    Soule's Vader comics make me feel like they should be a tv show between the Mon Cala falling, the early Inquisitorius, and everything about Momin.

    I honestly hope we get another "Age Of" series. Writer's might have a harder time with Republic and Resistance era villains, they did the bulk of them already. But Rebellion era has tons of untouched characters: Hera, Nien Nunb, Lobot, Bossk, General Veers, Sim Aloo ...
    There was a Dark Horse series called "Star Wars Tales", short stories about a character or two (one of my favorites was Apocalypse Endor - it's exactly what you think), I think Marvel would be wise to revisit this idea. Any type of anthology series would be a great idea.

      @@StarWarsExplained I know for me anyway I enjoyed it a bit more because of the seeds of distrust that were growing between Vader and Sidious, as Vader has his own agenda that he tries to hide from his master. It was just a really interesting dynamic in my opinion

    Comics are my favorite medium for Star Wars for the past few years.
    I absolutely love the novels, and movies and games but I just like the amount of comics compared to the other mediums. There are comics from pre-TPM all the way to during the Sequel trilogy.

    Outside of the movies, Dr. Aphra has been my favorite character introduced under Disney. She's just so much fun to read and I've loved her ongoing series. Both of the ongoing Vader comics were also highlights for me, as was the Kanan series. I've enjoyed the main Star Wars series, but I agree that it's been up and down. At it's best, it's giving some epic stories between IV and V. At it's worst, it just kind of exists and moves the timeline forward, and usually in a somewhat interesting/entertaining way.

    One thing I hope to see in the next Dr aphra series is a really fresh start for the character. I love the character, but the series felt like it was going in circles at some point: she reunited with Tolfan again, messed up again, run into Vader again, survived Vader again (seriously if she keeps doing that every ten issues it's going to become ridiculous in the long run) and so on.

    My only issue with the Darth Vader comics (and this is just me nitpicking here) was the Inquisitors were just there. Not only that but visually they look exactly the same as they did 15 years later in the Rebels TV series.
    I would have liked to have seen some in transitional gear, using their old Jedi weapons with only the Grand Inquisitor having a double bladed spinning lightsaber at that point. By the time of the Mon Cala arc then we would see a more uniformed Inquisitorious, all with spinning double bladed lightsabers.

    Comics is the second biggest love in SW, but the marvel ones are really boring, except some parts.
    Highlights
    The Vader series (both are great)
    The minisseries are interesting
    Down
    Movie adaptations are boring, and some with bad art. (the best is rogue one)
    SW series itself, starts well, but going to be boring, let´s see if the new era will be better

      @sharilshahed6106 4 роки тому +2

      @@alberteinstein3419 Legends is overrated. It had 35+ years of content and most of the time it did was borrow tropes like zombies and resurrections from other media and pass it off as "unique", that is not including it's multitude of contradicting canons.
      I'm not saying that the new media is all that great either, but look back after equal amount of years while not slam-dunk in narrow minded nostalgia. It just started unravelling and can go either ways, having seen tons of similar retcons in comicbooks and that most of them had gotten better, I think same would happen here as well.

      Lucas Diego I'd say the fault is they're not exploring as much as they can and just playing it safe. But on the other hand those that went off like Dr Aphra had been pretty great. The Kylo Ren series also seems promising, written by Charles Seoule as well.

    Speaking as a lover of Marvel comics in general, the entire 25 issue Kieron Gillen Vader series is absolutely one of the best comic series I've ever read.
    One thing I was really keen on was the seamless way the main Star Wars comic series and the Vader one had incredible overlap. It never felt necessary that you read both at the same time but had incredible pay off if you did.
    The best example for me being when Boba Fett tells Vader in the main series and the Vader one and the different perspectives your shown.
    I regret that they kinda stopped doing it after Vader Down. Though I'm hopeful the new main series and Vader comics pick that up again.

  • @MCLegoboy

    I still have yet to do it, but I probably should try to pick up some trades of the comics. You've reviewed a number of stories that have sounded really interesting and I'd like to experience some of them for myself. One of the issues of Vader that you reviewed made me wish it was a some sort of animated show with the crew of Clone Wars and Rebels voicing all the characters, and I really should just pick up the trade if it exists.

  • @MichaelHeide
    @MichaelHeide 4 роки тому

    I never expected the movies to go too deep into concepts introduced in the comic books, but it still sucked how they fully ignored every little detail of the lead-ins to the movies (except for Ackbar junior to appear in the background of Rise of Skywalker here and there).
    I mean, Poe's parents had Luke's Force tree, and yet he seems to be the only one in the sequel trilogy who ISN'T Force sensitive.
    And Allegiance was such a waste of pages.

  • @GuanoLad
    @GuanoLad 4 роки тому

    There has been talk that there might be a Doctor Aphra live-action TV series in development, and I haven't even read the comic, but as it has been described, it really interests me. I want to see adventures that are just fun. It was my favourite part of The Rise Of Skywalker and it sounds like Doctor Aphra is the best way to get that same approach. Whether it would work as a TV show or not, or even get to stage 2 in its development, who knows, but it certainly intrigues and excites me. And yes, Chloe Bennet would be ideal.

    4:07 I agree with your point about separating the material away from the Skywalkers.
    In the end, I found the ST to not live up to it's promises. While TLJ is easily one of the best films in the franchise, I'm exasperated from playing things so safe.
    Star Wars works so much better when writers dig into the sheer scale of the lore and what they have the work with. E.g. Darth Plagueis is one of the absolute craziest novels in Legends, James Luceno gave incredible pay off to anyone that indulged in Legends material.
    The media outside of film has been so much better. Rebels is probably the best start to finish narratives the series has produced. TCW was an incredible way for George Lucas to flesh out so many concepts he never could in film. I roll my eyes over the fact that Maul could survive his bisection. However, when putting that aside his and the Nightsisters arcs were some of the strongest.
    I what bolder, stranger, and braver stories. More Aphras, more Republic Commandos, like in Legends. There's so much lore to dig into that hyperfocusing on the Skywalkers is a waste of potential.
