#5 alone changed EVERYTHING!!! I got a 2-in-1 shower head and the handheld thing changed wash day. I have to wash my hair weekly, otherwise my scalp itches like crazy!!!! A handheld showerhead made washing my hair so much easier.
i was planning on getting 2 strand twist micro locs bc i was joining the marines. I thought it'd be low maintenance and easy to deal with. CLEARLY i was mistaken
I use that aloe gel for retwists too. Other stuff I tried I would see it turn white on wash day (buildup). I wish the hold was slightly better though. You and your locs always look beautiful.
My locs are FINALLY 1 year old!!!! I have gone to a stylist regularly but this next year I am going to try washing & styling myself. Your videos are so helpful! Also, scarfs do not stay on my head! I use a du-rag & bonnet but even that comes off most night 😩😩.
PraisePlanPurpose there is a product called a satin braid bonnet. Best of both worlds. Holds your hair down in the front like a Du-rag and the back fits like a long shaped bonnet. I got locs this year July 20 and sadly for some reason I just get build up at the roots of my locs, I have cried so many times because I’ve tried so hard getting it out and I’m terrified my loctition will be mad at me, but I’ve literally been washing it correctly but honestly it just gets stuck and I feel like maybe locs were not the best choice for me even though I love them
Hey Nina .. what do you apply to your scalp in between washes to control the dandruff .. for you to actually get to week three .. because I have a fro rn and if I go like three days without washing my head already gets flaky and itchy .. I've been considering getting locs ..

Hello Nina , I hope you see this comment , I’m past six months on my loc journey and everyday for the past three months I soak my locs in water . I haven’t had any problems yet. I wanted to know your thoughts on that ?
Amanda Attipoe I’m not an expert, but I think that is the best way to get moisture into your locs. I hear some UA-camr worrying about mildew with frequent exposure to water. I think that the benefits outweigh that risk. I think that occasionally shampooing with Nizoral shampoo should eliminate the risk of mildew if any. Even just a rinse with vinegar helps prevent mildew. Also don’t cover your hair for a long period while it’s wet.
NattyDST340 I use that gel for my retwists it has very good hold depending on your hair. It works the best on my perimeter but weaker hold in the back of my hair where I have a lot of frizz. They have small travel sized bottles of it. Give it a try.
I CANNOT WAIT till my locs are locked so i can really wash the hell out of them, instead of using a damn skull cap (they are only like 4 inches) lol but yeah, i always protect my hair from everything. Might as well start now lol

I'm almost a month in locking my hair what do you suggest I use to oil my locks? Because it is very dry

Have you tried tea tree oil? It's liquid gold to many of us in the the loc community
Every time I’m in my car, I remove lint and fine fibers from my hair. Sunlight allows me to see what I can’t ar home in my mirror.
