The steel rolls come from Port Kembla in NSW. They are transferred from standard gauge to broad gauge in Melbourne. They are used in the BlueScope plant on Long Island to make Colorbond products.
If anyone is interested there is a train group that meets at Tyabb (next to Hastings). They make their own mini locomotives that they ride on. I'm not a member but Ive spoken to them a bit and they seem like really nice people :)
The town of Mornington is 2.5x the size of Hastings but no longer has a railway station either. They do have frequent buses to Frankston though. But increasingly car traffic in the area is cross-peninsula, where direct public transport doesn't exist at all. Hastings to Mornington by car takes only 20 minutes but typically takes around 2 hours by train/bus via Frankston.
what makes it even worse is during winter, busses completely replace trains for ~4 months every year for "maintenance". Used to regularly use the next station down, Bittern, and couldn't agree more with your rating, Hastings & the peninsula need much better public transport
I love watching these videos seeing all the different trains being used if you haven’t done it yet I’d love to see a video on the new train going to east pakenham station
It's sad because the stations along the Stony Point line used to have really nice station buildings and were quite well kept. Now they're all so run down. Stony Point would probably be the best station building, but even that's dilapidated
You may make more videos to promote travelling in Regional VIC by public transport $10.6/day. This is on Stony Point Line, did you take the 3 way Western Port Ferries to French Island & Phillip Island?

Bus or even minibus like a van is better for door to door service, esp in regional areas. Mornington has Tourist Railway, right?

Yeah. Every time there are level crossing removals, they just seem to close the line.
6:14 I wonder how old that air conditioner is. It was probably last used when the station still had a goods yard.
