Getae, Tylis and Ardiaei could do with a Balkan Sword-unit, sort of a mid-tier sword unit that is slightly better than Axemen. No precursors on spears really hurt Getae.
Maximus Decimus Meridius Yeah I'd also love to see a mid tier "Falx-Warrior" and high tier "Noble Falxmen" unit to make the Dacian Falx seem more important
The Getae would be way better if they had a decent mid tier sword unit. And it would be even better if they had their own version of Thracian peltasts that weren't mercenaries.
Weirdly and against all odds this is my possibly strongest army that I really rarely lose with. 4 noble swords /4 axes /2 falxmen /3 heavy bows /3 spears (1x220gold and 2x300gold) 2 bow cav (or jav cav) and 2 heavy cav. Flexible force, elite sword core, 3+2 bows for skirmish superiority, reliable spears at flank, strong flank shock unit - no other faction can field army this cost efficient, most have more expensive elite swords and no real 500 gold cost mid tier sword. Weirdly imbalanced army and still minces almost anything.
Falxmen are flanking units. Engage the enemy's main line with your other units and charge your falxmen into the flanks and rear of their line will cause massive damage especially if you couple it with the frenzy ability that you can get by pairing your army with a champion that has the skill that enables it (plus this skill also gives +20% charge bonus per level as well as faster cooldown for frenzy). Getting charged so heavily in the rear by frenzied falxmen combined with the causalities they inflict will quickly shred an enemy unit's morale
It'd be awesome to get some similar faction focuses in Attilla; and not saying you have to go ALL the way back, but it would have been fun to see something similar in Shogun 2!
That was a injudegment and a bad army choice. Getae are really powerful. Strong bowman, decent cav good high tier infantry for a low price, axeman + cheap throwaway spears make up a really strong army.
I justated playing as Getae and horse archers are so good special with heavy shots. Against legions you need good archers and units with good armour to hold legions in for a while when your archers are shooting to them
I noticed something about the dacian hevy skirmishers and dacian hevy bowman, it's that, at least by the information on honga.net if you go and compare for example the dacian hevy skirmishers and thracian peltast like in the link here: www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/units_compare.php?l=en&v[]=rome2&f[]=rom_odryssia&u[]=Thr_Peltasts&v[]=rome2&f[]=rom_getae&u[]=Dac_Heavy_Skirm If you look at the accuracy of the dacian hevy skirmishers, you see that it is at 15 instead of the regular 5 witch the thracian peltast have, which makes the dacian missile unites 3x times more accurate than other units in the game (the same accuracy boost is applyied for the archers). Yes the skirmishers have less ammo than the thracian peltast, and damage, but they make it up with accuracy, more armor, and weapon damage, which is great for catching light cavilary off gard and killing them with ease, even citizen cavalry gets a beating from this guys, imo the best peltast in the game and that only at the price of 450 talents is amazing. I agree with everyone that stated above that the Getae need some good mid-tier swords, but that ain't gonna happen ever, so that is at this point a lost cause. Even without them you can make some skirmish hevy armies with good spear support, and some solid cavalry, and make it work. I love the Getae, my favorite barbarian faction, because they have a loot of tactical flexibility.
Well if you want different units, there's always mods like Divide et Impera. For multiplayer that you can actually find a game for, then yeah, there's no luck for a mid-grade sword unit.
Almost feel like the spearmen are hoplites, with shock cavalry and falxmen, it's almost as if it's some weird barbarian version of a greek hammer and anvil style of play.
they got really bad starting position, with few friends and many enemies,a very low income, but i finally found the way to win the campaign on legendary,i'm going to upload the campaign on my channell soon, just after the epirus one
@@mike25500 i won the campaign with getae on legendary and i can assure you that it is a nightmare ,but yes,if you can survive until you have a good income and good armies then it comes the light
@@rupert825 what I remember you can fast get noble swords or spears. Most important is to get trade agreements with other countries. Try Octavian Augustus expansion and pick Marcomanii hehe on legendary. Tell me later how it was going
I love Gaeta also they are great they have good cav and bows Adele as noble swords and spears great at defense Edit: they can beat oath sworn with archer support which you will most likely have
Judged by its spelling, classical Latin speakers would have pronounced it Get-eye. (ae=eye, i=ee, a=short a as in Roma). How they themselves pronounced it, I'm not sure we can know. EDIT: Just checked how the advisor in game pronounces it - they say it Get-ay (day) which is surely a modern english approach. But we do that for Hoplite, Macedon, Caesar.. so not a problem really.
Hopefully after the release of Attila. Would be a shame to see the back of Rome 2 after the relatively recent release of patch 14 something which the game should have started off as
Alex Sitaras Genetic study can also help you trace your ancestry! If not to particular families, at least to certain geographical areas and groups of people.
The Roman General options are pathetic... They can't kill hardly anything on their own. Too bad you can't throw it into like an Eagle Cohort because they aren't used at all because of their cost and combat inefficiency. I think they are cool looking because of their different shields and the Roman Eagle they carry and it's too bad you don't see them ever.
It doesn't really bother me that it is a cost ineffective unit, and yeah it is good to have a cheap general option, but still other factions can cut out the middle man (so to speak) and just bring an Oathsworn general or Companion Cav and not have to waste 430-450 talents. Still though, Rome is still in a very powerful position among the rest of the factions in the game, so they don't need anymore buffs, so I agree with you that it is more fair.

