I finally got around to trying the Ouidad gel that you like so much, and I have to agree it's pretty great! I love gels that get their crunch back when you refresh, and it passes that test. I made a video on it and even mentioned your "evenly wet" rule in it.
❤your video! I finally bought Quidad Advanced Climate Control Stronger Hold Gel because of your videos. Wow! I don’t know why I waited so long to try this! Now this is my holy grail gel! I have tried so many gels, hard hold gels and Ouidad (red label) is the best one I have tried! Thank you so much! I now look for poly quats in my gel because they work so well! Fine curly hair can be a struggle & your information helps me and so many other people.
Hi Gena Marie, Thank you for all your blogs, and information - they are so helpful, and I follow you religiously! I have fine, low density, mostly 2B hair, and I find that the Ouidad REGULAR heat an humidity gel - is usually perfect for me. It might work for people who have hair like mine - and might be better than the stronger hold one. I get a really good cast with the regular one. I've tried the stronger hold one and find the cast is difficult to scrunch out.
Your hair looks great! I used this combo last summer vacationing in Miami. My hair withheld amazing! This combo is my go to when I want to have good hair days especially during the summer!😊
Thanks for this video! I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with my curls. For the past 3-4 months, I’ve been embracing my curls and this time, learning about different methods and ingredients and using more than drugstore products. Your videos have been immensely helpful! My question: At the very beginning of this video, there is a picture of you in a striped shirt and your curls are falling flat. That’s how mine have been looking lately! What caused this for you? I live in San Antonio, TX and have high humidity and dew points (55% and 75°F) this time of year. I’m 2c/3a, thin, fine curls. Thanks for your advice!
This was my day 3 hair after the Aveda Be Curly Advanced routine. I'm not sure if you caught my refresh video last Sunday, and my IG Reel that showed my day 1, but that was my day 3 in the intro. It was very humid all week, similar to what you mentioned. The Aveda gel did not contain polyquats and did not give me hold unfortunately.
Wonderful video I am doing a wash day today and using no cream just gel and mousse. Hopefully this will be a good combo. I am still experimenting with products. The humidity is heavy down here in the south and my hair is always a coin flip on how it stays in the style. Humidity right now in Knoxville is 79%.
Great video! As someone who also lives in a chronically humid area, I totally agree with your tips and techniques. May I ask what shade of pink lipstick you are wearing? It's lovely.
I don't know why some people put another product on top of gel! It just ruins what the gel has done! I've never had good luck with Ouidad products, so maybe I'll try the AG, have you ever used the Jessicurl Spiralicious gel? How do you think it compares/do you like the results? My hair is not course or porous like yours. Thank you in advance, and thank you for your fabulous videos.
Your hair came out great! 😍 I can't use that ouidad gel, it weighs my hair down🤷🏽♀️ I love that weather up lotion though! I haven't used it in awhile so I think I'm going to use it tonight & pair it with the ouidad good shape defining gel💜
Great video. Always love all the details and helpful information you provide. Big fan of one of the other gels you mentioned, AG Liquid Effects. Hope you had a great trip to Vancouver.
Love your results 😃 I have learned to read ingredients with you, it’s life changing skill. Ps: Just need to apologize for the “book” I sent you instead of a quick question 😬 I hope you don’t mind, I completely missed the quick word in your email 🙂
I have just looked at the ingredients on the Weather up lotion by twist and I see coconut fruit extract. My hair and scalp typically do not like coconut oil. Do you think the extract will cause less problems than the oil or do they react the same? Thank you for the insightful video!
Would you recommend everything you spoke about for wavy hair as well. My hair is course salt and pepper natural. I was told that heat turns it yellow? That’s why I air dry . What do you think. ? Thank you Gena
Yes, all of the applies to wavy hair as well. I’ve never heard that turns gray hair yellow. I’ve only heard that about chlorine and minerals in the water.
Hi Gena ~ sorry to say, but I'm at Ulta's website, having used the link in the description, and tried to use your discount code. The response is "Coupon not valid or is expired." I had selected the corresponding Ouidad Adv Climate Control product, but the 16oz size. I'd removed everything else from the cart as I wanted to isolate the problem. I added the trial size, the only item in the cart. Same response: coupon not valid or expired." I've not tried any other links/products yet; I'd only tried Ulta's. Thanks for looking into this issue. We can all use less frizzle and def less frazzles 😊.
Wow, your reply was so quick ~ thank you! ❤ I'm so sorry, I'd misread the listing, thinking the heading applied to each site. That's a fabulous discount and I appreciate your passing the code along to us. I look forward to trying the Ouidad "red label." I wasn't happy with their "white label" Climate Control this past winter. I was a snowflake magnet which turned my curls into a halo of frizz. Perhaps we should introduce ourselves lol: hi, v I'm a 3c/4a, fine, medium density, high porosity redhead. Today's video is so well-timed as i peek at the weather forecast and plan which products to use (it's wash day), and very much appreciated. Your shopping codes are a gift indeed. I love the Hair Re-Pear towel. Thanks again ~ hope you have a lovely day, Gena!
I use kinky curly knot today leave in conditioner a tiny pea size and mix through with water after I shampoo. can I use the heat protectant after that ?
The ingredients in the Ouidad gel look like they would be great except for the glycerin. Glycerin makes my hair a stringy frizzy mess. I’ve had a hard time finding gel with pvp and polyquats that doesn’t have glycerin.
Did you catch the section of the video where I discuss glycerin misconceptions? It will not cause problems when combined with polyquats and strong hold.
@@GenaMarie Thanks for the reply! I did miss part of that so I went back to rewatch it. I downloaded the chart too. Do you know the “why” of how the glycerin and polyquats together prevent the frizzy problems glycerin can cause me? It seems like we’re putting a humectant and anti humectant together. Am I mistaken?
Agreed. I’ve experimented so much with different products during different climate seasons and I’ve determined that my hair hates glycerin and also propylene glycol so I just avoid them both altogether.
Hi Gena, On another note, I've tried to get your Anti-Humidity Ingredients Checklist, but nothing happens when I press "download". Am I doing something wrong or is there just a glitch?
Hi Gena, Sorry about that, is there another way to access your Anti-Humidity Ingredients Checklist? I am sending my email address through your Info email address - I hope that's okay.
@@GenaMarieThank you very much. I must say that I watched a wavy hair video and now I have my waves back! I cannot comb …brush style or touch my very wet hair that forms clumps while getting out of the shower and must put product on very wet hair then plop and add a little more gel. If not …..no waves !

