When making a full lace wig foundation for a custom fit wig, the main method of connecting the Swiss lace pieces together is by the use of a folded seam.
I have discussed the method of creating a folded seam in my last video post.
Sometimes it is useful to use a flat seam when wig making.
Flat seams are used when connecting the fine lace to the Swiss lace foundation net.
By using a flat seam in wig making it results in a much lighter finish in its appearance.
This lighter seam is perfect when knotting or ventilating blonde hair or white hair into your wig.
The seam is much easier to disguise as it is just two layers of Swiss lace, where a folded seam is more layers thick and thus darker in appearance.
Flat seams in wig making are great when producing toupees or toppers which require a smaller amount of hair to be knotted or ventilated into the wig base.
This video will take a look at producing a flat seam in the wig making process.

Hi. Would it be possible to sew it in the middle and then cut the excess off from each side? Thanks.

Angels lace wigs the next time I do a crown I will rustle something up. Might be a while though as I don’t do crowns very often 👍

Thanks so much for the great video, again.
btw-I'm the person (@yoashmo) who is always harassing you with questions and complimenting your work on instagram.
Do you know what topic you will cover in your next video? If not, I'd really appreciate one showing the way you pad out and transfer measurements from the head mold to the canvas block. I love the way yours turn out all neat and perfect. I've (as usual) been stalking your instagrams to try and get the steps down, but being a perfectionist I'm always afraid I'm missing something crucial.
    Thanks again
EDIT- scratch that request I just realized that not only have you done those videos but I've actually watched them.
I'm at the making a foundation stage so if you don't mind I would love a video talking about the most common foundation pattern and the pros and cons of them. Like how do you decide which type would best fit the wig you're trying to make.
Also is there such a thing as nape lace? I saw someone use this term and it confused me as in all my research I've never seen that term used to describe a specific type of lace. But like I said I'm new to this, and I'm teaching myself so it's possible I'm just ignorant to some terminology. I truly feel like wigmaking is what I'm meant to do so I apologize if I'm being annoying. :)

Hi Ashley what I tend to do is use front lace and dye it to match the colour of the foundation lace. Nape lace would be referring to a finer lace as it can be visible if putting the wig hair in an up style. www.thewigdepartment.com sell great dye and finer lace. happy wig making

I will try to talk about foundations in a video soon. My honest opinion is that there is no wrong aright foundation to use as long as the end result looks great. personal preference. people are very quick to dictate opinions and tell you what you are doing is wrong. once the hair is on that wig and it looks fantastic, is a job perfected xxx

WAM Studio Thank You so much. I knew you could put fronting lace at the nape area but I never thought to dye it the color of the foundation base. When using fronting lace in the nape area would you recommend doing the doubling it over so it makes 2 layers like you've recently shown on your instagram? you know for added strength.
I actually love the wig department and get most of my supplies from there. I've purchased the set of front lace dye a few months ago but haven't used it yet. I've actually been hounding you with my questions bc I wanted to give Ms. Chrissie a break from them. You both are so brilliant and helpful and I really appreciate it. Thank You

WAM Studio Thank You for saying that, about the no right or wrong way as long as it looks good and works well when done. I have run in to some very opinionated wigmakers whom I feel sometimes purposefully hand out misinformation. But it inspiring to be told there is a bit of wiggle room when it comes to technique. This will help quell my perfectionism from working against me. thanks again

Wow, another masterpiece. Is this type of work for when you need to join 2 different sections/types of lace together? For say, at the 'Crown' area?

    • @WAMStudio
      @WAMStudio  6 років тому

Will Campbell it would work for a crown and the front lace hairline and thank you 😊

Will Campbell I remember using whipping as a hashtag on Instagram and I got all sorts of reaction from leather clad ladies 😂
