  • I know a lot of you have limited access to tools. So today's video is about working with the one tool you have, the jigsaw. When you only have a jigsaw to make a straight cut, it can be challenging to get an acceptable looking cut. With a few tips, you can make your jigsaw cut straight and clean.

    one important lesson I've learned while doing it, is do not apply pressure. let the jigsaw move freely and slowly or else you'll get a non-perpendicular cut

    • @westfieldartworks8188
      @westfieldartworks8188 2 роки тому +22

      I just learned that lesson the other night. One video I was watching said..." apply pressure " to the jigsaw. NO -- not good advice. I found that if applied just slight pressure or none,...just enough to keep the jigsaw against the guide board, and no more, it gave me the best cut. I totally agree with your post.

    OMG! So glad I just found you! We're getting new carpeting in our older home that we've been steadily upgrading through the year's and we have 6 door's we have to trim. 3 of them are brand new Jeld-Wen hollow core door's that I just painted and we installed and when I heard the word's 'you have to cut them',...I thought I'd be sick lol! I just called my husband telling him I watched your video and we can totally do this and he's even going to buy a new saw etc just so we have no issue's at all so, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I'm going to get my saw horse's now lol!!!!!!!

      I just got into woodworking d/t COVID-19 and did not have a circular saw. Father-in-law gave my husband a bunch of tools a couple of years ago. We bought a miter saw but I can't rip plywood. I'm very excited to learns these tips and tricks! HomeDepot is great but sometimes their cuts are a lil off.

    Thank you so much for this video!! I even replayed and paused to write things down because I'm making a pantry and while I have a circular saw, It's heavy and I'm a small woman and am afraid of it lol. This just alleviated my fear and now I can make my own straight cuts without worry! You totally rock!!

    Hey man, I'm really glad you created this video. Thanks for your reply on your other video about circular saw.I haven't gave up on my jigsaw yet (though I spent ungodly amount of time looking at circ saw vids and how to use it). Months ago I bought a set of extra clean wood cut from Bosch and there's a big difference with the cut quality.
    I plan to use the factory edge of my once I purchase another playboard to act as straight edge for future jigsaw cuts. Finally, your way of getting the guide measurement is fantastic, thanks for the heads up.
    As always, appreciate your time and be well!

    Brilliant video! It seems almost no one talks about cutting a straight line with a jigsaw. I have relied on my jigsaw for a long time for just about everything that needed to be cut because it’s not an intimidating power tool. I was afraid to use a circular saw but recently I got the mini circular saw from Dewalt and I love it. Now I’m always looking for things to saw 🤣 PS, new sub 🙂
