Sometimes I feel like theres just no good answer, its all too expensive and not how I'd want to live. Just so depressing that dental insurance try to work around your missing teeth and that getting implants can cost like a down payment on a car. Everything that's meant to protect or help you is really just meant to exploit you in the end.
Totally agree. I just was told that ONE implant would be $5,000. I am not in a position to pay for that, and my Medicare / Denti-Cal pays absolutely nothing.
Of. Course they offer financing, who can afford those exuberant prices! We obtained a personal loan to pay for a $18,000 implant treatment. Another dentist quoted $25,000! It’s been a year and my husband still dealing with adjustments and not not satisfied with the work.
Ikr they should be wearing ski masks and pointing guns at you when they give you the price. It's the price of a decent used car for one implant. Plus if you need bone grafting. Very expensive.
Did your implant already healed? Are you able to wear the retainer or do you need to wait until the implant process it's completed then get the retainer?
In the long run getting crowns is not great . The natural teeth inside it can still decay and crumble which means more repairs and maintenance and a new set of crowns. Better to save up for an implant.
@@marieantoine l have 10 crowns I am in my fifties always had dental issues even though I go to the dentist every 6 months. Under those crowns I have had root canals, recently I was going to have two crowns replaced because they had been on over 10 yrs and unfortunately the teeth under those crowns can’t be saved. It’s my first row of molars. The dentist said go to oral surgeon get them cut out , bone graft, implants, the teeth in front and back of these teeth are crowns with root canals it’s been over a month since the crowns were drilled off the gaps feel like canyons and it hurts to eat cause the teeth are ground to and below the gum line. I have looked up so many videos about implants partials bridges my gut keeps telling me not to do implants it will be a year until the process is finished, lots of pain to try to eat since it’s my first row of molars, can’t chew on one side, sorry I am rambling.