I love your current makeup look. Can you do a video on it? I was looking and you haven’t done one in about 8 years. Love your videos ❤ Thank you
I can’t get twist products in Canada! Any other recommendations? Love your videos!
Hi! Thank you for video. Unfortunately, I can’t download a checklist.
Thanks for these really useful tips! What are your favorite finishing sprays to use?
Probably the Curlsmith hairsprays: tidd.ly/45Kifzs
Thanks for the humidity tips! Have you used the Briogeo Curl Charisma gel before? If so, what did you think of it?
Yes, it was so bad in my hair and didn't hold up even half a day.
I absolutely adore the white label version. The hold is not as hard but I have beautiful volume for days.

I’m not sure! I know extracts are usually in very small amounts and don’t have a huge impact on the hair
Ok. Thank you for your thoughts! I think I’m going to give it a try.
Yeah Day 2 looked very good.
GREAT, GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING ❤

What kinda brush would you recommend
Any tips for when you have some straight pieces on top of your head and the rest very curly naturally. Probably from years of styling.
Yo you should try issa miracle curl clumping brush. I've seen its really good on curly & coily hair and I'd like to see you rate it before I use it
Beautiful!!
Great video! Is there a link to the chart for tracking one's routine that you referred to in this video?
Ah I forgot to put the link in the description! Here you go: genamarie.co/product/curly-hair-tracker-planner/
I noticed you put your heat protectant on first, not last. Is that best for wavy hair?
The Miracle Shield says to apply it first. Just need to check the instructions because it may depend on the product

May I ask you what the scent of the lotion by twist is like? Is it floral?
I just avoid glycerine from my routine and it works

Gena. Can I use the curlsmith miracle shield heat protectant on my course low porosity salt and pepper hair even though it has protein?
It doesn’t have protein so anyone can use it!
