Quail poop works awesome too. I had my Quail on my back porch and placed rubber totes under the pen. After a couple weeks it was chock full of larva. I sifted them out and fed the larva back to them. Easy way to make feed cheaper and super easy way to let mother nature feed itself.

Will BSF eat any type of manure? I bred cats and so had a lot of "cat manure". I use a wheat bran cat litter. I'm wondering if BSF would be the solution to not taking the cat feces to the dump.
@@Michigan_Girl Because just like cows, horses, birds, etc, there are different characteristics to preserve through selective science based breeding. I bred Turkish Vans, a natural breed 2000 yrs old, which is now pretty much extinct in the middle east. It has wonderful characteristics that are only preserved by reputable cat fanciers who make no money in breeding, doing it only for saving this wonderful cat. Like reputable breeders of the CFA, ACFA and TICA associations, My pet cats were always sold with health guarantees, all vaccines and spayed or neutered with legal contracts requiring the new owners to always keep the cat INDOORS and not running loose on penalty of my taking the cat back to rehome in a better home. Look at the news, you'll find that it's domestic mixed breed cats from shelters killing birds because they make no condition on keeping the cats indoors. That is not a condition they can require because it might mean they can't place as many cats and would have to kill them. Cat breeders always show their cats in public using the forum as an educational opportunity to talk with the public about vaccines and keeping their pets indoors or under control. I'm glad to say I've had many people say I opened up their eyes as to the dangers of letting their cats outdoors and the need for health checks and vaccines.

2- is there any kind of food, environment, temperature that determines or favors this gender definition?
3- In mating the ratio is 1 to 1 or a male can cover more than one female?
ONLY FEMALE CAN GENERATE LARVAE. 26°C IS THE BEST TEMP AND A MALE CAN COVER MANY FEMALES

1. No as far as I know. The larvae look identical.
2. No the ratio is always 50:50
3. I'm unsure about this. I'm inclined to think males will only mate once.
Also in a population of say 1000 bsfs 500 males and 500 female. Only about 20% of the population will mate.

I have some larvae here already that i need to dispose (i cook them lightly using my gas stove). Can you please give me.. What is the difference between using black flies and house flies? And why would one recommend using one and not the other?
Adult black soldier flies have no mouth and aren't attracted to our food, only rotten smelly items, and won't land directly on them but only nearby.
Houseflies will eat garbage and feces then land and lay eggs on your fresh fruit and evening meal while trailing disease and bacteria all over them.
Housefly maggots will crawl all over everywhere, smell bad, and don't process foods well.
BSF larvae are easily contained and harvested, reduce smell and process very well and quickly, and become very nutritious and valuable feed.
Housefly brings deseases..

The biggest problem with chicken manure is you almost have to handle it like nuclear waste. The list of ways you can get sick from it is longer than my arm. Everyone please be careful.
Ferment it with yeast and you can smear it in your face without the smell..