I have 2 missing teeth and also considered implants until surprisingly my dental assistant suggest that I get braces instead to close the gaps, straighten my teeth and correctly align my jawline in the process. I never had problems with my wisdom teeth so thankfully at 49 I still have them and am able to use them to now push in my top row of missing teeth to close the gaps. All of this cost me @ $6000. I put $2000 down and make $148/ mo payments which is very affordable for me to manage. The whole experience has been great. My ortho dr is AMAZING! I will have worn metal braces for only a total of 2 years by the time they are scheduled to come off in May 2022. This was definitely the right choice for me as opposed to implants. Metal braces or even invisiline (my daughter has those but they cost a bit more) is a great option because you get more bang for your buck. Braces are also beneficial for correctly reconstructing your face shape and jawline as opposed to just getting a new tooth put in.
Nothing gives you a piece of mind more than confidence. Millions of circumstances across the world where people have no teeth at all. Does that changes the soul purpose? I’d rather have missing teeth than weak knees. We must let the insecurities go!
I have not had teeth since February. I am embarrassed not having any. Things will get better. But it is going to be long time. So I understand exactly how these people feel.
I had two teeth pulled for my ortho treatment. One was a lower front tooth pulled due to lack of space in the arch and the other was a molar that had quite a history of damage and decay. The orthodontist closed the space up front and have been maintaining space for a future implant for the molar.
I'm currently wearing a "flipper" for my two missing front teeth. It's a temporary fix while my mouth heals. I'm scheduled for a bone graph, then implants. Thank you for this valuable video.
I have missing teeth (1 upper left quadrant and 1 lower right quadrant). My dentist closing the gaps by braces because I have wisdom teeth to fill them up.
My daughter was congenitally missing both of her lateral incisor baby teeth. She was also missing one of her adult lateral incisors and had on palatal impacted canine tooth. She had braces and the oral surgeon did the exposure and the orthodontist used to chain to guide the canine in. She did not have any problems with any of that. She completed or orthodonic treatment and now she just has a space where her left lateral incisor should be.Our dentist is going to do something to fill the space while she finishes growing. He said she can get an implant once she is fully grown. I watched this video to learn more about what can be done because our dentist hasn't shared his specific plan yet. She had some other dental work that needed to be done. She has to see an endodontist for one of her teeth. Then when we go back to her regular dentist for a crown he is also going to address her space.
This video was enlightening. I recently had a bridge done but you explained the implant process in ways I hadn’t heard of before and might have decided to go that route instead.
Husband just got one. Took 9 months, many visits, and costs $5,200. He is 80! My brother got midway in process, was on his 2nd bond grat procedure and they drilled through his sinus, he got a bad infection and lots of pain and cheek swelling. He thinks he will cancel the implant now not trusting it.
@@bluesky7288 Oh dear Lord, I’m sorry to hear that! I did forget the time involved with waiting for things to heal before actually getting the implant and I’m a diabetic and will therefore take longer to heal. Ouch, too expensive!
Bridges are the best alternative, Implants are not healthy, any medal interfering with the body can cause damage and toxin build up. Watch the documentary “Root Cause” and you will have a total different perspective. And like the lady mentioned above implanting is expensive, hence why they always recommend it, bc it’s all about money and less about our health.
This is so tough. I have crowns on almost all my teeth due to pain and clenching. I’ve now lost 2 teeth one on top near the front and one in back. Both have had root canals so there is still a piece there. But because they are on top and bottom, implant is basically my only choice since all the teeth around are already crowned. But my TMD has gotten worse and I clench worse now with shifting teeth. The one near the front is visible so I don’t smile open mouthed anymore. My teeth and smile were my pride and joy now not so much. Since I’m 64 and retired my dental coverage is shit nothing is covered anymore. It makes me very sad.
Hey..i am 25.. i had baby tooth.. Dr removed it . And placed 3 teeth bridge there.. within one yr it started painig... I feel sad.. helpless..dr did Root canal..but it is still paining.. Dr doesn't understand wts wrong in my case.
I've seen so many failed dental implants and bridges. I will never do it. It's a waste of money, pain and time! Either get a removable or dentures when the time comes, and no I have not yet personally experienced either but I've had enough (unnecessary) root canals, tooth extractions and crowns to know what I do not want. Many, not all dentist are just in it for the money and/or experience to add to a resume. Best of wishes
I have to agree. I have a bunch of missing molars & my mouth is like a left over building site which started with the TERRIBLE dental care you get in the UK. I have spent so much time, discomfort & money in my 58 years that I am fed up with wasting money on my teeth. The least few times I had a toothache & simply told the dentist to yank it out. One day I will be faced with sticking my food in a blender but until then I have had enough of it...
And if we were made to cut out ALL sugars when we were young to have good teeth health by ALL adults we would be much better off now. Jordan Peterson said he had Gingivitis for 30 years, he went carnivore for mental and physical health issues and his dentist for the first time told him his Gingivitis was gone,,,, after 30 years of it. The SAD(Standard American Diet) diet is the problem.... Sugar is candy for tooth decay and cancer and should be put on some drug control list. Homosapien Sapiens had better teeth than we do.
Dentist recommended a bridge for my missing back molar. Orthodontist said I have enough back teeth that she could close that space so I wouldn't need a bridge. I was happy when she said that. I didn't want the adjacent healthy teeth to be shaved down for the bridge. My ortho treatment is almost done and the space is practically closed. I feel like a dodged a bullet.
I believe titanium implants have their place. However unfortunately dentist often do not adequately inform patients about one of the shortcomings of this method restoring a dental arch and preventing bone loss. This shortcoming exists because titanium implants are not attached to alveolar bone in the same way that normal roots are attached. Titanium implants are attached by osseointegration. Bone grows into the metal, fusing with the metal. Normal roots are attached via soft tissue called peridontal ligaments. Ligaments grow into the bone, as well as into the tooth, attaching the tooth to the bone. These enable the tooth to do 2 things that osseointegrated titanium cannot. (1) The soft ligaments function as a shock absorber. (2) They are part of a system that allow the alveolar bone to remodel around the tooth, should force be applied to the tooth. Due to the ability of the bone to remodel,, as the teeth wear, and as the person ages and age works on their facial bones, teeth can subtly change their position relative to each other, thus preserving a good bite. Orthodontia takes advantage of this ability of bones to remodel around teeth, in response to forces on the teeth. With a titanium implant however, bone cannot remodel around it as force is applied to the tooth. Thus should the position of an implant, with age, become less than ideal, it cannot be moved into a better position using orthodontia. Their position is so rigidly fixed, that orthodontists sometimes use implants to help stabilize a bite, around it, moving all the other natural teeth, relative to the fixed position of the implant. The word oseointegration is sort of a euphemism for ankylosed. Osseointegration of titanium has its use, but it is not a good thing in its entirety.
Please do a part 2 of this cause I'll have to get an implant or something after my braces treatment is over cause i do have a missing tooth. But I really wanna know how that goes, does it cause pain cause that metal portion going inside that you showed in the video is actually scaring me !!
Get the implant. I just had one put in and it hurt for 1 day and then stopped hurting. The dentist gave me some strong pain pills that I took for only 1 day. I can't even tell it is in. After a few weeks he glued a ceramic tooth to the post. It looks and feels like the original tooth with No pain!!!
The most popular is the implant but also the most expensive. If only dentists don't charge you an arm and a leg then it would be more accessible to the general public.
Denistry has become so expensive it’s out of the reach of the average person, even with dental insurance beyond most people’s reach. Since dental health is such a vital part of overall health, when is it going to be covered by health insurance? The money saved in preserving health of the population would reduce overall health care expenses. Why can’t we understand this?
It’s so hard mentally /emotionally. I’m 24 and need most my molars out from ongoing GI issues for 20 years. I’m allergic to medal so can’t get implants.
i removed mine too and it's so uncomfortable to just eat (to the point where i just skip meals sometimes) & it definitely affects us mentally/ emotionally! 😞
It depends on your Dental insurance. I have very good insurance. I’ve had 3 implants. Dental ins pays around 60% of total bill. I tried a bridge. It was awful.
"Teeth like to touch" so they will start shifting once there's a gap. The opposing tooth will "super errupt" or grow towards the gap, throwing off your bite. The adjacent teeth will slowly shift towards each other and the bone that the tooth used to utilize will start to resorb and if you lose enough teeth, your face will lose vertical dimention. That gap creates extra space for food and bacteria to build, increasing the risk of decqy to its neighbor teeth. The bone loss will over time will expose the soft dentin roots of surrounding teeth and you can develop abfraction lesions, which are very destructive to the longevity of your teeth
@@fardan9709 every situation presents different challenges but technology is progressing and we can grow your bone from your own cells, we can lift sinuses to create room for implants, or we can do a simple bone graft OR we can fit you with a full or partial denture... the denture won't help w the bone resorption, but they are esthetic and functional.

