I love this tutorial. There is no unnecessary comments and droning on. It’s straight to the point. You see the stitch and pattern without waiting forever to get on with it. Thank you for that. I subscribed and liked. I will definitely pass this on to my family and friends.
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial! I bought a blanket kit not realizing it was c2c - after watching/searching so many videos I found yours- the easiest to understand AND using half double crochet which is what my pattern calls for. Thank you!
I finished my HDC c2c and love it, I used an 8mm hook with Aran yarn, I had 2 shades, a pinky/red Variegated and a grey/cream twist. The Yarns were made a super cosy lap blanket. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you for not being one of those "teachers" that has to go so slow as if everyone is a beginner. I will definitely be using your video to learn this C2C stitch!!!
Unfortunately there are beginners like me im 70years old and recently started doing crochet! Your work are so beautiful but sadly I'll have to skip as I can't follow! 😢
Thank you for the idea and tutorial. I really like working with hdc for the c2c pattern. I happened to purchase the same Caron Cotton Cakes yarn but in different color, Sunset Dreams. The color called out to me for a C2C stitch pattern. However, it has been a while since I worked with this pattern; I forgot how to start it. While searching on UA-cam, I found your tutorial. It just happened to be in the same yarn which helped me to see the result. So, I made the baby blanket and it turned out so well. On the side notes. I read some comments about using smaller hook size to work with the pattern in dc in order to minimize the gaps between the DCs. I tried that too and although, it worked as they claimed, I ended up choosing the hdc for the c2c pattern. The reason? With the hdc in this c2c pattern, it created a slightly thicker fabric which was more suitable for my nephew's baby who lived in cooler climate. Again, thank you for your time & work to create and post this tutorial.
Your hdc tutorial is very clear and helpful. A friend and I have decided to do try several C2C projects together. also just added your Blog to one of my favorites. Lots of great ideas and projects. Thanks very much!
Thank you very much for this amazing tutorial. It's easy to follow and straight to the point. I think I've just found the perfect pattern for the blanket I'd like to crochet. 🙂
Thank you for the informative tutorial. I've been wanting to try C2C. About to make a scarf. HDC is one of my favorite stitches as it's tall but without the gaps of DC.
I love tutorials. They’ve enabled me to pick up crochet again after a very long break. I’ve learned many new stitches and have gifted lots of projects. I love the idea of corner to corner blankets. I’m terrified to try it though. How many stitches do you chain if you want a bigger blanket?
This is 1 pattern I can not get. I have watched several different tutorials and still can not get it right. But thank you for the tutorial, it is definitely one of the better ones I have watched. You are a great instructor!!!! I absolutely love the candy cane boarder you did. I never saw anyone do that before, it does tangle the yarn if you don't keep an eye on it but it's worth it.
Ok I’m confused though on if wanting to make a square baby blanket and not rectangular one.. not sure the decreasing whole process to start to finishing it up. I need a slower video tutorial for this beginner in the c2c . Also how many of these cotton cakes does it take to make a baby blanket size and how long does it take to make one? Thank you 🙏🏻
I really appreciate the C2C tutorial using half double as I've struggled with it in the past. However, watching the video was a little difficult because of the fast hand movement.
Nice video. Just a suggestion, if you place your skein of yarn on your left when you are working, will be much easier for you to crochet. You are pulling the yarn around in front of yourself with it on your right side.
She is indeed going very fast. The speed can be adjusted with the gear wheel that's in the upper right corner (on my mobile device). Her voice will sound weird but you'll be able to follow along.
Would you add a border to this in the same way you would a double crochet C2C? Thanks for the tutorial. I much prefer the half double C2C to the double. I feel like it works up faster and the smaller happy are very appealing!
I just wish I could do a C2C! I have started so many times & watch many videos. What is the secret? The turning & where to go gets me & it gets all weird looking on me🤦♀️
I'm wondering where you purchase your Caron Cotton Cakes because Michaels seems to be the only place and it is never in stock online or in stores. Thx for the help and for sharing.
Ok, I made half the blanket so far. Now, do I begin to decrease now and how? Or should I complete another half like it and sew them together at the seam, please. I have a picture.
Well this is a year too late lol...if you are ready to decrease, you need to do the decrease how she explains in the video at the beginning AND end of each row. If you only do a decrease on one end, you will keep going and it will turn into a rectangle.
You can start decreasing once the piece is the width you'd like. So if you want to make a baby blanket that is 36" wide, then once one side gets to 36" wide, you can start decreasing :)
I'm not sure what level of crocheting you are at so I hope this makes sense. You change colors when you are on the last DC of the row. You complete the first part of the DC (yarn over and pull through first two loops). Stop here and grab your new color. Then complete the DC by pulling the new color through the last two loops of the DC. You can either drop the old color and weave it in later or you can crochet over it with the new color and continue with the pattern. It's just like if you run out of yarn and you need to grab more yarn to keep going. There are tutorials on UA-cam showing how to do this. Sometimes seeing it is easier than reading directions. I hope this helps... hopefully I didn't confuse you!!
Hi Maria, Thanks for the tutorial. Question ??? How would you convert these into half double patterns? •In the Round ua-cam.com/video/soI0xtxDDtg/v-deo.html •C2C in Rows ua-cam.com/video/f0Qyn-4zOB0/v-deo.html Sincerely, Liz
That is because all of the video I have seen in the past, most viewer complain about how long it was going. I guess this lady did not want that, so you have to be intermediately to do this or watch the other videos. I suggest The Crochet Crowd How to Do C2C (He is my favorite go to video person) and then come back to this.
you went to a lot of detail on explaining the shapes. but at 9:06 you say and " that is how you get a rectangle". But really you should say and "that is how you get a Square". really need to fix that.