Maf's Balkan Unit Pack does exatly that.
Mods don't transfer to multiplayer

All Thracian peltasts are good for is turning the tide of battle every single time.
Wow I did NOT think you were gonna turn that around, good show!
falxmen are very cost effective if you get them to the back of the enemy you will get hundreds of kills
What a cool battle, probably one or your best ! That tension, that stress ! Amazing
Thanks! Glad you liked it
my opinion,rome2>attila.
Marcus Mgodioso yep
Marcus Mgodioso its getting there with every update. Lol I am liking it ok after the politics patch
Yes! two of my favorite factions today! Are you going to have a faction vote for Attila?
It'd be awesome to get some similar faction focuses in Attilla; and not saying you have to go ALL the way back, but it would have been fun to see something similar in Shogun 2!
Man, the boii infantry melt the praetorians, it's absurd and way over powered.
Heavy spears have 7 AP Damage, even if their overall damage is only 22
That was a injudegment and a bad army choice.
Getae are really powerful. Strong bowman, decent cav good high tier infantry for a low price, axeman + cheap throwaway spears make up a really strong army.
8 years ago but wow nice video man!
I justated playing as Getae and horse archers are so good special with heavy shots. Against legions you need good archers and units with good armour to hold legions in for a while when your archers are shooting to them
for the spear units its not shield wall its shield screen. shield screen means your unit cant move
Cut down on sugar my friend , you'll be in better shape and your immunity will be so much better =) We need more Rome 2 too
Yes! Finally, an updated Getae FF :D

How do the thracian peltasts melee stats compare to the axeman? Would be interesting to use them as a main line infantry instead maybe?

"Youuuu tuuuuube!" :D
Heir tip from a Geate player NEVER use javelins if you can get bows
I think it's interesting how your voice increases in pitch whilst being sick, for most people, being sick has the opposite effect.

Getae is easy. Even on legendary. Just at the start is some problem. I'm playing as Marcomanii on legendary and that's not easy.

It's cool to get a video at half past nine in Switzerland;))
The Hunnic Empire Switzerland is so small that it doesnt even matter in wich part are you in.
The Hunnic Empire Im Italian, I didnt want to be offensive but its like that
The Hunnic Empire U MAD BRUV?
The Hunnic Empire Thats right, just shut up
The Hunnic Empire What's funny is how you were saying that WE are ignorant. Your posts show the exact opposite.
You've done a great job Heir
Should I pick Odrysian, Getae, Massagatae, royal scythians, or Roxalani?
odrysian or getae in the campaign surely, great position on the map and heh, both are "same blood", reliable allies
What happened to the throwback thursdays?
I love Gaeta also they are great they have good cav and bows Adele as noble swords and spears great at defense
Edit: they can beat oath sworn with archer support which you will most likely have
A glaring weakness is lack of any slingers.
Proud beeing a romanian get be-get(wich in romanian means pure/100%)
When you are you giving a faction vote video
It's 15 bonus to large for falxmen and 20 for romphaia units.

+Crimmo877 Wouldn't it sound like Jet-eye ? Dunno , being a dacian, we call them Gets (pronnounced jets) .
geți =getae
I thought the Belgae were pronounced Bel-gee (ae at the end making an ee sound)?
is it ironic that the belgay occupy bag a cum?
How do you play this faction?
proud to be getae!
Wish they had a falx warrior unit that would be similar to the thracian warriors
When is the next throwback?
Hopefully after the release of Attila. Would be a shame to see the back of Rome 2 after the relatively recent release of patch 14 something which the game should have started off as
true
When Spears are more expensive than MLG freemen and don't have precursor javs :/
why i can only watch it in 360p?
Great video
dude can i ask u whats ur name cous u realy sound like a guy i worked with in cody wy
Terra Dacica Aeterna !
its not much but.....Noble swords are about 80 cheaper..
thought roman cav was disaplined
The dacians are my ancestors:D
How do you even trace you ancestry that far back? Just curious:P
The Duke It would take too much to explain :)
ok then :P
The Duke some groups can trace their ancestors really far back, assuming records arent destroyed

I think the roman general choices are actually there to specifically be a waste of money for the Romans - it's a way of balancing their army selection
Lol probably.

Welp, the jokes are back...
=D
To what jokes are you referring?
Not really a fan of putting my general in the meat grinder
please play a campaign of viking forefathers as soon as the game releases
heir do a match were you use attilarry
Geate and Jat are same race
Stay on Rome 2 !!! :(
Yea spear units are useless as a front line. Sword Infantry would last much longer.
Correct pronunciation G-e-tz-ee
low armor yolo falxmen =)))))))))))))))))))))