Yes to a second video! I have a daughter that is missing both front side teeth (adult lateral incisors). She was born without them. I was told by her dentist that either we can move her back teeth to close the gap, then file the teeth to make it look like normal front teeth. Or do implants. The one option is okay, but it does look a little off on people’s smiles, and the implant option can be a bit pricey. (Is there a recommended age before you do implants?) She’s young, only 8 now, but trying to learn what our options are and to start saving up now! 😬
Hi I was born with the same teeth missing and I've been in braces now for a year. I was given the same options and decided to open the gap for implants. My sister had the same case years ago and she decided to move her canines forward and file them to close the gap. I think the implant option is the best as my sister has a very narrow smile now and is looking to get more work done to her teeth as she's not happy with her smile anymore. I have fake teeth on the braces to cover the gaps for now and I couldn't be happier with how my smile is looking. I would definitely go for the implant option, I think it's the best in the long run.
I am missing my adult upper laterals as well. I did canine sub. I think it looks ok, on me, but it may be because I have small teeth (in general). Having an experienced orthodontist, who feels confident (about either option) would be important. An orthodontist who is willing to go over the pros and cons of both with you, for her individual case. Possibly do a mock up of each option too? Either digitally and/or molds? If that is an option...I don't know for sure if they would do that...it is a lot of work. But pre-planning seems important. Does she have large or small teeth? Any over jet? Other tooth sizes and how the occlusion/bite and arches would fit together and function. Function, aesthetics (looks), time and cost. The different options are better for different people. So....all those factors, plus a little preference as well (within realistic reason). Will help you decide. It's great you are considering all options, to help figure out what is best for her individual case. If you choose implants...ask to see the dentist's implant portfolio. So you can see their work, if possible.
Huh? Most _everyone_ is born - without any teeth at all! And as adults we usually gain 4 lateral incisors, not 2. 2 in the maxilla and 2 in the mandible.
@@soilmanted the teeth aren't there to come in. I took my daughter to the dentist and they told me that those Adult teeth aren't there to come through, you can see them missing in the X-ray. I was so shocked and saddened by it. I just stared at the x-rays and kept asking questions because I couldn't wrap my mind around it. For her, it's two front bottom teeth.
just stumbled across your channel and in addition to the informative advice you provide, your whole vibe is very positive and approachable. wish more dentists and orthodontists or just people generally were like you! it's good energy and makes you a pleasure to watch. i have one back molar missing after removal due to the tooth falling apart after procedures of root canal, fillings and then crown. i know that implant is probably the primary option for me although i haven't gotten it addressed because i don't like the idea of fake objects implanted in my jaw. i've just left it as is. i went in to the dentist's office to get something unrelated done - a filling - and she explained that the top molar hadn't "dropped down" into the empty space where the molar used to be because one of my other bottom teeth was basically blocking it from doing so.
Curious about the impact of missing teeth on mucus or excessive phlegm production. No matter how slowly or carefully a person with missing teeth chews, couldn’t improperly chewed bits of food still cause irritation leading to persistent oral mucus, phlegm, coughing, etc
I lost all of my teeth due to 11years of Morphine. I got dentures a year ago and sadly due to bone loss they will not stay in my mouth. I've tried it all with no success. Wished I could afford implants, but I'm on disability.
@@boldandcourageous8314 Yes Bold and Courageous, I am quite certain there are some very good dentists all over Mexico. whether they cater to the local populus or toristas. Likewise I am reasonably certain there are some mediocre dentists, and any number of rather unreliable dentists - just like in as the US. And yes the cost is significantly less. There are some difficulties though, in getting Mexican dental care. By the way I have had hernia surgery in Canada, paying about 1/3 of what I would have paid in the US, for a more experienced surgeon. But heading back south - I'll have some difficulties getting Mexican dentistry. There is considerable expense travelling to Mexico from Western North Carolina US and staying in hotels on the way. My Spanish is miniscule. I know the numerals from cero to nueve, and important phrases like tortillas, friholes, and bano. Not a lot more. Yes I know many dentists cater to English-speaking patients. What do you think, compared to dentists who cater to the local people, do they cost mas o menos? And how do I distinguish between the better dentists and the worser dentists. I have trouble doing this in the US. I spent some time in my 20's as a dental technician and latger as a inventory clerk and accounts payable clerk for a group dental practice. I have far more understanding of what dentistry is about than the average patient. Yet when I move into new town, it takes me years of trial and error before I find a dentist whom I can trust. Ask patients? No no no! Most people have no conception of the quality of dentistry they have been getting. Dentists know who the other dentists are, in their area, that do good work. Dental hygienists know. Working dental technicians know. Dental assistants who have a lot of exprience figure it out. Most patients have no idea. They often think they know, but that doesn't mean they actually know

