    My grandfather was chief dispatcher for the Shenandoah Division of the N&W in the late 50s. He would be very proud to see the work you’ve done here. Thanks for sharing!

    I don't know if this is a home layout, but this is history recreated and it belongs in a public museum, behind plexiglass, so that all can see. Such craftsmanship must be preserved for the long term, not lost, with an owner's death. An exhibit like this would be a good draw for an otherwise ho-hum local museum.

    Stunning engine weathering and sounds! 2 questions. What decoder did you use? Where did you get those water tenders? I have looked, EVERYWHERE, but can't find anywhere. Have a good day!

    Hey, isn't that O.Winston Link´s 52 Buick Convertible in front of the crossing at 1:00? This photographer made fantastic pictures of the N&W in the 50s.

    @dferg100: You could paste a photo backdrop to the wall that would accomplish that same thing. I help on a model railroad that has photo backdrops & they are the way to go.

  • @TrainDr101
    @TrainDr101 13 років тому

    I'm impressed w/ how that backdrop interacts w/ that scene! From the aisle side, it looks like the the backdrop is a mile away from the shallow relief mountains. But, the camera over the layout looking unto the corner makes it look like 2 tall & narrow canyons are portruding thru the wall.

      Chase Hudson Yes agreed, I think all the work put into this layout
      and the weathering of the locomotives and freight cars, is 'exceptional'
      and the way I would imagine this railroad would have looked and ran in
      it's heyday!
      This,is something I'm always happy to return to, as it's just great to watch
      and enjoy over again!

    WOW!~ If I was not such a Slobbering Pennsy Freak I could fall head first for the N&W. The Y6b is my most wanted loco that is not made - yet- in S Scale.
    Great video - a little moody - perhaps that was intentional. Great layout. It really gives the grit and taste of the N&W.

    Great locos, realistic speed, but HO sound is such a joke. Sound doesn't really become decent until you get to O gauge...what some of the loco manufactures justify charging per loco considering the terribly tinny sound they produce is almost criminal.

    Fabulous layout! Incredible detail! One minor point: the Erie-Lackawanna gondola on the freight train is not correct for this period of time. The Erie and the Lackawanna did not merge until 1960, long after N&W steam was gone. That car should be Lackawanna or Erie, not Erie-Lackawanna. I don't mean to be too picky, but that jumped right out at me and wanted to mention it.

    What layout IS this ? Like to see the rest of it... Only poor thing is the obnoxious, too puffy, lichen covered hills. Pull em' apart a little. Add some grays and other flat green shades, some dark browns, yellows here and there. Some rock gray peeking through ...This would render it a perfect MRR instead of 99% perfect......!

  • @MarkInLA
    @MarkInLA 9 років тому
