- I tried Overtone Blue for Brown Hair and here are my thoughts about it. My hair is pretty dark as well. If you've tried Overtone, let me know if this product worked for you!

Thank you Tiffany for this clear and useful review! I have also very dark brown- black hair. At the end when you were in the sun, I could see a subtle tint. Very slight tone overall. I guess that matches their brand name “overtone”

I feel you with the dark brown hair struggle 😫 I used to dye my hair red and purple and now my hair is still damaged from all the bleaching I had to do! We need good hair dye for Brunettes! 🙈🤣

I love overtone! I use it every time I color my hair. I like the blue for brown hair, but the extreme blue is my favorite. It’s a lot more intense! My hair is prelightened though.
I think I'll try again if I ever decide to lighten my hair a little. Maybe I should try the extreme blue instead!
It's not easy to go from blue to brown, I think you did awesome work and hair looks really soft and beautiful 👍👍👍
if your hair is black or dark brown & it soaks up moisture very well, you will see SOME of the color. Your hair MUST ABSORB MOISTURE easily & thoroughly. I tried GINGER for blonds because they didn't have for Brown. The part of my hair that is white, it is definitely bright ginger. the part that was permanently dye a golden red is definitely ginger. My natural reddish VERY dark brown hair is not colored. Your hair will feel well hydrated & soft & it will have a fun rosemary/minty scent. long hair requires half of that jar.
I did see a hint of blue in your hair. I also love the fact that blue isn’t sooo bright. I love how you speak btw 💕

this reminds me when i tried doing my hair the same color, I didn’t want it like a bright blue, i just wanted my hair to have kind of like a blue reflection in the light? and i got the exact same results 🙈🙈🙈

I haven't done overtone on my hair before but I've done wax which is fun! Since my hair is black/d. brown I just can't see myself bleaching it...the fact that this is a conditioner is super awesome too..reminds me of a cellophane...I see a lot of purple in your hair, I wonder what happened to the blue?

I’m hoping to get Overtone but pink, I have some bleached blonde and when lockdown lifts I’m getting pastel pink balayage. But It definitely made your hair a cooler tone. Really enjoyed the video 🥰

Sorry it's not as blue as you wished but I think it looks good under the sun. You don't want it to be overwhelming either. Also, your hair is amazing, it looks so healthy!
Im also skeptical with bleaching. Melted my hair too and I didn't do it again. Thanks for the review, I've been meaning to try alternatives but looks like it's really never going to work with dark hairs. ❤🙋♀️
You can definitely see the blue in natural lighting, it is subtle but looks great on you!
This reminded me of high school when I used to dye my hair red. I would try separating your hair in smaller sections but I do think you would have too bleach your hair to get a brighter color. 😊

I am addicted in dyeing my hair and I was expecting a blue hair without bleaching because im getting tired bleaching my black roots.. anyhow, atleast it didn't damaged the hair 🙌

Thank you for doing this. I have very dark brown too, with a streak of gray hair. I had been using the Espresso Brown and it give my gray hair a nice light brown hint. However, over time that streak looks pretty orange. I found out that I need to use a cool color. I ordered the Pastel Gray and it barely cooled down the orange. I just ordered the Vibrant Gray, in hopes that that my grays will turn into a light brown (without the orange).

It is a color depositing conditioner!!
Overtone is meant to stain hair that is light enough for it to show up on, if you have brown hair yes you will be able tk see the color especially in the sun.
Personally I'm peruvian and I have black hair but I dye my hair last year. Burgandy and missed my natural color, so I used Overtone in black (it has a purple undertone)
And I love it! The purple undertone is lightly visible in the tips of my hair that was lighter of course.

i definitely can see that it darkened your hair, you should try to dye it blue black! that's a very subtle color suitable for work

THANK YOU for posting this, because I was so excited to try this exact product and it turned my hair black too! I was trying to figure out if I left it on for too long or something because my hair is lighter than yours with some even light natural highlights, but even as it faded, it was still straight black. I can do arctic fox pink just fine and it shows up beautifully, but this color just didn't work! So frustrating!

My hair is nearly black and I have been wondering if this actually works without bleaching! I have never dyed my hair nor have I ever bleached it, but I want multi colored hair sooo bad! This is amazing!

I think a lot of people expect this product to be super vibrant on dark hair, but it works best for those with lighter, BROWN hair 😂 If anything, it looks like it removed the warmth from your hair and gave it a cool tone, like a blue-black. Sorry you weren’t able to get the results you wanted, but glad to hear that it made your hair feel hydrated!

I didn't see a difference until you went under the sunlight. I could definitely see a hint of blue shine... But that's it!! Sorry it wasn't as bright blue as I wanted. But I don't think you want too bright of a blue either. At first when I saw the bright blue liquid in the jar I got scared... Like I thought you were going to straight up blue hair! Haha

I think the only overtone that works for my dark hair (which is much darker than my profile pic now) is the purple and the red (both for brown hair). blue just doesn't seem to color my hair at all, and i had the same results as you.

hmmm i didn't know about this, normally i thought it was harder for black people to colour their hair.
I wish I saw this first. The overtone made my hair darker than it already was. so it's more jet black now not blue black.

I thought from the beginning you would have to bleach your hair for the blue to show as your hair is really dark

Our hair might be took dark for it to show up. If you lighten your hair a bit first, it’ll probably show up a lot more. It did make my hair super soft though. 😂 I honestly would only get it again if I lightened my hair first but if I don’t, then I wouldn’t do it again.