Thank you, this is very helpful as I’m getting my braces in less than a month and I am missing my top lateral incisors. Once I’ve finished, I’m going to have a retainer at first, with fake teeth, and then a bridge. Once I am an adult, I will choose if I want to get an implant. I've had two and the orthodontists was excellent! My dentist sent me to him. I was very fearful, but he put me at ease. Not unbearably painful at all. Didn't even take the pain pills I was given. Wish I could afford all of them to be done.
The cost of dental care is ridiculous! I have had jaw surgery, braces, and 1 dental implant. The dental implant cost about 5500 - for 1 tooth! I find dentists and orthos encourage implants but insurance companies come up with every reason not to cover them.
@@nat29sal sorry Natalie, I meant to type in what 'currency', my bad I must have mis-typed it but I guess it's US dollars, if so it's totally crazy indeed! thanks for replying and best regards from London xx
You mentioned orthodontics to create space for an implant - can you elaborate on this? When during orthodontic treatment can different phases of implant can be done? Bone graft during braces, wait until the end, etc?
I had several successful implants and very satisfactory. I needed a new implant and had the initial part done, but due to asthma had to go in hospital and received massive doses of steroids, which combined with infection caused me to lose the implant and a lot of bone. In fact, two adjoining teeth in front were lost, leaving me a three tooth gap right in front and now not sufficient bone to support implants. One option is a bridge, but cost is $8,000.00 for a bridge and no assurance it will last; other option is to remove 2 additional teeth and do implant bridge, but that’s $20,000.00. Just wearing the temporary dentures I was given lets me know so uncomfortable I would not wear it. At 76 I don’t know how I can afford either good option. My only thought is that since it happened due to medical problem, is there any way medical insurance could be applicable. Dental insurance payments so minimum almost unhelpful. What about the option of having work done at a Dental School? Is that a possibility that might work?
I was gonna get a bridge because I just didn’t wanna go through years of ortho but I ended up going with braces. Braces are a pain in the ass but they’re worth it in the long run to have all of your real healthy teeth. I’m five months in and my teeth are unrecognizable. They’re so straight and beautiful already and I’m so happy! Can’t wait to get them off!
Hey I have a missing canine. Should I just go with moving all the teeth from the back to the front to cover the gap with braces? I am worried about the implant and bridges. Also worried that braces might make my teeth week as they dissolve jawbone
Dentist --- am thinking about an implant but I'm doing extensive research on metal sensitivity first as I watched the horror videos on UA-cam of how some patients have been incredibly sick after getting them. Yes, it might be rare but you could still be that person. There is a lot of buzz about this subject in dentistry at the minute. Do you have any opinions or advice?