Kept having to turn my TV up to even hear you. Love the stitch. And had to use the captions because it was as if you were talking to yourself

Normally I don't comment on videos but your video is AMAZING. This is the first one that made sense to me! Thank you!

That is so pretty! Also I love the train horn in the background! It reminds me of my grandma who lived near train tracks when I was young.
Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial. I have been looking for C2C that uses my favorite stitch. Yay 💕👏🏻💕
Excellent instruction, great camera work; a joy to watch and participate in. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your tutorial!! I could not get the decreasing down until I watched your video. I appreciate you!! 💜
Straightforward and exactly what I was looking for to make my first project after practicing my stitches! Thank you!
I love the way this looks in this stitch. My new favorite pattern.
Thank you for not being one of those "teachers" that has to go so slow as if everyone is a beginner. I will definitely be using your video to learn this C2C stitch!!!

thanks for this tutorial Maria. I am going to use the HDC for a dishcloth instead of the traditional DC. Again, thanks for sharing:)
Hi niceidea with thehalf double it makes a nice warm blanket thanks for sharing very good teacher xx
Hello
This is so much better than dc c2c.
A million thanks.
Hope you are well.
Great Tutorial! Very easy to follow. Thank you!
AWESOME!! I wouldn't have even thought of this stitch for C2C! Thanks for this tutorial!
You can do it in treble stitch too 😉
How many skeins of that yarn did you use for your blanket? Thanks 😊
Thank you so very much for this C2C tutorial. I had trouble in the past but this was very clear😊😊

