If the government require an army (which they have underfunded through cuts) then they need to create an incentive to fight in it. That means vast improvements across the NHS to social housing and standard of it. Forcing the poorest in society into potential death is not a sustainable option.

You're right, for centuries people have been dying for their country, but the truth is, for centuries it is the poor who die to protect the privileged of the country. If the poor return in one piece, they often live out a miserable existence. It should be the people that are privileged and have everything in society to go off to war to protect what they have. That is what happened in ww1 if I remember correctly. The upper classes tended to volunteer and be officers and had a dreadful casualty rate.
On one hand, why should the indigenous youth die for a government who has repeatedly made it clear that they are unwanted? On the other hand, the fact that most people aren't willing to fight and potentially die for their families, community, and nation might indicate that national service is desperately needed. It's needed to reverse what government, academia, and media have sowed. They taught everyone that nationalism is bad, white skin is inherently evil, don't be masculine, etc. You reap what you sow!

UK is not country it is a united kingdom and Britain is the British State ! Scotland is a country and the boy sounds very English. The only reason Scotland has been described as having a good education system is because of the rich from all over the world going to certain university that employs the top professors tutors. The rest of the education system schools are not that good.

If you speak to any seasoned War Veteran, they would not go through the horrors that they did again if they had the choice. And that was during an actual threat to their Nation's safety. Why would anybody want to risk their life to fight proxy wars, that only exist to transfer public money to private stakeholders?

People in Scotland, including myself voted labour for decades and then realised that they did not represent the working classes. That’s why there was a surge in support for the SNP. They are a party that stand for open borders, less police officers, soft on crime, and the highest benefits system in Europe. I could go on. I am a Londoner who has lived in Scotland for a few years. The sentiments are exactly what I expected and agree with. I have never known a Tory Government up here in my time.

In 1918 my late grandad swore there was only one thing he would ever again fight for - his friends (which he essentially had already done.) As if he ever could, by then having lost an arm and a leg.

Well what they do is they create a discussion first so that the idea is firmly in the public consciousness. Then they create reasons to support the idea. Then the idea becomes a reality. In this case, the tories know they're out for a while, so they're taking the hit on this one to get the idea out there and test the water. But it's coming though. Sooner or later this is going to be a thing.