one stupid orthodontist pulled out my upper first premolars and left me with big gaps that she wasn't able to close, I'm currently on a second treatment with another orthodontist who will hopefully close all of the remaining gaps.
hey I had to get my canine removed because I had impacted teeth on the right side. Should I get braces to move all of the teeth from the back to front ? Or will that make the teeth week and also not line up correctly with the teeth below?
Hi, I went to the dentist today thinking that I would have two fillings, two extractions, and order two implants (on opposite sides in the back) but he strongly recommended I do a traditional bridge on both sides and dismissed the implant idea. I think it is because he can do the bridges in house but not the implants. The biggest red flag for me is that when I asked him how long the bridge would last, he said that it was would never need to be replaced. Based on my research, that’s not true and I don’t see the point in damaging the other two teeth on the sides of one being extracted. What do you think?
Yeah I’m in the same situation as you but the dentist told me it’s best to just get an implant I have to just go through the process for 3 to 6 months until they can replace my tooth with an implant it’s just a cost is going be a lot more but they told me the implants is going last longer than a bridge and then it’s going to damage the other two because they have to shave it which is the tooth I have it’s connected to the front teeth and the canine tooth So I told him I’m going to get an implant it’s just a process it’s going be annoying with a missing tooth and having a retainer on
I have a missing front adult tooth that was treated with braces, you don't really notice it unless your looking at me straight now or I've told you. This was an interesting video, thanks for sharing!!
I have a question about implants . How does it feel when you are in cold areas and hot areas ? Does the titanium affect the hot and cold through the bone ? The same feeling when you have a steeel in some part of body in the bone .? .
I'm interested in what are downsides to just leave the opening. I have two molar spaces (adjacent)for several years. No problems. I chew on the opposite side. Enjoyed your video!!
If it’s the bottom molar missing, then the upper, will slowly come down searching for that missing bottom molar. In my case I waited too long to get my implant, and now there’s no space for the implant to fit, because the upper molar is hanging too low. I have braces now to pull those upper molars back up, as well as close up those black triangles, and straighten bottom teeth. So I can eventually get an implant in the bottom.
im getting braces soon but in order to do that they have to take a molar teeth out since it’s a baby teeth also got told that no teeth is gonna come out from there. so im gonna have no teeth there but they had told me that the braces can close the gap .
I went to Clear Choice for a single molar implant. They do all the work in house and I was told the prices are not as bad. It was like going in to a car dealership. Oh, and the cost for a single implant is $6500! I live on SSI and a small pension. No way. Thx USA for taking care of your seniors.
the dentistry is so far behind compared to other areas like medicine etc. There should be better options like regrowing teeth for missing teeth etc. There would be nothing better than having a new natural tooth replacing a damaged one , it could be costly but so is an implant that might have issues in the future and become a nightmare to take it off if needed.
So what procedure did you use? I had to get my canine removed because I had impacted teeth on the right side. Should I get braces to move all of the teeth from the back to front ? Or will that make the teeth week and also not line up correctly with the teeth below?
I wasn't able to move my impacted tooth down because of how it was laying sideways in my mouth. So I have a missing tooth that I will be fixing with an implant
The orthodontist gave my son a flipper (retainer with fake teeth) for his two missing teeth. He plans on keeping it instead of getting a bridge or implants. It's way cheaper than any of the other ways.
I am going to have to get a flipper due to the fact that my other teeth aren’t strong enough to even attach it to them and I have yet to find out just how bad it’s gotten. This is all a result of using a sublingual medication for years! I’m on disability for epilepsy so already strapped for money! So sad for everyone stuck in this position. Dentists think it’s just a simple answer to get implants but damn, I’m sorry but we all don’t have that kind of money! ONE can easily be around $2,000! I’m talking my entire mouth at this point!!! So looking like dentures at 45 and all due to a damn medication I was told was safe!
Expense is an issue for me. Where can I get something done that won't cost me an arm and a leg.i am missing a 1tooth in the upper right quadrant and in the same quadrant my front tooth is on a 20 degree angle. Maybe I can get both done at the same time? Any recommendations?
I just had 2 baby teeth extracted and they are bottom molars. I am trying to do my research about implants. I was sure I was ready to get them and now I'm terrified. I have actually shed a lot of tears over this because I'm afraid I made the wrong decision and feel like the worst will happen to me. So finding positive videos has been helpful. I definitely don't want to live the rest of my life missing these teeth. It is much harder to eat like I used to and it is unsettling.
Most dentist opt for implants for everyone. They're very expensive...5K+ each, always need bone grafting, months with a flipper and no insurance covers the procedure. You can buy a small house or agree with them.
I got a bridge recently and its been awesome. I was going get an implant but the tooth beside my missing tooth was damaged. So the bridge was the best option. Killed two birds with one stone.

