- In this video, we're sharing how we know when to harvest beets. Beets are some of the easiest veggies to grow in early spring. Plant seeds a few weeks before the last frost, and just 60 days later, you'll have fresh, delicious sweet beets to pick.
Most people enjoy the beetroot, but the leaves are also edible (and delicious)! Use them as a salad green, or steam the older leaves for a perfect, nutritious side dish.

bought mine from local farm and chopped off the upper part portion to plant it. I forgot few months that i had planted and when i finally remembered, they have grown super massive.. like the size of a small coconut! lol.. i really need to study on what to look for, for a perfect harvest time.
Quite small these are. If you like them this size, try multisowing, it's a technique where you drop a few seeds in one hole, so they grow together, these will push each other away. This works for beets, radish, onions, leeks, and some other root vegetables.
Yes I’ve heard that works well. This variety doesn’t seem to get super huge like other dark red types. Thanks for the tip

Nice! The only maintenance really is keeping them well watered, especially early on. We had some hot days this year and the seedlings wilted a lot
Good video!! I'm a die hard Detroit Red beet person. I have tried a yellow variety and they are ok. I feel in love with Avalanche. It's a white beet, so sweet. After I harvested them last year I went and ordered 2 more packets (500 seeds) so I would have enought for this year Lol.. Give them a try!!!

My beets sprouted and just got stuck about 1” tall, not sure why. Everything else in the same bed is doing really well
Hm, it could be something to do with either temperature or maybe the soil's looseness - beets and other root veggies like fluffy loose soil. Hope they pick up!
