  • How long does Overtone last? How do you get it to stick around longer? Or how do you get it out of your hair quickly? I've got answers!
    Since the pandemic started, I've been experimenting with Overtone coloring conditioners. Most recently I used Purple for Brown Hair with fantastic results. But all good things must come to an end. In this last run, I show you how much fading occurs with each shampoo so you know exactly what to expect.
    But I do HIGHLY recommend you check out my blog posts about this. I recently went for my first post-pandemic hair treatments and something VERY unexpected happened when she tried to bleach my hair.

      I tried to desperately get rid of the ginger. It was not a good shade for me. I washed and washed and eventually use the Overtone pastel blue daily conditioner to help tone it. And then I simply switched to rose gold and then purple and then… you get the idea! It was at least a month and it never really faded.

    Iv'e been using the Rich Black on the top of my hair and the Extreme Pink on the bottom as an ombre. While I was rinsing the black out of my hair it started to bleed into the pink. It left the pink part of my hair with a very dark purple. Do you have any tips on how to get it back to it's original pink?

    What shampoo do you recommend when using overtone? Something that won’t wash it out

    • @Allthingsfadra
      @Allthingsfadra  3 роки тому

      I go for higher quality shampoo but the main thing is to make sure it has NO SULFATES (which fades colors). My current favorite is from NatureLab and I buy it from Amazon: amzn.to/2UIppEG

    So if I only wash my hair once a week the rose gold could possibly last almost a month?

    • @Allthingsfadra
      @Allthingsfadra  3 роки тому +1

      Yes - my experience is that the fading is specifically tied to the number of times you wash your hair!

    How many uses do you get from one overtone jar?

    • @Allthingsfadra
      @Allthingsfadra  2 роки тому

      It depends on the length and thickness of your hair but I’d say 2-3 applications.

    If you want it to stay longer do s wash with dandruff shampoo, no conditioner, and dried. Apply the color. Then wash as normal

    Have you tried the conditioner that you can get with it? For the upkeep?

    • @Allthingsfadra
      @Allthingsfadra  4 роки тому

      I have tried the conditioner but only to tone my color in the opposite direction. I do have a friend that uses the daily conditioner for rose gold and it does help prolong her color.

    • @marielledelaine

      I have natural virgin brondeish brown (yes bronde) hair and I used the overtone pink for brown with the daily conditioner set. I shampoo my hair 1-2 times a week. I used the daily upkeep one maaaaybe once every two weeks because it stains like heck, my whole shower and hands lol. I even mixed it with other conditioner to make it go farther a few times, it is STRONG. when I ran out of the coloring conditioner hair mask, I used up and applied the "daily" conditioner to dry hair and left it on like an hour, and it worked in my opinion just as well as the coloring hair mask itself. Then I noticed a lot of the product stuck to the inside of the bottle unable to come out due to the shape of the bottle (a flaw if you ask me) and I filled the bottle with water and shook it up. The mixture ended up as a foamy watery pink solution and for fun I used it to color my friend's natural golden blonde hair. Her virgin hair ended up a rose gold color, that was a few weeks ago, and it still has the color hint in it now. overtone is powerful but it all depends on the type of hair you have. I used the pink hair mask color on october 2nd and did an ombre, and did my whole head with the daily conditoner the last time I used it. The daily has washed out now mostly in my roots, however a couple of my greys are still stained nice metallic pink color, and the ends that I originally did as ombre are still quite dark pink magenta sort of color.

    Does it bleed all over the place?

    • @Allthingsfadra
      @Allthingsfadra  3 роки тому

      It can be a little messy but it's not a liquid. It's the consistency of a thick conditioner so it's easy to contain.

    • @Allthingsfadra

      I probably waited 2 months or so of trying to get it out and ended up just using Rose Gold. It eventually faded with the other colors but it was best to mute it with another color.

      crush up vitamin c pills and mix with a dandruff shampoo and wash your hair with it, let it sit on your hair for a couple of minutes before rinsing. Deep condition after, it'll dry out your hair a bit, but I found it really removed a lot of the color. Good luck xox

    • @Allthingsfadra

      You need to get a toning conditioner for your hair. Find the color opposite red on the color wheel (it’s green) and get the daily conditioner in green. It will help neutralize the red. I had to do the same thing with blue conditioner to tone the orange.

    So far I really don’t care for oVertone! BECAUSE it says it is semi permanent but I haven’t been able to wash it out at all! I was hoping to go a darker copper but my hair turned neon orange 🍊 like neon like a tacky pumpkin.... it’s horrible and won’t wash out and I’ve tried so many things to make it fade. I think I have to get colour oops to get rid of this terrible neon colour. Beware of that!! 💛

      I had the same problem with Ginger. I took a long time to fade. I did end up buying the Pastel Blue Daily Conditioner (at their recommendation) and it helped tone out the Orange. They tell you to use the opposite color on the color wheel.

      this is the same problem I had but with the purple for brown hair!! I never see anyone talk about that happening to them with the purple one but beware you might still end up with a purple tingle in your hair after two months...

      No! Surprisingly I didn't notice any color transfer at all. I did use a dark towel on my hair when I got out of the shower but I saw nothing on my pillow. The only time I saw color was each time I washed my hair.
