is their bedding coffee ground or dried chicken feed?
For starters, I used chicken feed. But you can also use coffee ground. But be sure to ferment whatever you are giving them for a couple of days first. The fermentation is going to increase the nutritional value of the substrate.
The container is too congested for that quantity of BSF, at this stage you should move to a wider space.
If you watched the following series, you would see our transition to a bigger space.
How many grams can give you this much larvae?
Larvae can eat 50 times their body weight. Although I didn't measure it. But the appropriate measurements would be add 150 grams of 5DOL i.e 5days old larvae to 10kg of substrate or food. Hope this helps.

I want everyone to raise BSF.
(I am not the person you asked. I'm a different person.)
Technically, you COULD start out with just 2 individual eggs (if you are VERY VERY lucky) and end up with however many larvae you want.
However, the more you start with, the easier it is to get it going.
(Generation 1) 1 female, 500 eggs. (500).
(Generation 2) 250 female x 500 eggs = 125,000 eggs. (125 thousand).
(Generation 3) 62,500 female x 500 eggs = 31,250,000 eggs. (31 million).
(Generation 4) 15,625,000 female x 500 eggs = 7,812,500,000 eggs. (7.8 billion).
The hardest part is:
1. Getting the flies to breed and lay eggs where you can harvest them (they need lots of light).
The medium to large larvae raising part itself is practically effortless.