What about autogenous tooth transplant? Why isn't that an option. It has a very high success rate. You're using your own wisdom tooth ( instead of metal screws) to replace missing first and second molar.
Is it safe for tooth extractions during pregnancy? . I got two pulled them I was told by many that my dentist should not have done that. I was grateful to be honest as they were PAINFUL, but now I’ve gaps. As a child\teenager I had braces for the most time. Is it too late for me to get dentures\implants?
My second to the last molar was extracted, but my wisdom tooth grew healthily. Can that wisdom tooth be used to replace that missing tooth and close the gap using braces?
I have one whole molar tooth gone and the tooth next to it is about 60% gone too but luckily they never give me any pain. I know I need to get it fixed ASAP because the cracked tooth irritates my tounge. I'm scared to get implants tho, I'm scared of the dentists period 😅
Question Dr: if orthodontics are not a good option to fix missing teeth, why do orthos require that teeth be removed for braces? Also, my orthos prescribed bands last month but didnt give me any when I just went to my recent appointment, is this normal?
I'm in the same boat. My orthodontist had me pull two perfectly good teeth. If he tells me I'll need more work to correct a problem they caused I will be more than upset.
hey I had to get my canine removed because I had impacted teeth on the right side. Should I get braces to move all of the teeth from the back to front ? Or will that make the teeth week and also not line up correctly with the teeth below?
BOTTOM LINE: most Americans cannot afford the rapaciously expensive cost of teeth replacement options, which is why you see so many people missing teeth! The cost is ridiculous, which is why so many dentists today drive Benzes, BMW's, Maserati's, etc.
This is excellent information because I'm saving to pay for my braces out of pocket. However I've had a missing upper left molar for years (about 18) and I doubt there is adequate enough bone in the space. What are the best options in that case? I'm also glad I didn't listen to the dentist that attempted to persuade me into braces after my tooth fracture because I would have hated to have all my upper teeth on the left. Always enjoy and look forward to more of your content. Keep it up.
I t seems like implants are the best option. But...During the procedure to place a dental implant in the jaw, some of the nearby anatomic structures are sometimes injured. This includes perforation of the maxillary sinus, inferior border, lingual plate, labial plate, inferior alveolar canal, or gingiva If the maxillary sinus cavity is perforated by the implant, for example, this can lead to sinus problems and infections in the area in the future. Other Complications and Risks There are also some other complications and risks linked to dental implants such as: Nerve injury: this causes pain, numbness or paresthesia in the surrounding tissues (e.g. teeth, gums, lips or chin) Tissue necrosis: the cells in the flap of tissue around the implant may die in approximately 1 in 20 cases. Gingival recession: the gingiva next to the dental implant may recede to expose the metal abutment that holds the prosthetic in place. Dehiscence: this failure of wound healing requires bone grafting Excessive bleeding Hyperplasia
Yes! If the tooth is not impacted, the tooth has to surface with no complications and you must have an X-ray to rule out inner decay 👍🏼 my dentist is using my wisdom to replace my missing tooth at the top right. I need two Implants for lower, it’s saved me the cost of 3 implants 👍🏼
I lost a crown from a molar and it was going to cost £800 to have it replaced! Had the whole tooth removed instead but still cost me £200. Dentist insisted on giving me a quote for an implant, £2000. Just learnt to chew on the other side for a while!
Hi, thank you for your very useful and informative videos! I had a missing tooth due to an extraction, so I initially thought I would have an implant. Then I changed my mind and decided to put on braces, as my teeth are crooked and I will avoid the implant, but I had to extract other 3 teeth. Fingers crossed!
bruh using brace to close the gap from missing teeth is bad cause the jawbone will weaken cause there no teeth there😭 and you cant have implants in the future cause the jawbone is already fused☹️
thanks for the video! im training as a dental assistant and we were talking about implants tonight. im hoping to get into an ortho office when i start!
Partial dentures aren’t the best but many prefer them because doesn’t require surgery (implants) sometimes implants, crowns and dental materials causes allergies
Yes , please explain more by making the video. What I learned about the process and adding crowns to two good teeth to hold the missing tooth in place is not conducive, because if either of the crowned teeth have a issue- well there goes the crowns and money down the drain. Sorry I got off track. How would one floss under a tooth cemented in by two crowned teeth if there’s no gap between the two crowned teeth? Thank for this video .
Yes there expensive & yeah they do hurt when getting one my mother has one . She’s happy with the results so far but the cost is a lot especially if insurance doesn’t help.
I mean everything you said in this video says nothing is good in the long term. I need five teeth for placed for example, my front top five, my dentist wants to charge me $10,000 for a bridge implant whatever. But my quandary is if you really believe there's nothing good long-term, then what's the solution? Because you didn't offer a solution in place of a bridge or partial fixed denture, I'm 31 years old and in the last few years my teeth have gotten very brittle and I need to get my five front upper teeth replaced. And if a bridge or partial fixed denture isn't good long-term, then what is? And I'm asking you this and not my dentist because honestly I feel like my dentist and every dentist I've ever met is just trying to get money out of me never trying to actually point me in a proper direction. I'm not asking you to diagnose me or give me 100% treatment plan, I'm really just wondering if nothing is good long-term to replace a bunch of teeth, then what really is and what is your solution?
Thank for your explanation. When I was in my early 20s, I had 2 premolars (one each side on the bottom) and throughout the years, my teeth have been spacing out. My dentist told me that I had to get braces to fix the spaces and then get the implants. So, you are saying that I can get the implants and then the spacing will work itself out?
Great video thanks for explaining everything so detailed. I still don't know if I should get a implant or a bridge! I'm missing one tooth my right upper "fang" . Plus my tooth never came out so it's still up in my gums so I need that extraction as well. What's your professional opinion !?
Some of my teeth are missing because my mom beat on me while growing up and it sucks because getting implants is too expensive I've never felt comfortable smiling
Im sorry you went throught that. I feel you on the transplant. How is your teeth been doing through out the years of missing teeth ? Have it been shifting or having any bone loss?
I have a fixed partial denture/crowned tooth top 2nd tooth on the right crowned to the 3rd tooth from front. This was after a major abscess from a filling in my early 20s. I’m now in my mid 40s and it’s still holding strong even after 7 months of teeth alignment to straighten crocked teeth. It’s a great match to my natural teeth and I almost forget I have it! It has warn down on the corner from night time grinding but I have a night time retainer now to help prevent further grinding. I guess I feel lucky I’m int the UK were I can see a nhs dentist for treatment at minimal cost.
Why do dentists still say your teeth will shift? I have a missing back tooth from 1996 and all of my other teeth are still in the same place. Nothing moved.
I supposedly have 6 teeth missing, never grew from after my milk teeth fell out, I’m not sure how these options would help me 😂 I think I’ll have crooked teeth for the rest of my life
edit: My case is exactly like 5:48. My orthodontist closed the gap. So when I smile my molar tooth is peeking out on the side😂. Oh, and I had to use elastics for 1 1/2 year. Already midlined last Nov.
Do you feel like your teeth has been weaker since the whole frame of teeth was shifted. Also they don't just shift the back teeth? They also shift the front teeth but then doens't that affect the symmetry?
@@aishwaryadeep8815 I really can't feel any different, prolly got used to it, and no they only tried to shift my upper in midline. So my lower is hella crooked atm.
I have a missing lower incisor and the gap is minor, i am closing the gap with braces without an implant? Will it look bad? Will it affect my biting or are there any side affects?
Sometimes I feel like theres just no good answer, its all too expensive and not how I'd want to live. Just so depressing that dental insurance try to work around your missing teeth and that getting implants can cost like a down payment on a car. Everything that's meant to protect or help you is really just meant to exploit you in the end.
@Neil Usher my thoughts exactly!
😥
I agree :( everything’s a business
Yeah. I have several missing teeth and the estimated cost of fixing it equals to a brand new Renault Logan or Hyundai Accent
Look at costs overseas... Mexico, the Philippines, Turkey...
Why can't we freaking regrow a tooth? REGROW A TOOTH. Remove one tooth and regrow another one in the same spot. WTF?

