Wow. So beautiful .
We just rescue an exhausted hedgehog who collapsed at our front door.
We gave it food and shelter whilst making calls to rescue centres.
Eventually it recoved rather well.
Just as we were looking to release it ourselves somewhere safe, we noticed she gave birth !!!!
Judging by this video, the hoglets were older than we thought.
Likely a few days old.
Anyway, they are with a hedgehog rescue carer now.
Dropped them off just now.
I'm so glad they are safe with experts.
Phew .
Frightened the hell out of us.
They grew so fast in short time.
They will all ( 4 or 5 goblets plus mum)
....be releasednear us , when they are fit and ready.
Meanwhile they are in an amazing wildlife garden free to do what they wish.
We will be donating and sending parcels of things they need .
Bless all hedgehogs, they need so much support now.

Maybe people who really hates when babies like these ones get manhandled. It also gives me some anxiety, but I trust the human and the hedgehog mum not to be unnerved by the action or the smell people leave on the babies.

@@gaborszadai1992 Why would it be animal abusing? People have no idea how a two week old hedgehog looks like. It is a good way to make them understand e. g. why they can not choose from baby hedgehogs in person. Go check out my social media sites if you ever see pictures of very small babies.

If your mother hedgehog is killing babies perhaps it’s temperament isn’t the best to be part of a breeding program. If the babies aren’t handled until that old they will not have a good disposition for being a pet hedgehog. You want to pick breeding hedgehogs that have the best temperaments. If they are not use to being handled by humans enough they will not make good pets and they will be also more prone to the behaviors you are describing. You want to buy your hedgehogs from a small home breeder who has a lot of hands on contact with their animals. Avoid purchasing from production breeders

the reason there is only 3 left out of the original 6 is because he touched them too quick so the mother rejected them. you are not supposed to handle baby hedgehogs for the first 2 weeks after they are born!!! this caused the mother to reject them!!

This was a litter of 3 babies originally. The newborn baby photos (4 or 6 on the different pictures) are not of this litter (because I do not touch newborns). You can see the colour of the mothers is also different. Not to touch the babies for 2 weeks is only a rule in the UK, breeders in other countries agree that you should bother the mom and the nest as little as possible BUT you do need to check them, to see if mom has milk, ready to feed the babies, does not hurt them, they are all fine and growing or you have to help. I have been breeding for 9 years, I have a lot of experience with handling babies and I have saved lots of baby lives by not neglecting them for two whole weeks.
