out manually?
