  • This is definitely going to be a controversial video so let me preface it by saying this: I really enjoy The Mandalorian. It's one of the best things Star Wars is doing right now, but I do wonder what depths the show could hit if it had simply committed to letting Grogu go at the end of Season 2. I guess we wont ever know, but I think it's time for Mando to evolve.
If you enjoy this video, I'd really be grateful if you checked out the other videos listed below. Thank you for the continued support on this very small channel.

I completely agree with what you’ve said, The Mandalorian should do stuff like what’s been done on the Bad Batch with weekly self contained stories that gradually build into something more.

Andor spoiled us, we didn't deserve it. I feel like everything else is going to feel like Zena Warrior Princess/Hercules

They tried to, but the mean lady upstairs forced them to keep Baby Yoda

Completely agree! In addition I find it ridiculous that not even the recap mentioned the events of Boba fett. I think they fail to realize that a significant chunk, if not the majority of mandalorian viewers aren't huge Star Wars fans who watch every single movie and show. This last week I've had dozens of friends talk or message me confused about Grogu's sudden reappearance and mando's new ship. Most people who watch this show had no idea they needed to watch 2 episodes halfway through a season of some other show just to understand the opening of season 3. And I'm sure many don't even care enough to watch the rest of the Bobba fett show.

Also, just wanted to say a big thank you for providing Star Wars commentary that is very thoughtful and in good faith; I think both elements have been really lacking in the fandom these past years so its great to see someone like you :) Best of luck and I'm already looking forward to the next video!

I think Grogu will end up weilding the Darksaber and ruling Mandalor

That was my first thought after the latest episode: What purpose does Baby Yoda serve now? They really should've had him stay with Luke.

Just found your channel and am already a huge fan of your content! I haven’t watched all of your videos yet, but this video along with your Obi-Wan take has to be the best representation of how I have been feeling about the Star Wars Universe over the last few years. The Mandalorian has definitely had its share of filler over its runtime but I was always interested because each episode was another step in Din/Grogu’s journey. The season 2 finale seemed to be the culmination of that journey, and the removal of Grogu was a surprising but necessary step in Dins evolution to reuniting his people. Everything that’s happened since has felt like an undoing of the first two seasons, along with Dins character also not really progressing over the span of this season.

This is like telling Disney to evolve beyond money lol. Theyre not gonna get rid of their cash cow, theyre gonna milk that little green goblin into the ground...

im really hoping that by including mandalorians who have ideologies that directly conflict with mando's understanding of what it means to be a mandalorian... ideally, din would be forced to confront his own ideologies or adjust them in some way which would be amazing fuel for character develop since his rigid hold on the creed rules is basically all he's got going on lol. LOVE DIN btw that's my space bestie

Something that occurred to me recently while watching a video about Din's new ship the N1, which was questioning it being a good fit for him in comparison to his old ship:

love your channel. U have a great point of view on this and im thinking the same. They only kept grogu in the story for the exact reason u mentioned, for the mandalorian to embrace a factor that will keep him active and its getting boring and repetitive and you know grogu will always be saved for the exact same process to happen all over again. I love this video thanks for explaining this topic

I always saw that the Mando series as a vessel to introduce more lore and mythology thru interesting characters. To me the appeal of the "Mandoverse" is it's ability to blend new storytelling paths with familiar and old storylines and concepts from the old Expanded Universe. This is why it's feeling so organic and believable and to me they are doing a fantastic job at this. Filoni is consolidating what he created and Favreau is delivering also interesting character development. To me, having a focus on Din Djarin isn't important, what is important is to put me alongside him or whoever else they decide to highlight (Miggs Mayfield is a good example of supporting character bringing a ton of depth to the Star Wars lore) and deliver great stories and present believable and enjoyable lore. Mission accomplished so far in my book.

I fully agree with this I think the Grogu arc needs a close. It feels like Bo Katan is getting the arc Dinn should be getting. Also I think due to the Rangers of the New Republic being canceled and them putting those points and elements from that show into Mando has been making this season a little more crossed up and not as focused
