On paper, the new Citroen C5 X seems like a confusing mixture of executive saloon, estate car and SUV. Don’t be put off though, as it offers a comfortable ride, a spacious interior and superb value-for-money. But with established rivals such as the stylish Peugeot 508 and impressive Skoda Superb, can the C5 X keep up? Could it mark a return to form for the French brand? Richard Ingram finds out.

Riding this everyday i must say i love this car
On a point of fact, the 1.2 petrol does have ‘progressive hydraulic cushions’, but not active scan.
I have to say I like the return of a more ...err...individual style from Citroen. It looks practical and can waft you around in comfort. It's a bit too long for me where I live (parking is , well, creative to say the least). Many thanks for sharing Richard, a clear and balanced review as usual.
Thanks Anthony, kind of you to say!
Collecting mine on Friday: Amzonite grey, black Perla roof…1.6 petrol , Shine spec 🤗🤗🤗
They picked the wrong colour for this demo car, that black is super bland, I think it actually looks fairly good in the tan colour.
I find it looks surprisingly good in white with a black roof
@@mr-hypercycle I`d go for the blue with a black + glass roof.
It absolutely sucks that there`s no diesel available and a manual 6-speed gearbox. Not to mention Hydractive 3+, fixed hub steering wheel,...
It`s ok car but the potential of the brand is much much greater (especially when you know the history of the brand).

Just to give you a taste...
I love the design of this, I wouldn’t have it in black though, it hides the great lines. The C5X is much more interesting than the VW Group stuff
Great review and what a fabulous looking Citroen.
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. A very stylish Car particularly the exterior design
iv seen some in my home country of france and its nice i love the heads up display
Very nice car. I like the design and I'd buy this over an SUV any Day
I don't understand why they don't do this as an EV it would suit it so much
All in good time, we suspect!
There are rumours but the floor pan is not an EV one, so it will take more engineering to avoid too much compromise.
I can see rear plastic caps underneath as all torsion beam suspension of Stellantis? Or i am wrong?...
Proper weird. Love it.
Driving seems to be just how I like it! 👍🏻
if it was 4x4 and electric I would buy one
Does it want to be a Volvo V90 Crosscountry? The way its parked in the beginning of the video gives a lot of V90 CC vibes.
Citroën FTW!!!
27k is a bargin for such a large vehicle.
Don't forget about the brilliant but sadly unloved MPV. They were around from the 80s right up to the 10s and still are just not as many sadly.
For me the Citreon every day, the Skoda is just a cheaper Volkswagon, no real Skoda character anymore.
I have bought a Citroen C5 X with 1.6l petrol engine. It’s looks beautiful and elegant, but I have to say the gearbox is not good especially when it changes from 2 to 3 , it’s kind of annoying thing.
Black really ain't its best colour do. It's looks much better in blue or green or red even.
Why would it have the same type of boor opening as a boring Audi A4 or a BMW 3series as this is not a saloon? Its part hatchback part suv part estate but not a saloon. Its nothing like a saloon.
Is it just my phone or is the audio off?
It’s your phone?
Why in this crazy world are manufacturers insistent on knocking out huge cars. With the growing living costs, that have spiralled completely out of control..
There’s the C4 and C3 if you like this but want something smaller
I wish they called it the CX. For the individual design, the spacious cabin, the ultra comfortable ride, the good quality build but not class leading, and of course the depreciation. All in all I believe it is the most CX of all modern Citroens. A bit marmite perhaps, not everyone’s cup of tea, but definitely something original and different from the crowd.
Similar to new Toyota Crown. New cars now starting to look like cars 100 years ago.
Superb has better suspension comfort??? Really??
The underpowered engine is a problem. I had the same engine on a C4 and didn't like it at all.
Nice looking car tho' I'm not surprised the 1.2 is sluggish as you can't defy the laws of physics, small engine powering larger car equals slower performance and less mpg.
I recently had a C3 Aircross as a loan car for the day - what a piece of junk. I've never seen so much hard plastic in a car before. This looks better, but the petrol hybrid is over £41k, so it get's expensive quickly. Still not sure about Citroen - they're very quirky in their designs, but you can't fault the comfort.
Gutted there's no Diesel engine in the range
It absolutely sucks that there`s no diesel available indeed and a manual 6-speed gearbox. Not to mention Hydractive 3+, fixed hub steering wheel,...

My lungs are relieved.
Is it different subaru impreza estate, the volvo cross country there are numerous estate cars that are raised this is an estate go back to vauxhall Victor and viva with it rounded rear end estate
The design nothing new it an updated estate car
We buy far too many items from China and are too dependent on Chinese made goods. This is made in China and for that reason along with some BMW's, Mercedes Benz and VW group cars should be avoided. This car should be manufactured in France or at the very least in a European country.
Omg man you’re spot on! You would have thought after Covid, that the world would have learnt its lesson on its over dependence on China
Get a grip most things are made in china including your laptop or phone or tablet you used to write your comment.
Not bad as a second hand for 2k other than that ud lose ur shirt new
This car is WEIRD.
in a good way tho...
@@georgedowns4034 oh I totally agree haha but it's still very weird 😅
no, its standard citroen style
Made in China 🤔
This video is boring because Nicola isn't in it with her quirky perky comments.
It’ll break…it’s a Citroen
Nah
Like all Citroen products at the moment this C5X is so repulsive in the styling department
u have no clue wat ur on about
@@georgedowns4034 Well I can see it with my own eyes, it's ugly
@@AsherPiesman idk if u know me, but if u did, u will know that I am always logically right. It is not a matter of opinion but rather facts
@@AsherPiesman (btw ofc u don't know me- dunno why I said it like that...)
Styling is subjective. It's marmite you eith love it hate it I love it but think Citroen could abd should have been even braver with it. They should have launched it just as an all out electric car to compete with the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ionic5.
