- Tucked away up north of Auckland in Matakana Wine Region is a great boutique vineyard called Brick Bay that also has a glasshouse restaurant as well as a contemporary outdoor sculpture trail. The sculptures are set in a fantastic natural environment of native bush and tranquil waterlily ponds.
It's advisable to make a booking for the restaurant as it can get quite busy and if you dine in, you get a discount on doing the sculpture walk. Alternatively, you can also just do the sculpture trail on its own.

Noticed Peter put the restaurant before the walk in the intro! Haha! Ok so yet another location I haven't been to! Wow the glasshouse restaurant how cool is that! Right over the water! Yeah those sculptures look really cool! Oh haha Yen was hilarious when she rung those bells, that first one especially! Yeah some really cool stuff there! Another cool job on this!

It was busy last Saturday when we came for a visit. Probably because of Matakana Flea Market

Good to see you two made it over to Snells Beach. It's an awesome spot,we worked out there 7 years ago,and were always sneaking off down there instead of working - a great little spot all along the beach front

Those fries looked amazing! This video was very calming and fun to watch the only thing that threw me off was the pond, living in Florida I kept expecting to see gators in the pond it was hard for me to get my head around that you guys don't have any gators, or snakes, or mountain lions, or panthers or bears lurking around the woods there lol.
Hahaha yea don't need to watch your back for wild animals like that here in NZ thankfully 😆 as cool and amazing as those animals are, we're glad we don't need to have any face off with them in NZ nature places 😂

The sculpture walk is so nice, such a great place to spend time after a nice lunch. Haha we’ve seen those street signs claimed as “art” too 😅
Hahaha I actually rarely feel like something healthy 😂 but I think coz it was just quite hot that day so I prefer something light and then the goat cheese sounded yum 😋 those signs.. so tricky hahaha 🚸🛑🚧

The sculpture trail looks awesome, we went on something very similar the other day but instead of contemporary statues, there were hidden fairytale works of art there. It was so fun trying to spot them along the route 😃

Glad you enjoyed your visit. That brought back some great memories for me, I miss that area. Brick Bay beach around the corner from Snells is such an amazing little bay when the tide is in. The water is shallow, clear and warm and there's a beautiful old pohutukawa with a swing and picnic bench. I used to take the Weber and chill all day. Down in Hawkes Bay now right next to Te Mata Peak which is great but the beaches aren't as good as up in Auckland.

I love sculptures too. I haven't seen one in ages. Each year there is Sculpture by the sea in Bondi but my husband never keen to see it. Have u guys been to one?
Oooo yes! We were lucky enough to catch it in Sydney a few years back. We included a few of the sculptures in the Auckland vs Sydney beaches vlog.