Exactly, sharks can.
The pricing for implants--and dental care in general--is arbitrary and predatory. Hard to find a dentist to trust.
Totally agree. I just was told that ONE implant would be $5,000. I am not in a position to pay for that, and my Medicare / Denti-Cal pays absolutely nothing.
Those are 2 different issues
@@iadorenewyork1 They offer financing.
I just got my braces removed a month ago and am now prepping for an implant in Dec. What good timing for this video!
Did your implant already healed? Are you able to wear the retainer or do you need to wait until the implant process it's completed then get the retainer?
did the implant hurt?
Hey how'd go
The issue with the implant is the cost. I have 1 missing tooth but I hate the thought of getting crowns on two perfectly good teeth.
You had missing molar teeth?
Nothing gives you a piece of mind more than confidence. Millions of circumstances across the world where people have no teeth at all. Does that changes the soul purpose? I’d rather have missing teeth than weak knees. We must let the insecurities go!
If confidence is so important, why would you rather have missing teeth?
I have not had teeth since February. I am embarrassed not having any. Things will get better. But it is going to be long time. So I understand exactly how these people feel.
I had two teeth pulled for my ortho treatment. One was a lower front tooth pulled due to lack of space in the arch and the other was a molar that had quite a history of damage and decay. The orthodontist closed the space up front and have been maintaining space for a future implant for the molar.

I have missing teeth (1 upper left quadrant and 1 lower right quadrant). My dentist closing the gaps by braces because I have wisdom teeth to fill them up.
my doctor recommended me braces too.. my parents said no bc it's kinda expensive.. now my missing teeth hurt when it's touched by food😕
Wait what tooth did you get extracted ? I’ve been crying for so long thinking about how could my premolar(#14) gap could close
So did yours worked?
I got my canine extracted in one side in the upper jaw so what should I do
My daughter was congenitally missing both of her lateral incisor baby teeth.

Yah crown is best but I know this v late I am 47 but also have bons issue so Dr recommended crown is not safe for me if I lost my all teeths ☹️😢
What molar you missing..first molar or second molar?
I'm having two implants. One on each side. So I'm having one done at a time. That way I can eat on one side while the other side heals.

If only dentists don't charge you an arm and a leg then it would be more accessible to the general public.
the politics are idiots
Will my face look sunken due to extractions? Please make a video on that topic.

It depends on your Dental insurance. I have very good insurance. I’ve had 3 implants. Dental ins pays around 60% of total bill. I tried a bridge. It was awful.
Are you insured by a company that you can just buy? Or is it only offered by like your employer?
Yes I want to hear about the side effects of missing teeth even though I kind of already know.
@@shaskins15 do you have any idea to fix the jaw back?

There are some difficulties though, in getting Mexican dental care. For implants for whole mouth, does a person need to be sedated and hospitalized? How long does it take?
You would have to be a millionaire
Thank you, this is very helpful as I’m getting my braces in less than a month and I am missing my top lateral incisors. Once I’ve finished, I’m going to have a retainer at first, with fake teeth, and then a bridge. Once I am an adult, I will choose if I want to get an implant. (Edit: the bridge I will get is a Maryland bridge I think so it won’t be very intrusive)
Im missing the same ones too! My dentists don't know why tho
Same here, missing lateral incisors. .. It's heredetary.. When Younger, I had braces. Used a removable denture for many years.. 5 months ago got implants. Next month they'll be putting the crowns. Here where I live at, it's a fraction of the cost of implants compared to the price in the US.
I’ve heard loads of horror stories about implants. One of my friends could only eat liquid foods for 3 months due to the pain of the implants that was inflicted on her. Awful
Yes same here; I have heard bad stories.
I've had two and the orthodontists was excellent! My dentist sent me to him. I was very fearful, but he put me at ease. Not unbearably painful at all. Didn't even take the pain pills I was given. Wish I could afford all of them to be done.
You talk too fast. Please slow down.
As much as I want to do this I don’t have the money for it and getting “payments” cost so much more with interest in the long run 😭
We should have a Hunger Games every year and put some dentist guilty of dental malpractice on it.
The cost of dental care is ridiculous! I have had jaw surgery, braces, and 1 dental implant. The dental implant cost about 5500 - for 1 tooth! I find dentists and orthos encourage implants but insurance companies come up with every reason not to cover them.
in what currently is this figure 5500 if you don't mind me asking please?