Half double has such a pretty design, too, and you have the added option of using the third hole in the bbccm dc
This is 1 pattern I can not get. I have watched several different tutorials and still can not get it right. But thank you for the tutorial, it is definitely one of the better ones I have watched. I like this method for CtoC Half double crochet is my fave 👍🏼
Love this. I just did two C2C blankets, on with double crochet and one granny square stitch. I like the texture of this one.
It seem like that yarn is color pooling perfectly with that stitch.
Thank you 🙏🏻
What size would it be for a toddler size ? Any help be appreciated
Hey i loved this video, can you tell me how smaller a C2c work using HDC can be compared to a DC one please ?
I adjust my tension so I don't have gaps when I do my C2C in double crochet
I really appreciate the C2C tutorial using half double as I've struggled with it in the past. However, watching the video was a little difficult because of the fast hand movement.
you can slow it down in the settings
Actually, that did help considerably. Thanks! :)
This might be random but I love your profile pic cori j
Nice video. Just a suggestion, if you place your skein of yarn on your left when you are working, will be much easier for you to crochet. You are pulling the yarn around in front of yourself with it on your right side.
Love the pattern but this tutorial is not for c2c newbies...too fast through each step and hard to see . Will keep trying
Being a c2c newbie, I agree. Will have to try again perhaps after gaining some experience.
She is indeed going very fast. The speed can be adjusted with the gear wheel that's in the upper right corner (on my mobile device). Her voice will sound weird but you'll be able to follow along.
Very good video! Thank you! ❤
Love this, just have to remember not to ch3 !
Yes and only chaining 5 at the beginning of each row. But I love it
Just now learning C2C. Do you have an actual pattern to follow for a baby blanket? I'm not sure I can wing-it by myself
..!
How do you transition into colors from stitches? It looks flawless
Beautiful. Thank you ❤
How do you know when you start decrease on a blanket odd even or a certain number.
Love your tutorial, thank you
Would you add a border to this in the same way you would a double crochet C2C? Thanks for the tutorial. I much prefer the half double C2C to the double. I feel like it works up faster and the smaller happy are very appealing!
Thank you for a great tutorial!
So I can make it as long as a triangle as I want and then when I want to close it up just decrease correct?
👍🏼
Yes, you have to decrease on both ends of each row.
I just wish I could do a C2C! I have started so many times & watch many videos. What is the secret? The turning & where to go gets me & it gets all weird looking on me🤦♀️
How many balls did you use for the size blanket you showed in video.
Are you aware you yarn under instead of yarn over sometimes?
I'm wondering where you purchase your Caron Cotton Cakes because Michaels seems to be the only place and it is never in stock online or in stores. Thx for the help and for sharing.
I think it is exclusive to Michael's and unfortunately they seem to be a seasonal yarn. I always got mine during the spring/summer months!
Thank you for the reply. I contacted them as well to ask why?
I have seen it at Walmart 😉
So if I wanted to keep this a triangle, I would just keep following the pattern without the decrease right??
Yeah you would
Thank you. Love this
Ok, I made half the blanket so far. Now, do I begin to decrease now and how? Or should I complete another half like it and sew them together at the seam, please. I have a picture.

Very essy to follow thank you
How many balls of yarn did you use for your blanket?
Michaela Hannem I used 6 balls but was not very large!
Thank you
Have you a border for this blanket please
Hello! Sorry I do not have a border for this blanket
Thank you so much for this.
Why do you appear to be working BLO and other times front loop (from the back side)? And skip chains without any clear instruction either.
My first time doing this C2C to make a blanket how do you know when to start the decrease stitch
You can start decreasing once the piece is the width you'd like. So if you want to make a baby blanket that is 36" wide, then once one side gets to 36" wide, you can start decreasing :)
Once the edge is the width you want your blanket, you can start decreasing
Olha, valeu...
Apesar da rapidez pra acompanhar... mas isso se resolve.
Like!

If I were to change the yarn at every new row, how would I do it?
I'm not sure what level of crocheting you are at so I hope this makes sense. You change colors when you are on the last DC of the row. Whitney Diggs Thank you. I already know how to do it now because this was a month ago. But thank you nevertheless 😊
How much yarn we need to make a throw blanket..?please tell the size and how much yarn.
Hi! I used 6 skeins to make a small/baby size blanket. I'm not 100% sure how much you would need for a throw size blanket
@@MariasBlueCrayon 6 skeins of the small size or large size? I believe it comes in two sizes.

I got half done, but then couldn’t follow along on making a square. Instructions are way too fast and skip steps.
You need to clarify that you are doing a Yarn under not Yarn over when you grab the yarn from under the stitch.
you go to fast. but I love everything you do.
That is because all of the video I have seen in the past, most viewer complain about how long it was going. I guess this lady did not want that, so you have to be intermediately to do this or watch the other videos. I suggest The Crochet Crowd How to Do C2C (He is my favorite go to video person) and then come back to this.
On my phone I can touch the video, touch 3 dots on upper right corner, and adjust playback speed
So confused
Not for beginners....way too experienced and fast!!!!
It does not say for beginners. Its just showing this c2c using a hdc.
Change the playback speed
I was always taught to crotchet through two loops ,,,not one ,,different
you went to a lot of detail on explaining the shapes. but at 9:06 you say and " that is how you get a rectangle". But really you should say and "that is how you get a Square". really need to fix that.
I have volume on high and still cant hear what you are saying. Speak up please
You can use a speaker to listen better.