That’s amazing ! So glad to hear =]
Hey I have a missing canine. Should I just go with moving all the teeth from the back to the front to cover the gap with braces? I am worried about the implant and bridges. Also worried that braces might make my teeth week as they dissolve jawbone
I have a failed dental implant part that sucks I can’t get my money back for it because not my fault that it wouldn’t hold and it’s not cheap

Get the implant. I just had one put in and it hurt for 1 day and then stopped hurting. The dentist gave me some strong pain pills that I took for only 1 day. I can't even tell it is in. After a few weeks he glued a ceramic tooth to the post. It looks and feels like the original tooth with No pain!!!
one stupid orthodontist pulled out my upper first premolars and left me with big gaps that she wasn't able to close, I'm currently on a second treatment with another orthodontist who will hopefully close all of the remaining gaps.
hey I had to get my canine removed because I had impacted teeth on the right side. Should I get braces to move all of the teeth from the back to front ? Or will that make the teeth week and also not line up correctly with the teeth below?
They also have flex partials which is more of a rubber base instead of metal and they comfortable
Definitely true 👍 more likely trying to do procedure in house. Be best to go with implants as I need 2 myself going with procedures soon .
Implants are not always the answer. And maybe you were not a candidate for implants. Implants are more invasive.
@@kgfairgo5559 Lol. I was a great candidate. I have them in now.
i really dont like dentist who only think about their income and not really caring about their patient.
Yeah I’m in the same situation as you but the dentist told me it’s best to just get an implant I have to just go through the process for 3 to 6 months until they can replace my tooth with an implant it’s just a cost is going be a lot more but they told me the implants is going last longer than a bridge and then it’s going to damage the other two because they have to shave it which is the tooth I have it’s connected to the front teeth and the canine tooth So I told him I’m going to get an implant it’s just a process it’s going be annoying with a missing tooth and having a retainer on
Do you have to get bone graft after extraction?

It's so expensive to replace...
I totally agree! If only that was possible
Got a tooth removed. Kept it as is, no implant or anything else. So far so good.
Which one tooth ?
My orthodontist told me it isn't feasible to close only one space, because the last tooth won't have a tooth underneath it and will begin to erupt.

So I have a missing tooth that I will be fixing with an implant
impacted teeth are the best. I lost one teeth and this impacted teeth occupy that empty space. Thank God I never removed it.
How many years the implant will last for?

Thanks Dr. Greg! Are implants painful and expensive? 😬

What happen when patient have alergy to the implant ?
My second to the last molar was extracted, but my wisdom tooth grew healthily. Can that wisdom tooth be used to replace that missing tooth and close the gap using braces?
That’s what I was thinking
Yes, that’s exactly what my ortho is doing now. The space is almost closed you can’t even tell. Make sure you have a great orthodontist though.
Yes exactly!! Now I confused on why my orthodontist had me remove a tooth before putting braces on
hey I had to get my canine removed because I had impacted teeth on the right side.
Keep it up.
I have the same situation what is your current position and time of missed molar tooth. ? And how long you have the empty space of missed tooth?
I t seems like implants are the best option. But...During the procedure to place a dental implant in the jaw, some of the nearby anatomic structures are sometimes injured. This includes perforation of the maxillary sinus, inferior border, lingual plate, labial plate, inferior alveolar canal, or gingiva
If the maxillary sinus cavity is perforated by the implant, for example, this can lead to sinus problems and infections in the area in the future.
Other Complications and Risks
There are also some other complications and risks linked to dental implants such as:
Nerve injury: this causes pain, numbness or paresthesia in the surrounding tissues (e.g. teeth, gums, lips or chin)
Tissue necrosis: the cells in the flap of tissue around the implant may die in approximately 1 in 20 cases.
Gingival recession: the gingiva next to the dental implant may recede to expose the metal abutment that holds the prosthetic in place.
Dehiscence: this failure of wound healing requires bone grafting
Excessive bleeding
Hyperplasia
Fuck this is scary 😖😖😖 I wanna get an implant because my smile is ugly because of missing teeth

thanks for the video! im training as a dental assistant and we were talking about implants tonight. im hoping to get into an ortho office when i start!
Yes I would love to see part 2!Are implants expensive also does it hurt?
Dentures would be the best option. If your teeth are that bad, they aren't going to last long anyways.
